Sure does. But their engagement would've been richer had the writers done the work to finish out D/E's S1-S4 arc in a satisfying way instead of ending it with two sentences. We got four seasons of character development that needed a proper resolution to move D/E to the next stage of their relationship.

If the writers had done that properly, maybe Eric wouldn't have regressed in season 6. He and Donna could have dealt with new facets of themselves and their relationship instead of rehashing stuff that should have been dealt with earlier on.

If they didn't talk about what broke them up, how could they realistically move forward?

Exactly. They'll keep making the same mistakes.

They will be stuck in the same vicious cycle forever.

Or they'll get a divorce.

That'd be bad because in the end, I think they made a great couple and could stay together for the rest of their lives. If they deal with their issues properly...

And I think both Eric and Donna are capable of that. They both have to recognize their insecurity and defensiveness and do their best not to react from those feelings. Easier said than done, of course.

As long as Eric and Donna kept actively working on it, though, they should be all right.

I always have faith that these two could work everything out and make it work.

I agree -- when they are able to truly hear and understand each other('s point of view).

I would've loved to have heard/seen a conversation about what broke them up in season 3, though. And them addressing the fact that Donna ended up in another committed relationship (on her end) not that long after she and Eric broke up -- when they broke up partially because she didn't want to be held back by/tided down a romantic relationship.

I would have loved to see that conversation too. They needed to have that conversation!

They did. Then we could've skipped their story arc in season 6 and gotten something more in-character, interesting, and funny.

That was one of the many things that could have been fixed.

And then their friends wouldn't get sick of hearing about their relationship.
