The way to save him from that is just to tell Kitty how you know Eric and/or Hyde. Then she won't feel like she needs to take you to the hospital.

Doctor Cloak: I can't see anything wrong with him.

Kitty: That's because your doctor's coat is over your head!

Doctor Cloak [laughing]: Oh, that's right! I was trying to put a patient at ease, and I must have forgotten to put the coat back on properly. [With the coat no longer over his head:] So what seems to be the problem with this young man?

Kitty: Every time I ask him why he's at my house -- if he's a friend of my son or my son's best friend, who's like a son to me -- he doesn't answer me. He just laughs.

Doctor Cloak [laughing]: Maybe he finds your voice amusing. I certainly do.

Kitty: Dr. Cloak!

Doctor Cloak [more serious]: I'm sorry, Nurse Forman. You just have one of those voices. It's like a cartoon character. A very happy cartoon character.

Kitty: Excuse me?

Dr. Cloak: Okay, now you sound angry, but -- darn it -- you still sound funny! [Laughs.]

He's a different doctor on T7S than the one I meant to portray (I've now realized, prompted by your comment and thanks to my looking up a scene). In "Career Day" (1x18) Dr. Ashley is shown to be rather incompetent.

DR. ASHLEY: All right, let's start Mr. Harris on a full course of penicillin.
KITTY: Um, Doctor, you might wanna consider erythromycin.
DR. ASHLEY: And why would I want to do that, nurse?
KITTY: Well, it's just that uh ... Mr. Harris is allergic to penicillin, and I thought that erythromycin might make him a touch less dead.
ERIC: I know that when I go to the hospital, I like to not die.
