KELSO: Wha… Forman, you can't give up. Okay, look. Who knows what's gonna happen with me and Jackie. But what you and Donna had? That was, like, real. And I'm telling you, as his brother… Look, Casey is bad news. He's either gonna get bored and split, or something worse is gonna happen. So, you gotta do something.
Yeah, that's one of Kelso's best moments. Another is in "Romantic Weekend" (3x16), where he genuinely apologizes to Jackie and finally empathizes with the pain he caused her -- without expecting to get a reward. Too bad he takes his apology back in "Everybody Loves Casey" (4x26) and shows himself to be a total misogynist. Instead of owning his behavior, he blames it on Jackie -- for something we never see her do on the show. Even if Jackie had criticized him for not getting her Tater Tots and claimed he'll never be able to support her in life because of that, it wouldn't excuse his horrible treatment of her. But she actually tries to build up his confidence more often than not and supports him in his endeavors. So ... no.

"Everybody Loves Casey" is a terrible episode for him, leading to a terrible season for him (season 5). At least he starts to grow and change in season 6. I think he had potential to become a likable character, but the writers kept bumping him back to status quo.

I liked Kelso best, when he was with Brooke and having a baby. He was really growing then and then they just changed it like it never happened.

Yeah. The writers tended to revert Kelso back to status quo after his character actually developed.

I haven't seen it but was "dude where's my car?" basically Kelso: the movie?

S-6.E-11: I Can See For Miles...
Where Eric & Donna took Kelso's van without asking & it plummeted off mount hump.

I just remember seeing the commercial for "dude" & thinking it seemed like the same character. Didn't it come out while T7S was still in it's original run?

Also, not really related, but around that time I remember being at Blockbuster video & seeing a wall of "the butterfly effect" on vhs & dvd all checked out.

Generally, it could be characterized that way. But once a person gets into specifics about the two characters AK plays, not quite. But the characters are of a similar type, and the movie was written by a T7S writer -- who's responsible for some of the best and worst T7S eps.

. T7S began airing in 1998. Dude, Where's My Car? came out in 2000.

The Butterfly Effect is an interesting movie. AK's character in it is nothing at all like Kelso.

I have to admit " Dude where's my car", while being absolutely ridiculous, it is a guilty pleasure movie of Matt and mine. We saw it for 5 dollars at Best Buy one day and had to get it.

Not a bad price. If you guys ever misplace the DVD, though, do you ever say, "Dude, where's my DVD?"

Haha, well now I have to do that!

Misplace it on purpose just to say that?

Kelso might do something like that -- but then he really wouldn't be able to find the DVD because he'd forget where he put it.

About Kelso resembling Vinnie Barbarino, he did act like Travolta when Red wanted him to do that pricemart commercial. More Tony Manero than Barbarino, but still. I could see the jaw, chin, hair & build being similar to 70's Travolta, but sometimes I thought he looked kinda like Michael York from "Logan's Run" the film not Logan from the t.v. series.

There was some ad a while ago where Kutcher had on different disguises & one of them was a burly biker just the way Hyde looked on T7S high school reunion episode.

Being that I always misplace stupid stuff anyway, and find it hours later there is a good chance of that happening anyway!

I googled images of him in the movie, and agree to disagree. But maybe I'd have to see him in motion to see the resemblance.

Kelso doing a Tony Manero impression is so what he would do for that industrial film. Trying to get his big break. Eric was definitely the right man for the job.

Aww! One of these days, you should say the line when you misplace something and see how Matt reacts.

That movie where Kutcher played Steve Jobs was like watching some kind of butterfly effect where instead of Kelso modifying the Forman's pong console, elsewhere he became a sort of Kelso/Hyde hybrid, sans comedy.

I might have to make that a goal now.
