I totally agree. I was not a fan of his story arc in season seven especially.

His arc in season 7, though moments/scenes during it made me laugh, shows how little Eric's character was fleshed out as an individual. We understood him mostly in terms of his relationships with other characters. Season 7 finds him exploring different career options -- but the reason he doesn't know what he wants to do is that the writers hadn't developed his character enough (again, as an individual) the previous six seasons.

Right, he just seemed to be kind of floating around, aimless in season seven.

He angers butterflies. It's so silly, but I find the scene where he tosses the butterfly net hilarious.

That scene is pretty funny, I will admit.

It's all in Topher's delivery. Those silly season-7 moments work because of his performance.

Yes, it could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for that.

It's the same for me with "Squeezebox" (6x20), the episode where Red and Hyde catch Pam in the nude. It's an awful episode characterization-wise, but Kurtwood's line delivery cracks me up.
What should Eric's storyline in season 7 have been? __________________

I would have liked season 7 to be for Eric finding himself, and finding himself career wise instead of being in limbo.
