It's like Hyde with his, "I love you". When he says it, it's got the impact of 1000 of them. WHY DIDN'T WE GET TO HEAR HIM SAY IT AGAIN TO JACKIE?

Did we ever hear Red say, "I love you," to Kitty? I don't remember, but he said things similar to that -- and I don't count his, "My love for you consumes me like a fiery passion" (paraphrased) in "Leo Loves Kitty".

Either way, it was clear during seasons 1-4 (and some of season 5) how much Red loves Kitty, even if he never said the words directly. So Jackie has little to fear.

You know, I can’t remember Red saying the words ‘I love you’ just like that to Kitty. He’s said things that show how much he loves her. There was the ‘You know what I love about you?’ ‘What?’ ‘Lots of stuff’ And…Oh wait! He did say the words ‘I love you, Kitty’ in Red’s last day when he was drunk lol I love Kitty’s reaction to that, too funny. That was another all time favorite Red and Kitty scenes back when the show could be serious and not just a bunch of cheap laughs, it still had a lot of heart. That scene actually reminds me a lot of a scene that you could find in ‘All in the Family’ with Archie and Edith. Which says a lot considering how high those two actors are in my book.

But anyway, it’s true I don’t think Kitty or Jackie had to worry about the way their men felt about them. And in my head Red’s ‘I love yous’ to Kitty were probably said more in private where it was sure just to be the two of them and with how similar Hyde and Red are I’m sure the same could be said for Hyde’s ‘I love yous’ to Jackie

I agree, I don't remember hearing Red ever say " I love you" to Kitty, but he sure showed it a lot. Just like Hyde may have only said " I love you" once to Jackie but we got to see it, which is almost better.

to your comments, Prissy. Red and Kitty had so many loving moments between them during S1-S4, that hearing the words, "I love you" wasn't necessary. For example, Kitty kissing Red awake on his birthday, singing to him, and his big grin. That moment shows us the love.

I agree. Kelso said, "I love you," to Jackie all the time, but the words had little substance behind them. I just wish we'd gotten one more, "I love you" from Hyde -- during peace time. It would've been really potent. But he did show it -- and how much he was in love with Jackie. And the characters around Hyde always told him he loved Jackie or imitated-burned him and said, "I love you, baby," to an imaginary Jackie. So the show made it clear (S5-S7) how Hyde felt about her.

I don't think that Jackie and Hyde are necessarily like Kitty and Red (mostly because Jackie really isn't like Kitty), but I do think the dynamic between them is very similar to Kitty and Red's. Jackie's the only one who can get Hyde to do things he wouldn't otherwise do. Same thing with Kitty and Red. Red doesn't express his feelings in public, but he does to Kitty. Same with Hyde and Jackie -- at least, eventually. See "Magic Bus" for a moment like that.

Hyde and Red both keep their feelings close to the vest, but Hyde's emotions surface much more easily than Red's. In general, he's more sensitive than Red is. He accepts and respects Eric for the kind of man he is and has a close bond with him, whereas Red doesn't understand Eric all too well. Red's a very hard worker, and Hyde tries to get away with as much not-working as possible at his jobs.

Kitty is generally super-compassionate, and Jackie mostly reserves her compassion for Hyde (and herself ). Jackie is generally super judgmental, and Kitty reserves her judgmentalness for special occasions. Kitty is a helper and often gives to others at the detriment of herself. Jackie is a taker and often wants others to give to her at the detriment of themselves. Kitty's passion is being a mother and a nurse. Jackie's passion is being rich and famous.

So on a character level, Jackie and Kitty have some similarities, but, imo, their biggest similarity is the effect they have on their men -- and the dynamic between them and their men.
