Red might end up in that cave with Eric if he got a talking-to from all the women in the neighborhood, including his wife.

But Donna would probably rescue Eric from that cave before too long.

That is very true. Eric was very smart, and a good guy. Just sometimes it took him a bit to realize what was right.
