I keep thinking of Kelso as Homer Simpson.

If he and Brooke took their kids to the zoo, ~~Homer~~ Kelso would somehow end up in one of the animal environments.

Maybe when Kelso's friends watched The Simpsons, and Homer's character d/evolved into what he eventually becomes, they'd all call one other to ask if the character is actually based on Kelso.

Could have, too. Topher Grace played a character on the show for an ep.

Maybe Kelso would get a part on The Simpsons for an ep, but it would be cut down to one line, "Huh?" when the ep aired.

In the end, after Kelso got over his disappointment, maybe he'd think it was cool he ended up in a Simpsons episode at all. And he'd show it to his friends and daughter as many times as they'd tolerate.
