I love that scene in Grandma's dead. I wish we had gotten more of that after season one.

Even getting one of those a season would've been great, just to remind us that Red's relationship with Eric does have a softer side that's more apparent, rather than so rare that Eric barely believes when his dad gives him any kind of praise, etc. Although the ep with Red's drug-fueled, "I love you," is hilarious.

I loved whenever Red's softer side came out. It just made for some of my favorite moments.

Same. At least we got them between him and Kitty pretty consistently.

I like when he gave Fez advice, too, in "Hyde Gets the Girl". It might've been the first time Red treated him with any real kind of respect.

That was a good moment for both of them. We did not really get many moments of that with Red and Fez.

We didn't. Their season 6 ep where Red leaves him in the car for hours, in freezing weather, was written for laughs and not true relationship development. Yes, Fez interprets Red's words toward the end as Red including him as part of the family, but it's really just a punchline, not true growth.

Red and Eric's scene at the end of "That Wrestling Show" (1x15) is so sweet -- well, the end-end of that scene. And Red's also loving with Eric in "Grandma's Dead" (1x23), but the writers or showrunners probably thought Red needed to be even tougher and more of a hardass than he was depicted as being in season 1, so they eradicated those kinds of moments between him and Eric.

Closing off that part of Red did create more humorous conflict between him him and Eric, but I think certain opportunities were missed.
