And even though the fact they continue to have the hots for each other freaks out Eric, he's also wants a relationship like that. It's clear their mostly happy marriage is a huge reason he wants the same thing for himself.

I think it was obvious to Eric and most of his friends. I'm a little surprised that we don't get Donna's thoughts about them, though, except in the sense she thinks Eric can't understand her family turmoil since he's got the "perfect family".

She probably was to some degree. That was really funny seeing Donna in with Kitty's hairstyle when Eric was all uncomfortable with them hanging out.

I'm glad they didn't push the Red & Kitty ribbing over the edge to being disrespectfully mean, like Fred & Ethyl or certain other sitcom parents. With the Foremans it seemed more like naive assumptions or obliviousness, than purposeful jabbing.

I don't think anyone would disagree that Kurtwood as Red was great casting, but how long would the show have lasted if Chuck Norris had accepted the role as initially planned?

Yeah, I think so, too. Or, at least, jealous of how devoted Red and Kitty are to each other, and the stability that created.

Donna wanted stable parents and I think that's what Red and Kitty represented to her.

Even though Red scared her.

But she clearly wanted some boundaries from her parents -- in several senses. Like them keeping their sex life away from her. And them giving her consequences for misbehaving, as a show of, "We love you and want to guide you toward a fulfilling, happy life."

I agree. I think that's why Donna acted out at times, she was trying to get some kind of reaction out of her parents.
