If he could rag on Donna relentless about her granny panties, no wonder he burned Jackie when he could (before S5). Though his burns of her in S4 were very mild. They were sooo forging a secret friendship then. Head!canon.

Hyde burned all his friends, but I was glad when they got milder towards Jackie.

I sooo wish we could've gotten some direct J/H follow-up in S4 to plant their S5 relationship even better. Hyde physically guiding her from the classroom as if he's her boyfriend while Kelso tries to spy Donna's boobs -- is such a big piece of (unintentional) subtext.

My head!canon is that he was attracted to Melissa in "Hyde Gets the Girl" because she was a bit like Jackie. *makes everything Zennie*

So let's say Hyde and Jackie got engaged, as was the original plan, and Jackie went to college as -- despite some weirdo inconsistent characterization -- she intended to do, how would they handle the time apart?

I think they would find a way to make it work, like maybe see each other on the weekends.

And Hyde sometimes takes time off and stays with Jackie in her dorm. Or pays for them to stay in a hotel room together.

I'm sure Hyde would drive over to visit her. I believe that they could make it work. During the week while she's taking classes, Hyde would be working so they can be with each other on the weekends.

Do you think Jackie and Hyde would trust each other to stay faithful? Or do you think they'd surreptitiously make check-in calls? Maybe Jackie would call the Formans, too, to find out who's been hanging out in the basement -- and Hyde would make a contact at Jackie's school.

I can see some trust issues happening, but i think they would've have successfully overcome them eventually And also i'm sure it would've been a little funny and definitely sweet for us to watch

I agree that they would have eventually have overcome them, but most definitely would trust be an issue. I also think that this would be more on Jackie's part than Hyde's Her relationship with Kelso was the only time, and justifiably so, where he had his issues with trusting her. Whereas Jackie actually WAS cheated on by Hyde. I think they after the nurse incident, the trust thing was either dealt with off screen or the swept it under the rug since we never really heard about it ever again.

I think there would be some trust issues for sure on both of their parts. I think over time they would overcome them though.

Yeah, my head!canon is that they dealt with it off-screen. We never got a sex scene or post-sex scene with them, either, but we know they were doing it. What we got on-screen merely scratched the surface.

But their reconciliation in early S6 was sooo mishandled (just as it was in season 7). The nurse incident was never mentioned. Hyde acted as if he were the injured party, which is ridiculous and OOC and ignores his behavior at the end of S5. The writers were awful at writing reconciliations. See: Donna and Eric in "Going to California".

ETA: Mini-Zen moment in the opening. Hyde looks at Jackie while singing. She sees him in the corner of her eye and turns toward him.

I hated how they handled reconciliations in this show, I just like to think they handle them better off screen.

I have always noticed that little zen moment in the openings, and love it.
