Makes me wonder if Kitty would take Laurie aside and question her motives -- which would hurt Laurie pretty deeply, I think. But after so many years of watching her daughter make bad choices, a lack of trust is understandable.

Kitty might do that, but maybe Kitty and Laurie would end up having a heard to heart as well.

Laurie was her true self around Kitty -- mostly. And once her act didn't work with Kitty. So Laurie would probably feel more comfortable being honest with her.

I totally agree. Which is why I loved when Kitty talked to her about sticking with beauty school.
