I think Ive read, seen or heard every interview of his and his sense of humor is a lot like Eric's ....deadpan + witty without trying hard to be so + very dry + self deprecating.


Either he imbued himself into Eric over the years or because those were still the growing up years for the young cast, it was the other way round and the characters somehow stuck with the actors. Either ways, Its all good, Jess.

Eric pissed me off when he said that to Jackie, only because he'd used that same metaphor/expression before with a previous girlfriend of Hyde's (Jill -- bowling chick). Hence, why in the comics Eric's friends question why he has such an issue with Hyde having a girl.

I would have to agree with u on the bowling chick episode in S4 , Lees. Possibly , the only time in the series that I felt Eric was taking Hyde for granted ...Hyde at that point wasnt often in relationships so EF shud have been cheering him on a bit more. I always hate it when guys push their friends to choose ' their mates over a broad' ( and yet they mite not return the favour)

although in early S5, I did not feel that Eric's reaction was per se unsupportive of Hyde. I always saw that as EF & DP genuinely worrying how that might impact Kelso ....also, the next episode, when Hyde tells Eric he might be seeing Jackie for a longer while ...and Eric goes ' dude, but she's the devil' or something like that ...I really saw it as him caring for his friend rather than anything else - his view of Hyde was the epitome of cool maybe ? and Jackie as the anti cool - high maintenence type ?

Loved how the writers took that scene forward with Hyde asking him to picture Jackie on the deserted Island ...LOL.
I also like the scene later in S5 where when Hyde and Kelso almost brawl physically - the way Eric stops them .... I hated how EF's character lost some of that by S7 , when he was gloating over Kelso sleeping with Hyde's sister....( I mean it was funny, but he kept doing it throughout the episode which is unlike S1 - S6 eric.)

Eric not wanting Hyde to date Jackie (at first) makes total sense. Eric really didn't like Jackie, and he also didn't seem to care too much how Kelso cheated on her and broke her heart.

Donna, on the other hand, knew better.
