Thanks for the warm greetings fellow Zennies!As i said previously,i just finished with the show,by saying this i mean i finished watching 7th season,after that there simply is no show.Right now,my very soul is crushed,how did you people console and comfort yourself after the show was finished and JH ended on a bad note.Were the writers who wrote the last season essentially the same ones from previous seasons?Also,thanks for your reply mistymountainhoop!

I stopped thinking about the show for three years. Then I ended up catching a J/H-centric ep on TV, and my love for them was renewed. So I read fanfic to ease the pain, specifically these:

• Season 8 Redo by tanith75
• Steven Who? by kezztip

• Filling in the Gaps by rebeldivaluv
• Choice of a Lifetime by heatherlea75

Then I joined this message board to share the pain. And then I started writing and drawing Those '70s Comics, a series that deepens, expands, and fixes the characterization of the show. And, finally, I started writing my own T7S fic.

Baffling enough, people who wrote some of the best J/H episodes wrote some of the worst season episodes. Originally, the season 7 finale was going to be the series finale. In the original version of that, so the story goes, Hyde proposes to Jackie. But season 8 was greenlit halfway or more into season 7's production. The Filgos contract was up, and they didn't re-sign. So they had the season 7 finale rewritten with that ridiculous Hyde/Jackie/Kelso cliffhanger to give the not-hired-yet new showrunners a built-in story arc to start them off.

The Filgos, however, had no clue that the show would hire two showrunners who hated Jackie and Hyde together and, I think, Jackie herself. In an interview (TV Guide, I believe), the newly hired showrunners stated they didn't like Jackie and Hyde's romantic relationship. They never understood it, and they were rolling J/H back to their season-1 antagonism. But, clearly, they hadn't paid attention to the show because even in season 1, Jackie and Hyde's connection is obvious, starting in "Prom Night".

If they didn't respect or like the seven years of development the characters had gone through, they shouldn't have taken the job. Even David Trainer, T7S's series director (except for the pilot), called season 8 an "alternate universe" and "one of many possible futures" for the characters.

To make sure Jackie and Hyde would be split up forever on-screen, the new showrunners brought in Sam, Hyde's wife. But Sam went over so badly with audiences that she -- along with Hyde's marriage -- was written off halfway through the season. According to reports from fans who went to the S8 tapings (including my original co-mod on this board), the audience would boo Jud Tylor (Sam) whenever she was on-stage. And the audience was told to cut it out, or they'd be ejected from the taping.

My original co-mod also brought to a taping a huge packet of letters from T7S fans, asking Jackie and Hyde to be reunited by the end of the series. She gave it to a producer (or someone associated with the show, not sure whom) and explained what it was. The producer said, "Sorry. Jackie and Hyde are not getting back together. They're done."

Yeah. And I bet they're oblivious to the fact that their season isn't considered canon by most of the fandom and by the series' own director.

It was a huge eff up, too bad a generally great show had to end on such a low note. Oh, and I've never seen the last season myself.

The writing of T7S went downhill starting near the end of season 5, but if it'd had a really great last season with stellar writing, that would've made up for some of it.

Thanks MistyMountainHop!I just finished reading November rain,thanks to you.One of the longest fanfiction stories i ever read,of course when you combine all 3 parts.It was pretty amazing to,although i do think there was little to much Jackie/Colin drama and glorification of the aforementioned pairing.Another thing that bugs me,and this is probably just me being stupid,but most of the pictures that you upload here cannot be viewed,at least not by me,most of them say:"please update your account to enable 3rd party hosting".So any ideas on how to fix this problem?Thanks

Ughh just thinking about that season that shall not be named still makes me mad. Luckily there is a lot of good fanfic out there.

That's an issue brought on by Photobucket changing the way they operate, they now require members to pay for sharing images on third party sites. If you don't, you see that message. A solution would be to switch over to a different picture uploading site, I'm not sure which can be recommended though.

It's a good thing there are fanfic writers around to fix what the show messed up, or to expand on the show in great ways.

Like Lulu said, Photobucket basically rendered itself unusable. I'm in the process of redoing all the OPs (original/first posts) of each thread, but it's a looooooong process. Sadly, though, the Photobucket-hosted pics in previous threads are dead.
