 Classic Comics Saturday Those '70s Comics: 62 Inspired by episode 201 - “Garage Sale” --- Comments: The comics were just beginning to become novelistic in nature, and I skipped over Jackie and Fez’s storyline in this episode. Were I to go back and explore its subtext, Jackie’s enjoyment of Fez’s kiss would not be about Fez himself but about his technique. Kelso and Laurie hadn’t begun their affair yet, and Kelso wasn’t very experienced in intimate technique. Jackie didn’t have the experience to teach him, either, and Fez introduced her to something Kelso simply couldn’t have. But, as we’ve seen in previous (and will see in future) episodes, she doesn’t want Fez’s romantic words and rolling tongue. She wants Kelso to be capable of doing and giving her the same kinds of things. For her, the giver is more important than what he’s giving—despite her seeming superficiality. Huh. Think I may have another essay to write. --- Colleen, Kayla, thank you, as always!  __________________
