Matt, for Red about that particular situation, I'd say you're right.

Colleen, Red doesn't want the kids in his house doing things at all that one should possibly/probably know about.

Red is clearly emotional when Hyde leaves to move in with Bud, and he's as close to crying as he gets when Eric leaves for Africa. But those are his kids. Not sure he'd feel the same way about any of the others.

I like to think Red has a bit of a soft spot for Jackie even if he can't admit it. Maybe stemming back to "Career day" when she helped him with his car. He seemed really fond of her then.

I wish we'd gotten more positive development for Red and Jackie's relationship post-"Career Day," but it's not really in the show. In "Misty Mountain Hop," his cut piece of dialogue (which I've talked about before) has him being quite hostile toward her.

As written, I don't think he'd miss Jackie. But if the show had continued the thread begun in "Career Day," then they could've had an interesting dynamic -- especially once Hyde falls in love with her.

I wish we got more moments with them like that after career day. I did like when he patted her head after she found out her dad was going to prison and even though his pep talk wasn't the greatest, he did seem to kind of try.

Yes, that pat on the head did cross my mind when I wrote my previous post. It's one of the only indications that Red has any paternal, protective feelings toward Jackie at all.

I think as far as Red and Jackie go, their best episode will always be career day. I really wish we had gotten more episodes like that.

Agreed. In later episodes, they could've had hilarious bonding moments over their frustration with Eric.
