 Classic Comics Sunday --- Those ’70s Comics: 556 Inspired by episode 503 - “What Is and What Should Never Be”  --- Comments: Jackie and Hyde, when written consistently and in-character, inspire each other to grow and change. Classic Comics Saturday --- Those ’70s Comics: 557 Inspired by episode 503 - “What Is and What Should Never Be”  --- Comments: Donna and Eric characterizing Jackie as an adulterous on the show does a disservice not only to Jackie but to Donna and Eric’s characters, as well. Neither Donna nor Eric were so dumb as to think of Jackie as an adulterous. That would mean they viewed Jackie as Kelso’s girlfriend, despite that Jackie had broken up with Kelso and Kelso had run off on her to California and slept with other girls there, as witnessed by Donna. The writing in this episode seems to want us to believe Kelso’s attitude about Jackie is right: she has to remain faithful to him even if they’re not together, even while he sleeps with whomever he wants. She isn’t mistreating him by finding happiness with Hyde, yet she’s treated worse by her friends (and the writing) than Kelso is after all the cheating he’s done on her. It’s flabbergasting. __________________
