I just studied the Hyde and Eric collage in the OP. They weren't afraid to touch each other (platonically, of course :P), which makes their relationship feel even more real. Hyde was especially touchy-grabby in season 1 (and a bit in season 2). :lol:

I love the opening for this thread.

That is one thing I noticed is that they weren't afraid to show their affection physically, ( that sounded dirty when I wrote it). They really were like brothers though, which I loved.

I love that Hyde went to Eric in S7 and asked him what he thought of "Me and Jackie," and even Eric recognized that Jackie made Hyde happy. :love:

Eric gave Hyde good advice sometimes. He could always see when Hyde really needed advice and help.

I felt Eric was more friendly than Hyde was to him. It felt one sided a lot. :shrug:

I think Hyde thought of Eric as a brother, just as Eric thought of him that way, but Hyde just wasn't always comfortable showing it.

Hyde was very protective of Eric and listened to him a lot. Even though Hyde could be initially cranky about it, he always gave Eric advice and supported him. But they were dudes, and they had to get the burns in, too. Eric burned Hyde when the opportunities presented themselves. Hyde just wasn't particularly burnable. :shrug:

Shall I list? I think I shall.

"Sunday, Bloody Sunday" (110) -- Hyde tried to write Eric's paper for him. He wasn't successful -- since Donna refused to right down his conspiracy ravings (:lol:), but he spend a goodly amount of time on it.

"Punk Chick" (122) -- Hyde gives Eric advice how to get to second base with Donna, and Hyde also doesn't leave for NY in large part because he didn't want to leave Eric.

"The Good Son" (125) -- Hyde takes the fall for Eric's idiot move with the bowling ball in the TV. Hyde puts his shelter in danger by doing this. Eric just would've been grounded since he's Red and Kitty's son. Hyde, as he said, was a "guest" at the Formans', and by taking the blame for the broken TV, he risked Red kicking him out.

"Laurie and the Professor" (204) -- Hyde does his best to help Eric finally burn Laurie in front of Red and Kitty.

"Vanstock" (206) -- Donna's furious at Eric for not telling her about Kelso's cheating. Hyde tells Donna to give Eric a break. "I mean, the guy kisses your ass. He does everything for you, and you're not even sleeping with him." Because of Hyde's defense of Eric, Donna forgives him.

"I Love Cake" (207) -- Hyde gives Eric decent advice in the circle about how to fix his, "I love cake" debacle with Donna.

"Red's Birthday" (210) -- Even though Hyde is angry when he says it, he knocks sense into Eric about being pissed about being Donna's "make out guy".

"Eric's Stash" (212) -- Eric is a jerk in this one. He accuses Hyde of being a thief, questioning Hyde's loyalty (which makes sense, considering Hyde's awful [and retroactively OOC] S1 characterization of trying to snake Donna). This episode was to conclude that storyline once and for all.

"Reefer Madness" (301) -- Eric offers to tell Red "he does it, too" (pot), and Hyde tells him not to. "Look, Forman. I appreciate what you're trying to do, you know? But you getting into trouble is not going to help me get out of trouble, okay?" Hyde would rather be homeless than have Eric put himself at risk. Even if there was a 1% chance Eric's act would help, Hyde doesn't want him to do it.

"Eric's Panties" (306) -- Hyde defends Eric to Donna, saying that Eric wouldn't cheat on her.

"Who Wants It More" (311) -- Hyde gives Eric advice in his situation with Donna.

"Eric's Drunken Tattoo" (322) -- Hyde holds Eric's hand the whole time Eric's getting tattooed.

"Eric's Depression" (402) -- Hyde tries to get Eric out of bed and to cheer him up. When Eric refuses to leave, Hyde says, "Fine. If you're not going with us, we'll stay here with you." Kelso gets upset, "We're not going to Fun Land?" and Hyde frogs Kelso then sits on Eric's bed. He would have stayed had Eric not made it clear he really wanted to be alone.

"The Relapse" (406) -- Hyde listened to Eric about his sitch with Donna.

"The Third Wheel" (411) -- Hyde dumps his girlfriend to spend more time with a single, lonely Eric. And he lies about what happened to Eric, saying the chick dumped him, so Eric wouldn't feel like Hyde was pitying him.

"Donna Dates a Kelso" (416) -- Hyde supports Eric in his ridicule of Donna being set up with Casey.

"Kelso's Career" (417) -- Hyde offers Eric his genuine support but cloaks it in teasing. Eric: Okay, so I was in the kitchen, and Red came in, and I was gonna tell him I loved him, but then he said if my hair got any longer, he was gonna buy me a pair of boobs. Hyde: Yeah, you're in a tough spot. But just know I'm here for you -- because I love you. You know what would make Forman feel better? A piece of that candy [points to Fez's box of candy].

"Class Picture" (420) -- We learn that a six-year-old Hyde became Eric's bodyguard for a quarter. Regardless of the payment, Hyde's protectiveness for Eric remained -- without payment.

"Eric's Corvette Caper" (422) -- Hyde both burns Eric and helps Eric with his Red/corvette situation.

"Eric's False Alarm" (425) -- 1) Hyde tells Kelso not to burn Eric with the info about Donna, Casey, and the hotel room. Hyde: Kelso, he's gonna take it really hard, man. So we just need to keep our mouths shut. 2) Hyde expresses his solidarity to Eric about the sitch. Hyde: Man, I don't like it either. But there is one thing you can do. I believe you have a stack of Playboys underneath your bed. Go use 'em. 3) Hyde pulls the Le Motel's fire alarm all night (not just for a few minutes -- but hours) to keep Donna and Casey from potentially consummating their relationship. Eric then finds Hyde the next morning asleep in his clothes from the day before.

"Everybody Loves Casey" (426) -- Hyde questions Donna about her choice of Casey -- after Eric's made it clear he wants Donna back.

"Going to California" (501) -- Hyde buys Eric a plane ticket to California (granted, with Eric's own money) so Eric can get Donna back.

"Ramble On" (505) -- Hyde helps Eric understand why Donna would get him such an ugly ring.

"Hot Dog" (507) -- Hyde (meaning well) tries to protect Eric from making the same mistake he did in "The Promise Ring".

"When the Levee Breaks" (515) -- Hyde tries to warn Eric that Kitty knows about his engagement to Donna.

There's more, but I think I've made my point. :lol:

Hyde was someone who cared deeply for people, and this made him vulnerable. So he often deflected/cloaked his true intentions with/in "self-serving" reasons. He wanted to support those he loved without being hurt by supporting them. Makes for a complex and interesting character.
