That would have been great to actually see play out on screen.

Wasted opportunities. *says it forever*

Instead of spending a whole season where Eric tries to figure out what his career-passion in life could be, Donna could've helped him in a well-written episode to figure it out.

Oh my gosh yes! That would have been such a great bonding moment for them!

And finally we'd get more of who Eric is -- with Donna's help.

For someone who was somewhat at the center of the show, we really don't know all that much about him. So this would've been a great opportunity.

It's really bizarre that the writers didn't fill out Eric's personality more. We see him being sarcastic, caring, sexist, understanding, willing to admit he's wrong, making mistakes in judgment, being a jerk -- all sorts of personality traits, but what does he like? Beyond Spider-Man, Smokey and the Bandit, Star Wars, his G.I. Joe (and other) action figures, Donna, sex with Donna, and nudie mags?

He's a hard worker, that one S6 ep aside. He's a good people-person when he wants to be. He's more athletic than Red gives him credit for (e.g., he's got good balance, dexterity, agility, etc.). But what would he enjoy as a career? Unlike with Donna, Jackie, Fez, Kelso, and Hyde, Eric's a total blank. .

That is such a good point. Eric was the "center", it was his basement but yet I feel I know the least about him.

Which is so weird! But maybe, partly, because he was supposed to be our cypher or an everyman. We could think of ourselves in his place ... but no. Give him a passion (or five).

I just always wanted to know where he would end up career wise. Everyone else I can at least guess at, but Eric...no clue.

Red should not have spent Eric's college money, and I don't think he actually would have. It was to rationalize why Eric didn't go to college in season 7. I'm surprised that Donna didn't throw a(n understandable) fit because she delayed going to college for another year, too.

Meanwhile, Jackie somehow hadn't graduated high school yet. She had to repeat her senior year.

Yeah...the timeline of the show is something that annoys me sometimes so I try to ignore it, it works easier that way.

Yeah, it does -- except for writing fanfic. But in the comics, I came up with the concept of Point Place Time (tm), and that works for some laughs, too.

Sticking with the theme of surprise parties from the Zen thread, how about Eric throwing Donna a surprise party for her 21st birthday? He would recruit his mom and his friends, and his friends would all probably mess with him some way.

Oh Eric would need help throwing a party, if he tried to do it himself I can see it going horribly wrong.

If he tried to set up the party alone, it would probably consist of a single balloon, a beer, and a bag of chips.
