• • • 1x01 the first scene • • •
by Anna {annablake}

As my favourite Chuck & Blair scene I've chosen their very first one, in 1.01. Except for the obvious reason of them exchanging their first lines of conversation ever, I love the scene for many other reasons. Imho, as a pairing they quickly came to symbolize something new on a teenage show, and all was hinted at in their first scene. We have seen the bad guy/good girl combo too many times to count in fiction already. We've also seen the good guy saving (and thus changing) the bad girl plenty of times. But two "bad" characters getting together? Two darker characters falling desperately & passionately in love, forming an intense bond the likes of which we rarely, if ever, see on teenage shows? That for me was something new, incredibly fresh and fascinating.

In their first scene we see them standing together side by side, watching the “good characters”, Dan, Serena and Jenny, leave the UES party together. (Jenny with her darker clothes but light hair/blue eyes is a mix of both. She’s still innocent and “pure” but is hungry for power.) There is an intensity in Chuck and Blair’s eyes, reflecting each other’s mood. There is a darker expression on both of their faces whereas Dan/Serena/Jenny are smiling and showing off a lightness/easiness in their demeanour. C&B wear dark, high fashion clothes. They’re also both dark-haired, have dark eyes and are standing with the dark-purplish party-lights as a background, thus juxtaposing the lighter characters with their smiles, lighter hair and clothes, walking towards the cab under the street lights. Chuck and Blair are watching the “normal characters” leave, escaping into the lights of the city, while they stay behind in the darkness of the decadent UES party, watching and observing. They are both UES born and bred, two schemers & masterminds secretly ruling Manhattan, operating behind the curtains while the other characters mainly (from their POV) serve as pawns in their constant game of power and influence.

In the scene, Blair eventually starts talking to Chuck without even turning to see who’s standing behind her. She immediately senses it’s him. Even in this very first episode they already have such a bond and an ability to feel each other without changing even one look or word. They are immediately in tune as soon as they’re physically close to each other. When Blair finally turns and they exchange their first look it becomes clear that even with such a short scene they manage to steal the entire first episode. Time freezes and we all feel it: THIS is the kind of chemistry which creates epic couples; this is the kind of chemistry which could dominate a whole show. And that was only the beginning. The intensity in that one look, the way in which they exchange a short glance, surpasses everything so far in the episode. And this is even before they fall in love. I don’t have a favourite line from this first scene because for me that look triumphs any dialogue they could have ever exchanged. It says everything which needed to be said in that moment.

The music played during the scene is “The Gift” by Angels and Airwaves which fits perfectly. The text sung during the CB scene:

And suddenly
You’ve done it all
You won me over
In no time at all

To me it parallels Chuck and Blair’s bond and how quickly they get in tune with each other’s wants and needs, especially when it comes to power play and scheming, lol.

The purple theme is amazing.

Their very first scene ends with a smile on Blair’s face. Clearly a good omen for things to come.

by Leticia {firefliesCB}

A fun fact about this scene (which says a lot why this scene is amazing): my friend was watching Gossip Girl S1 with me, she knew Blair was virgin and that she wanted to lose it to Nate. When she watched that scene she said: “Blair will lose her virginity to Chuck, right? HEY, DON’T TELL ME, I WANT TO WATCH IT!”
I was ready to say “Yes, she will, they have an amazing chemistry, right?”
This little scene, but so full of perfection, shows us a lot about them, they think like each other, they have a very similar personality (manipulative, vengeful) and shows one of the most important thing: Blair is Chuck’s friends and Chuck is Blair’s friend, they don’t only see each other when they are with Nate.
I didn’t have the same luck of my friend when I first watched that scene, I already knew she would lost it to Chuck in episode 1x07, but when I first saw it, I truly thought it would happen that episode, that was one of my favorite episodes for CB, we saw what they do at their best (besides, maybe, make-out): scheming together against one enemy in common (Poor Serena).
And matching their uniform… High School CB was full of perfection, when Chuck behaved like a teenager and Blair wore headbands, they weren’t even having an affair and already matching!
Find a song that fit this scene was hard, I’m too biased to search for a song without a romantic context, but I found one that shows a bit of CB friendship, the song is Meteor Shower by Owl City:
I can finally see,
That you're right there beside me,
I am not my own,
For I have been made new
Please don't let me go,
I desperately need you

I guess it is kind of dramatic for the situation, but this is totally about them! Quoting little J, together they are invincible, and we first saw that on this scene, the scene I started to ship them for real.

Favorite parallel

I really love that Chuck said “you can pay me other time” and then… the make-out session on 1x10.
And “this is your bed, huh?”. They had no idea all the things that bed would see (talking like that, I sound like I’m crazy). You all know CB have a thing for inanimate objects.

• • • 1x07 "And you're my toughest critic." • • •
by Jaime {jcox20}

There are two different perspectives as to why I love this scene. The first time I watched I was fascinated at just how significant this friendship between Chuck and Blair was. Previously we’d only seen them bonding over a shared devious mind and that was all, in this scene we see that it is so much more. We saw just how much Chuck respects and values Blair’s opinion “You are my toughest critic, well second toughest” and we see that Blair we got to see that she knows him, knows his relationship with his father and she sees his potential, we also see for the first time Blair’s belief and support in him (“Don’t be nervous, he’s going to love it”). Also, there is something about the thought of Chuck and Blair sharing a ride to school that warms my heart.
Re-watching this scene recently I love the way it almost seamlessly fits into what is happening in the story now especially in regards to Chuck. It gives a minor set up for Chuck’s struggles between his father and Blair, the two most important people to him and his two biggest critics, the people he wants to please the most.

The emotions I felt the first time I watched it are pretty simple I enjoyed it, I loved their chemistry, the ease they had with each other, and I was curious about their friendship (I was also excited with anticipation since I was spoiled and knew what was to come). I just loved the simplicity of the scene that set up so much.
As for how many times I’ve watched it I really can’t say – I’ve watched it the same amount of times as I’ve watched the limo scene and that is ALOT.

I honestly find it hard to attach a song to this scene because it is such a small and simple scene and the background song isn’t that prominent and doesn’t add a whole lot to the scene itself. If I had to pick a song though I keep going to “One Week of Danger” so I’ll say that one.

It’s the scene with the awesome Blair headband so I loved their fashion in this scene. Blair’s outfit was the perfect Blair outfit complete with the big red bow headband. Chuck’s outfit honestly wasn’t his best from that season but one thing I love about it is how it is similar to how Chuck dresses now, I find it a bit amusing that its obviously Chuck’s “I’m a business man” outfit.
I wouldn’t say they were exactly matching or at least to the degree they do now. But their outfits were complementary to one another - Both had dark suit jackets that where cut the same as well as both having striped shirts. The complemented each other and the background of the scene well.

by kjewls

Setting the Scene:
Chuck and Blair are both at a crossroads in their lives. Each has come to understand certain truths about who they are, who they love, and what destiny has in store for them. As for Chuck, he has finally come to see himself as more than just a trust fund baby / playboy partier.

“Victor, Victrola” marks the first glimpse we get of Chuck Bass as the savvy businessman we know he will eventually become. Sure, Chuck’s initial rationale behind opening the burlesque nightclub, Victrola, may have been to gain his father’s approval. But as Chuck worked to accomplish this goal, he realized that he was not just doing it for his father, but also for himself.
When we find Chuck in this scene, he is in a very good place, emotionally, and psychologically. He has just received his father’s approval, and has finally begun to believe in himself. Additionally, in seeing, firsthand, the way that his father feels about Lily, Chuck is beginning to realize that being a Bass Business Tycoon, and being a man capable of experiencing true love, are not necessarily two exclusive concepts.

As for Blair, she has finally accepted that true love is more than just two people looking “cute” together in pictures, or being a “good match on paper.” True lovers have to want the same things as one another. They have to be willing to open up to one another, and let each other see their flaws, and their weaknesses. Most importantly, true love requires passion and chemistry . . . neither of which can be faked.
When Blair finally admitted to herself that Nate would never love her the way he loved Serena . . . and that the two of them would never be capable of forming a long lasting relationship together, she thought she’d be devastated and heartbroken. But she wasn’t. She was relieved.
Because, deep down, the whole time Blair was dating Nate, she knew that SOMETHING was missing. And now that she is single again, there is a part of her that feels FREE . . . free to discover the woman she was always meant to be . . . free to experience the passion she never felt for Nate . . . free to fall head over heels in love with someone ELSE entirely . . .

The Outfit:
This episode’s burlesque theme was all about making what was once old, new again, while allowing those who felt buttoned-up and repressed, to cut loose, through a free expression of femininity and sexuality. Fittingly, Blair’s mint-colored dress, with its lacy top, high ruffled neckline, long flowing sleeves, and the pearls she wears around her neck, would be completely at home on a wealthy society woman, living during the 1920’s, when burlesque clubs were in their heyday.
While wearing this outfit (though, of course, she looks gorgeous in it), we see that Blair is stifled. Our Queen B is trying to fit in the box society has created for her. She is attempting to be the perfect “little woman,” and the perfect girlfriend for Nate. But when Blair steps on that stage, and LITERALLY lets her hair down, by tossing off her trademark gold headband, that’s when we see Blair’s true self.
In sharp contrast to the gaudy red bustiers of her fellow burlesque dancers, Blair’s ivory satin negligee is modern, elegant, and feminine, while still undoubtedly sexy . . . just like Blair, herself. No wonder Chuck’s mouth drops open the first time he sees it! Speaking of Chuck, I couldn’t help but notice how well the trademark purple and gold paisley bow tie he was wearing in the scene complemented Blair’s gold embroidered headband.

The Music:
“Stripper” by the Soho Dolls
This song perfectly captures the fun flirty naughtiness of Blair’s seduction of Chuck, as well as Chuck’s intense emotional and physical reaction to Blair’s strip tease. While the song’s wordless chorus, (“Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na-na”) is what most of us remember about the song, in the context of the scene, I suspect that when selecting it, the producers of the show were drawn to THESE lyrics, in particular:
Like you're perfume,
Your skin is smooth.
The way you move,
Im in the mood.
Tease the crowd,
Please the crowd,
I'm boiling i want you to see me now.
You get me girl,
When you're nervous well,
And when your hand is in the thong.
You may be right,
I close them tight,
You're saving the best for me tonight.

The perceptive viewer could see how the above lyrics could easily serve as an inner monologue for Chuck, as he watches the typically straight-laced Blair let loose for the first time. The club may be filled with partiers, and well-wishers, admiring the Baby Vamp. But as far as Chuck is concerned, there are only two people in Victrola: The Dark Knight and his Queen B.

Why I ADORE this scene:
“Victor, Victrola” introduced us to a side of Blair Waldorf us Gossip Girl fans had never seen before . . . one that Chuck had never seen before. Some fans might have initially assumed, based on what we had learned about this prim and proper character, thus far, that Blair would have balked at the notion of hanging out in a burlesque club, and watching women (some of them drag queens) stripping to the loud music, and lewd cheers of drunken business men. But the Blair we see here is EXCITED by what she is seeing, and even, I suspect, a bit turned on by it. Watch her in the opening moments of the scene, as she smiles with approval, bobs her head to the music, leans forward to get a better look, and seductively sips her champagne.

Blair’s new and adventurous attitude does not go unnoticed by Chuck. At the beginning of the scene, he is content, relaxed, and possibly, a bit inebriated. Lounging back on the couch, head tilted sideways, legs sprawled out in front of him, eyes half-open, he’s just barely aware of what’s happening in front of him. But seeing Blair react the way she does to the dancers’ that HE hired, in the club HE developed, awakens something in Chuck. And surprisingly, what it awakens, at least initially, is NOT sexual.

Chuck knows instinctively that what brought Blair to the club was more than just a desire to see strippers. He senses something has gone amiss in the Blair / Nate relationship. And even though he already has strong feelings for Blair, and even though he knows deep down that Nate is not the one for her, Chuck still loves Blair enough to not want to see her in pain. So, despite the fact, that he would love to just sit next to Blair, drink champagne and watch strippers, he is willing to let her cry on his shoulder. “I know you don’t want to talk about what happened, but . .” he begins, even though he assumes that what she is going to say is not what he wants to hear.

Fortunately for Chuck, Blair has other plans for the evening. And that’s when she tells him that she’s “got moves.” Observe how Chuck’s body posture changes immediately upon hearing these words. No longer lounging, Chuck’s whole body is now at attention. He grins from ear-to-ear, and subtly moves his body closer to her, eager to see where THIS conversation will take them.

At this point, deep down, Chuck doesn’t think anything will come of this course of dialogue. So, he teases Blair, and eggs her on, just for the fun of it, enjoying the witty back and forth of their trademark banter. But even in this “harmless talk” there is a moment of sweetness in the exchange, in which Chuck tells Blair, quite honestly, that he thinks she is hotter than all the women on stage. Perhaps, it is the compliment, along with her belief, that Chuck simply doesn’t see her as the KIND of girl who would ever strip on stage, that convinces her to actually do it.

The look on Chuck’s face, when Blair gets up is classic . . . a mixture of amusement, shock, admiration, and, of course, arousal. We all know that Ed Westwick is an accomplished actor. When discussing his impressive skill, we tend to use as examples, angsty monologues, and romantic interludes. But, honestly, I think Westwick’s performance in THIS scene was one of his most masterful in all of GG history. And he did it, while barely saying anything at all.

My favorite part of this scene was the myriad of expressive emotions that pass over Chuck’s face, as he observes Blair dancing . . . We see:
(1) the knowing smirk on his lips, when Blair throws her headband into the crowd, symbolically dropping the façade of the uptight Upper East Side Society girl;
(2) the rapt and almost mesmerized expression on his face, when Blair first unzips her dress, revealing the negligee underneath;
(3) the slow, dazed way he rises from his seat, moving toward her, almost as if in a trance, to get a better look;
(4) the look of befuddled amazement on his face, when the drag queen asks him about Blair, and he realizes he doesn’t know her nearly as well as he thought he did;
(5) the expression of pride on his face as the crowd just eats up the woman he loves (most men would be jealous, but not Chuck);
(6) the obvious evidence of Chuck’s arousal, as he licks his lips, toys with his collar, and takes a drink; and finally . . .
(7) the grudging acceptance that Blair has beat him in this game of wills, he raises his glass to her, admitting defeat.

After all, in the course of about three minutes, Chuck Bass has now fallen more totally and completely in love with Blair Waldorf than he ever thought possible.

Blair undergoes a multitude of varying emotions during this dance as well. At first, it is just an act of seduction for her. She is playing the part of the Baby Vamp, and knows the effect her beauty is having on the crowd. But as Blair dances, she comes to enjoy it more and more. She gets wrapped up in the excitement and joy of it all, and feels happier and more comfortable in her own skin than she has in a long time. She looks to Chuck, the only person in the room, who TRULY understands what she is experiencing right now.

And in that moment, the rest of the room vanishes. As far as Chuck and Blair are concerned, they are the only two people in the room. Their expressions convert instantly from amusement to intense passion. THIS Eye Sex of the most DANGEROUS kind! As they stare intently at one another, Chuck and Blair know that they are about to travel to the Point of No Return in their relationship, and it scares them, as much as it invigorates, and excites them.

• • • 1x07 Limo!sex scene • • •
by Iszy {Iszy}

Why I love this scene
It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this... It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss. ~‘Mr Brightside’ by the Killers.

This iconic scene is their first time, where it all started (the beginning of a EPIC ship) and is my favourite CB scene. It can be summed up in two words: LIMO SEX!

There's Chuck and Blair, in a limo, heading home. Deep in his own thoughts he murmurs in wonder “You were amazing up there”, not quite able to find the adequate words to describe her. Blair lets her eyes travel over him and you can see the wheels turning in her head- the Upper East Side womaniser could be smarmy or even pervy to get what he wanted but in this moment, she realises he is speaking with utter truthfulness. She cutely shuffles toward him on the leather, until their shoulders touch and she instinctively leans her forehead on his. Completely entranced by the other, their eyes close and noses graze. He takes her lower lip between his and they sweetly kiss. Tenderly, if you can imagine it. It's like the first boy and the first girl of all time. See them holding hands? Chuck pulls back, knowing that if she does not stop him right now, he would not be able to let her go. See him asking her in a breathless whisper, “Are you sure?”. The screen goes grainy (the film cannot not handle the intensity) and she passionately kisses him in answer. She sees him, and nothing but him, and surprisingly it feels so good. Blair climbs onto him and melts into him. Under the New York City lights they make love, for the first time, on the backseat of a moving limo. The film falls off the projector altogether and burns itself white.

On this night, Blair was able to be totally free and be herself with Chuck. As their respective masks disappear when they are together and they are not afraid to show their true colours. This is nicely corresponds to the idea that in the limo, they are in their own intimate private world. Chuck and Blair have lies, veils and schemes just so they can stay alive but they can never pretend with each other and that is what they love and hate the most. So tomorrow is going to be hell, because nobody wants the shame of being seen, least of all these two.

Everything that happens with Chuck and Blair in the limo scene is spot-on and dare I say just a bit EPIC. This was the best first kiss that has been shown on Gossip Girl and is what all first kisses should aspire to. Also, this scene incorporates CB’s OT5: C + B + Limo + bowtie + tongue! I like to think that the writers had some idea of what they were creating that they made this first time so special compared to all the other couples. For instance, the gorgeous cinematography was totally unexpected and very unique for Gossip Girl. The film effects used in this scene made it that much more artistic and special, with the switch to sepia tones and film reel effect (a parallel to the old fashioned themed montage at the start of the episode) providing an old-Hollywood-film atmosphere. A nostalgic feeling... as if what they had was there all along.

I love Chuck’s voice when he asks Blair if she is sure. This sweet gesture shows a different side to Chuck and how much he respects her and truly cares about her compared to other girls (maybe because she has always been his friend and he knows her very well), as he would normally never ask such a thing. It makes it clear that this hook-up was a lot more to him than just sex, this was something deeper.

The scene was much more intimate and romantic than I thought it was going to be. Above all, an unmatched sweetness is shown. There was a decidedly un-rushed tender manner in which they explored each other, as though ingraining each other’s taste and feel into their senses, savouring the entire experience. This unique flavour of sweetness is one that Chuck and Blair reserve exclusively for one another. This was Blair’s first time and the first time it ever meant anything for Chuck. I do not think either realised quite how much this experience would brand them for life.

There will be no other man who will ever hold Blair like Chuck does, and she knows it. That is why she gives herself so genuinely. On this night, Blair is the quintessential ‘good girl gone bad’ and she makes the first move. Chuck and Blair end up making love, freely and passionately. They grab everything, it’s a contact sport. The intensity of this hook-up sizzles off the screen and it is still the hottest thing that has ever happened on Gossip girl! Ed and Leighton have undeniable chemistry and couldn’t be more into it if they tried.
The only thing wrong with the limo scene is that it should be longer. In actual fact it could have been as there is unaired footage out there. They need to show us it all! Case in point the frenemies tongue clip:

signaturescarf
There was a lot of foreshadowing of this hook-up in early season one. Interestingly every single time Blair tries to lose her virginity to Nate, Chuck is always hovering around in the background (or directly involved). The way you can know that this scene was the moment that changed everything for Chuck and Blair is to observe how much it has been on their minds since, with all the subsequent references to their first time in the limo. The most memorable would have to be this quote from 2x12:

The first time I watched this scene
A scene does not get over a million views on youtube, without a few re-watches!
I had no clue when I first watched the ‘Victor/Victrola’ episode what to expect or how special it would be. I was so shocked (positively) by this hook-up and I believe it is the best OMFG moment the show has ever had.
The start of gossip girl is a bit hazy in my mind. From what I can remember I did not like Chuck that much in the first episodes and Chuck and Blair were for me a totally unexpected couple to hook-up. Before this episode I had always thought that he was just flirting with her because that was what Chuck Bass did. However, watching this episode showed me how compatible they were and how much Chuck cares for Blair. It was the chemistry and potential I saw in the limo scene (it was so powerful and emotive) that caused me to start shipoing CB. It is the moment that I fell in love with them and they became too deeply entrenched in my heart to ever be extracted.
This scene NEVER EVER gets old and makes me nostalgic for the ‘good old days’ of Gossip Girl! Although, it always reaffirms my belief that they belong with each other and will be together in the end. While I have probably watched this scene more times than any other I am constantly presented with a dilemma: as I do not want to watch it too many times and lose its sacredness and the chills I still feel on re-watching, even three years later on.

Background Song

http://www.fanforum.com/members/chrism-136536/
Where everything’s nothing, without you!
This line is my favourite of the scene and sums up exactly what this scene was the start of- Chuck AND Blair, Blair AND Chuck! No matter what anyone says, they belong together and that will be true regardless of the years or the distance or the people between them. They know that no one could ever replace the other.
‘With Me’ by Sum 41 (Music + Gifspam Tumblr Post)
I don't want this moment
To ever end
Where everything's nothing, without you
[Chorus]
I want you to know
With everything, I won't let this go
These words are my heart and soul
And I'll hold on to this moment you know
As I bleed my heart out to show
And I'll hold on to this moment you know
As I bleed my heart out to show
And I won't let go

Gossip Girl introduced me to this song and got me hooked. This scene with this song was a match made in heaven because the song just makes this epic scene even better. It starts out slow and then as the chorus music builds Blair leans into kiss Chuck, I still get chills every time- best use of timing in a song EVER! Furthermore, these lyrics aptly describe what their relationship and this night has been to them ever since (now more so than ever). They started CB with these memorable lyrics for a reason, it is very much a hint that this was the start of something ‘big’.
This song means a lot to me. Every time I hear the song I think of Chuck and Blair and the limo scene. This is their song (their anthem)! When I am feeling nostalgic I can still put on ‘With Me’ and reminisce about the good old days of Gossip Girl.

One day when we were having one of our in depth discussion about CB’s wedding and also potential wedding songs I had a moment of inspiration and made the suggestion that an acoustic cover of ‘With Me’ should be used (‘full circle’ and all that). Someone found this version on youtube for me.

Chuck Bass likes to wear eccentric but smartly tailored designer cloth outfits. He has an abundance of suits up in his wardrobe and he never looks more comfortable than when he is in one. They provide him with a respectable and elegant air. Chuck would not be caught dead wearing a suit without any accessories and he is well-known for his assortment of bowties, which he can wear like nobody's business. The bow-tie provides an air of innocence to his bad boy demeanour.
In the limo scene he is wearing a three-piece suit in the limo that is quite plain by Chuck Bass standards. He offsets this with a particularly amazing paisley bow-tie (I am sure Blair loved ripping it off him in the back of his limo). While I am not a big fan of the bowtie it is very Chuck Bass to dress up a plain suit in such a way.
Blair’s fashion sense is definitely the quintessential upper-east-side princess stereotype and she is fitted in the very best money can buy. In the infamous dance scene she strips off her parental-perfect classic lace dress (Marc by Marc Jacobs Mia) to reveal a gorgeous beaded lace and silk champagne coloured lingerie slip dress underneath (Valentino S/S '07) and La Perla seamed stockings, both of which she wears for the rest of the night. Over the slip hang a long strand of black pearls and a knotted long strand of white pearls, which originally hung over the lace dress. Black sandals with a red platform (Christian Louboutin La Falaise shoes) complete the outfit. While not a big fan of the lace dress Blair wore, the slip dress was absolutely gorgeous and totally suitable for a passionate hook-up in the backseat of a limo.
Blair’s limo outfit is very reminiscent of the flapper style- essentially straight, waistless slip satin or silk dresses with decorative beading or fringe, hemmed at or above the knee, paired with long swingy beaded jewellery and sheer stockings– that was extremely fashionable in the 1920s and 30s. Flappers rejected the corsets that constricted Victorian women and their outfit symbolises increasing freedom for women. Flappers challenged women's traditional roles in courtship and family, helping to pioneer a redefinition of women's social roles and sexuality. I think this type of outfit is very symbolic for the night that Blair was able to be totally free for the first time and lost her virginity.

Fingertips have memories, they cannot forget you- from an unexpected night of passion to love. Limo scene (1x07) and fireplace scene (4x08).

In your arms, I am home. The way they tenderly hold each other (Ed and Leighton’s chemistry shines through in simple gestures such as this) suggests a world of intimacy into which we are allowed this small glimpse and it is enough to conjure up a wealth of emotional history. There will be no other who would ever hold them like that, and they know it. That is why they give themselves so genuinely.

The composition of this screen cap is an artwork in itself, it’s flawless and poignant- with Chuck’s hands tenderly splayed on Blair’s back holding her like a precious object (there will never be another man who will hold her like this), the reverent way Chuck’s fingers are trailing down her shoulders and pulling down the slip’s shoulder strap (sexiness personified), Blair’s doll-like hand (with her red love heart ring prominently displayed) delicately placed on Chuck’s collarbone over his bowtie and finally the fact that even though you cannot see their eyes (‘the window to the soul’) this doesn’t at all detract from the adoration and need depicted in this moment as their mouths meet in earnest. On a completely shallow note- Chuck’s chiselled jaw-line is drool worthy. The blurred streets of New York City above the limo’s backseat, in the background, with the ethereal colouring complete the PERFECTION!

The reason why I love this scene is because this is the scene where I started shipping CB. That’s why this scene will forever be special for me. I’ve started to like CB after the limo sex scene, but this scene is really ‘the’ scene for me. “I feel sick; like there is something in my stomach… fluttering.” Chuck has always been a womanizer; he has never thought that he’d fall for anyone. I’ve never thought that he’d fall for anyone too, but I was wrong. When Chuck Bass falls in love, he falls hard. There will be no going back. The more they are trying to deny their feelings, the more they are going to fall for each other. The playful and notorious womanizer with the strict and insecure girl, this sounds like a romantic comedy 101 cliché, but Chuck and Blair made their story special, heartbreaking and epic.

The first time I watched this scene, I was so shocked about it, and then I replayed it again and again. I didn’t believe of what I just saw and I think my heart skipped a beat. I just wanted to scream out of joy! I will smile like an idiot whenever I rewatch this scene.

“Rubik’s Cube” by Athlete always reminds me of this scene.
I'm like a kid who just won't let it go.
Twisting and turning the colours in rows,
I'm so intent to find out what it is.
This is my Rubik's cube;
I know I can figure it out
.
For me, Chuck was like a kid in that scene. He didn’t know what he was thinking; he didn’t understand the feelings he was having. He acted like he didn’t care and he wanted to deny all his feelings but deep down in his heart, he wanted to feel and be in love with Blair.

Of course, their clothes in that scene are matching, as always. Blair wore beautifully because it was her birthday party and Chuck wore a black jacket and a pinkish shirt, because after all, Chuck Bass in season one loves pink and purple.

Favorite parallel

This rooftop scene might be the lightest and sweetest of all CB rooftop scenes, while most of the others are all angsty and heartbreaking.

I love this cap because Chuck tried to act like he was ashamed and disgusted about his feelings but he was just trying to deny his feelings. He pretended he didn’t want to fall for her and she pretended she didn’t like it but in the end you just can’t help who you fall in love with.

• • • 1x08 necklace scene • • •
by Kathryn {dirtywhirl }

I’m not sure that I can really choose just one scene to call my favorite Chuck and Blair scene, because they have so many scenes that are amazing for very different reasons; this classic scene of theirs is one that I could possibly say is my all time favorite scene. “Something this beautiful deserves to be seen on someone worthy of it’s beauty. I really am sorry.” Aside from the “define like” and “butterflies” hint earlier in the episode, this is the first real romantic expression we see from Chuck. Sincerely calling a girl beautiful, spending god-knows how much money on a gift for her birthday, and Chuck saying the words “I’m sorry”, to me this was the first big step of him growing up. Actually seeing a different and new side to Chuck is what really made me fall in love with this scene, because before this he was just the playboy who never spent two nights with the same girl. I love that Blair was the one that changed that part of him.

I have watched this scene countless times, so I am not even going to try to think of a reasonable number... just know that it’s a whole lot. The first time I watched this scene was when it originally aired, so I don’t have the greatest memory of what my emotions were at the time. From re-watching it time and time again, I can tell you that, generally, I feel happy watching this scene (I mean, why wouldn’t I? It’s basically OTP fluff!). Obviously I feel bad for Blair because of everything going wrong on the day she needed to be perfect, but I get so happy and proud of my dear Chuck for going to her, somewhat telling her (or letting her on to) how he feels, and generally making her feel better – putting a good (even though it clearly wasn’t what she was planning for) ending to her ruined day.

There isn’t a background song in this scene, but there is the soft and light typical season 1 Gossip Girl music just to provide the sweet and romantic atmosphere for the scene. Personally, I like it better like this; I think having a lyrical song in the background during this moment would’ve taken away from the scene itself.

Firstly, I need to tell you that I am in no way a fashionista; I am very much a tomboy. Therefore, I really have no ground to critique their wardrobes, but I’ll just say I loved what both of them were wearing. I love Blair’s dress, and Chuck’s suit matched her perfectly (like any good Chuck and Blair scene). I obviously can’t not mention the necklace – the infamous Erickson Beamon necklace – it was the perfect gift, and it complemented Blair wonderfully.

Favorite parallel

My favorite parallel for this scene is S03E18, the scene when Chuck gives Blair the necklace and kisses her head in the mirror shot.

by Eli {eli_bear}

I love this scene because I was pleasantly surprised with C&B doing what teenagers do, kissing, fooling around, having a good time, smiling, being happy after the previous episode which was a Chuck-less episode and Blair relapsing and having a difficult day with Eleanor, so it really was a nice surprise seeing them on Blair's bed, making out, having fun, enjoying each other's company, feeling happy and especially Blair after watching her cry for several episodes because of Nate did/said/didn't want to do; and a big hello to Ed & Leighton's undeniable chemistry, they were setting my TV screen on fire, that scene was really really hot *fans self* and they were even fully clothed lol but god those hands were everywhere, the thigh grabbing, the hair pulling, her leg rubbing his butt I also love this scene because it felt to me that they were trying to see how the other feel about each other, at this point they both knew Chuck felt butterflies for her, but what was she feeling? They knew they had something going on but what was that? they weren't girlfriend-boyfriend but they weren't a one-night stand or a fling, it felt good what they were doing (all the sneaking around, make out sessions and the several times on a limo) but they knew it was wrong because of Nate, Blair's ex-boyfriend that happened to be Chuck's best friend which complicated things, C&B had been friends since they were little also they were scheming partners probably shopping buddies since they both care about fashion but this is probably just me caving into my desires but now what were they? Friends with benefits? so I think they were trying to figure that out, when Chuck says 'Pretty hot on Prince Theodore's arm today.' he was so jealous of even seeing Blair dancing with another guy but he wasn't going to say that out loud or with that words exactly, so he disguised his jealousy with a snarky line, and Blair answers was more direct 'Oh, is that what I am to you? Just an accessory?' maybe she was wondering if he still felt the butterflies she asked him to kill, is like she was trying to see what was she to Chuck, she knew about his reputation, the fck them and leave them, but he kept coming back for more, so was it possible for them to be something more than just a couple of friends enjoying each other’s company combined with the mind-blowing sex? Or were they just having fun until it wasn’t anymore?

I was SO happy the first time I watched that scene I think I did a little of squealing because they were together (well no together but you get the point, I hope, after Blair confessing to Serena she slept with Chuck like it had been the biggest mistake of her life). I think I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this scene so you can say I’ve seen it a lot like A LOT and every time I watch that scene it still puts a smile on my face.

‘You’re a wolf’ by Sea wolf was playing in the background of this scene, so naturally now every time I hear this song can’t help but remember of C&B hot make out session and have a big smile on my face, but other song or rather most of the lyric of ‘Crush’ by David Archuleta reminds me of them too:
Why do I keep running from the truth?
All I ever think about is you,
you got me hypnotized, so mesmerized
And I just got to know
Do you ever think when you’re all alone?
All that we can be, where this thing can go
Am I crazy? Or falling in love
Is it real or just another crush?

Do you catch a breath when I look at you?
Are you holding back? Like the way I do
Cuz I’m tryin’ tryin’ to walk away
But I know this crush ain't goin' away
Has it ever crossed your mind?
When were hangin', spending time girl
Are we just friends?
Is there more?

Is there more?
See it's a chance we've gotta take
Cause I believe that we can make this
Into something that will last, last forever

Forever

C&B love fashion so I loved Blair’s red tights and I found some color red meanings “Red is hot. It's a strong color that conjures up a range of seemingly conflicting emotions from passionate love to violence and warfare. Red is Cupid and the Devil. […] In some cultures, red denotes purity, joy, and celebration. Red is the color of happiness and prosperity in China and may be used to attract good luck.[…]” x They were wearing uniforms so I don’t know if that counts as matching but they both were wearing red (Chuck’s tie and his uniform shirt had red).

Favorite parallel

My favorite parallel of this scene is with the make out on Blair’s bed again in 4.09, and somehow I don’t think the situations were so different, (after they break up in 3.17 and everything that happened the first half of S4), they were again trying to found what were they? Enemies with benefits? Friends? Lovers? Each other’s love of their lives?

• • • 1x13 Courtyard scene • • •
by Beth {TheMusicLives}

As a Chuck fan, I always longed to know what Chuck was thinking in this scene when he walked around the corner to find Nate and Blair making out in the courtyard. Even though there wasn't a word exchanged between Chuck and Blair, the look of pain on his face was more than enough to convey the agony he felt and the slight glimpse of guilt that ghosted over Blair's face when their eyes met told me to hold out hope for them. She wasn't as indifferent as she was acting; she was conscious of the pain he was in and it did touch a part of her that wished she wasn't the cause of it.

Through the countless times I've watched this scene, it has always hit me hard. There was no doubt in my mind that he was absolutely in love with her. He was nursing his first broken heart because he'd fallen in love with his best friend's girlfriend and he couldn't try to win her back because he'd lose Nate. The depth of his pain always hit me most in this scene. In others prior and after this scene, he'd feigned indifferent. Especially before Nate and Blair reunited. It's only a couple of seconds long, but a scene that I will always find extremely beautiful: that one moment where the walls around Chuck Bass's heart, which was often thought to be unused, came crumbling down around him without a sound. This was one moment where he wasn't trying to hide that he could be hurt.

I'll give you portions of two songs I wore out in season one that always describe the place Chuck and Blair were in at this point in the season. They were both included on what I used to call my "Butterflies" playlist in iTunes.
Rascal Flats - What Hurts the Most
What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Damien Rice - Accidental Babies
Do you come
Together ever with him?
And is he dark enough?
Enough to see your light?
And do you brush your teeth before you kiss?
Do you miss my smell?
And is he bold enough to take you on?
Do you feel like you belong?
And does he drive you wild?
Or just mildly free?
What about me?

Well I know I make you cry
And I know sometimes you wanna die
But do you really feel alive without me?
If so, be free
If not, leave him for me
Before one of us has accidental babies
For we are in love

This girl is a sucker for Chuck Bass in plaid. And, for some unknown reason, the plaid beret matching his plaid vest just made him look incredibly forlorn. I thought his outfit was amazing for the scene. Blair with her bright red headband tells me she feels like she's back on her throne, where she thinks she belongs, and wants everyone to know that she's still the queen.

If Only - Chapter 35 by TheMusicLives
School passed in a blur of classes he didn't care about and people he'd push off the roof of The Palace if given the chance. There was no use flirting with every girl in sight to give Blair a taste of her own medicine because the few glimpses of her he'd caught apparently sent her running in the opposite direction.

It was almost like she couldn't take the look on his face, or to even think of him when she was busy rekindling her romance with Nate. The thought was delusional, but somehow it soothed his pain to imagine he was still under her skin that deep. Almost as if she actually cared that this was killing him.

And then he'd come around an innocent enough looking corner and walked right into his own personal level of hell. Seeing her there with Nate, looking so content and happy, signed his death certificate.

Her distressed gaze met his between sugary-sweet kisses and he hoped she saw the agony he was in. He wouldn't hide it because at that moment, no matter what he'd thought he'd wanted for her, he needed her to know the excruciating agony his life had become.

She needed to be with Nate to be happy, but he needed her away from Nate to get a moment of peace. He pushed her towards his best friend because he loved them both, but maybe he hadn't realized how much more he loved her. God, he loved her so much more than he'd ever thought himself capable of loving another person. This was a forever kind of love and there was nothing he could do to change that.

This was hell. Maybe he'd just change his address so that they'd know where to deliver the scotch.

by Kat {obsessed_aussie}

Why do I love this scene? Because it includes so many of the elements that make up Chuck and Blair. The scene begins with a close up of them sleeping, and for the first time we see these two scheming devils with their guards down. I love thinking about how they ended up in that position. How Chuck must have watched a sleeping Blair from his spot on the floor, and not been able to resist lying on the bed next to her. Did he wrap his arm around her before he went to sleep, or did they naturally gravitate this way? Blair senses him, before she wakes up, and for a moment a tiny smile appears on her face. This Blair, in a state of unconsious, is at complete peace, before she realises she is sleeping next to the wrong boy.

When Blair wakes up, we get one of our favourite aspects of CB... Chuck abuse! The good old bickering and banter begins as they both start hiding the fact that they were both exactly where they wanted to be. During this we find out that they did it once while Chuck kept his scarf on. Bonus points. Still waiting for the flashback.

This scene was first released as a sneak peek one week before the season final. I remember the excitement expressed by almost everyone, and believe I may have replayed the clip more than a few times. The Chuck/Blair story had been put on the sidelines for a lot of the second half of season one. But seeing this scene, I knew that CB were THE story they were telling.

Background Song: Beautiful World by Carolina Liar
Here it comes in the morning
I’m just trying to forget
Keep it real, keep it simple
And somehow just get out of bed
And this city is endless
I’m as cold as it’s stone
Yeah this city is endless
And I’m, I’m walking alone
Sunlight creeps in between the curtains
Lose the sheets there’s no time for sleep
I lie, I pretend ‘til I’m almost certain
It’s a beautiful world

In this scene, Chuck and Blair are wearing clothes from the night before, so really, what could be better? Everything about what they are wearing is flawless. Blair has lost her headband, Chuck has lost his jacket. And they are both sporting some serious bed hair.

Favorite parallel

There are two scenes in particular that can be paralled to this scene.

Chuck and Blair waking up in the limo in 2.22. Once again in their sleep they have gravitated towards each other. They have subconsciously grasped each others hands tightly. When they wake up- the walls are quickly put in place once again.

"They say if you love something you should set it free”. How far our Chuckles has come. In 4.22, Chuck learns that he must let Blair go for her own happiness. “I need to let you go.”

Credit

At the end of the 1.18 scene, Blair replies "If you hate something you should slam a door in its face." At the end of 4.22, she says "I will always love you."

And so their story continues.

• • • 1x18 Chuck's speech scene • • •
by Tweety {`toomuchpurple}

The first time I watched this scene I was “Go Chuck! Please Blair, fall in love with him, he likes you” no kidding. I was sad when in 1.08 he said he had something in his stomach, fluttering, and she just wanted him to kill those butterflies. In this scene he had the occasion to show her that his feelings hadn't changed. She wanted it or not, Chuck Bass had fallen in love with Blair Waldorf, and there wouldn't have been anything to change that, not even close to erase a feeling that had been growing in him since the first time she let him touch her deep down, literally. He looks so sincere when he talks, looking at Blair for the whole time and not being ashamed of that. She had to know. She had to know that he wasn't just a perv playboy who loved to scheme with her. He wasn't just the other half of the team, he was the only guy who really knew her. He wanted more of her, but she was too afraid to realize Chuck Bass really fell in love with her. And this is weird, since I truly believe that in that moment where she was losing herself a bit she needed to know someone truly loved her. Chuck of course didn't give up. Like he says in the speech, he learned the importance of perseverance from his Father. He kind of pursued her, hoping she would give herself to him again, but maybe it was too early there because Chuck had yet to realize that on the other hand, he just purely loved her without knowing it. He says that “In the face of true love you don't just give up, even if the object of your affection is begging you to”, meaning love as his Father's and Lily's love, but deep down, the love that was growing in his heart for Blair. The same Blair he had seen growing year by year and that he always respected because it was his best friend's girlfriend. She was something sacred, something he ordered himself not to touch for the good of his friendship with Nate, but eventually, they happened and there was no going back, that despite what they had already done to each other back then, Chuck says he has learned from Lily the importance of forgiveness, of second chances. He wished she could start talking again with him so he could have the chance to explore this new feeling and try to give it its name, a name he feared. Love. It's when you love that you are more afraid. In my heart Chuck knew Blair kind of felt love for him too, or so he hoped. He can see the change in her eyes when he starts being serious. She sees that probably Chuck is more than the person she believed he was. That Chuck can actually feel something in his stomach while looking at her, because he was feeling so lost and so in love that the words came out of his mouth just because she inspired him with her beautiful face.

We're not the same, dear
As we used to be
The seasons have changed
And so have we

They also match in this scene. She has on one of my favorite outfits, a nice pink silk dress with peonies on it because the dress is exactly called 'peony dress', with pink sandals, and a big pink flower headband. Peonies are known as the flower of riches and honor. With their lush, full, rounded bloom, peonies embody romance and prosperity and are regarded as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage. Chuck has a classic suit on, but his flowery bow-tie matches her.

I absolutely love everything about this scene. I just hope we won't be let down because you can clearly see the symbolism they use in everything, and that Chuck will be lucky enough to have Blair in his future to do the same things for him!

• • • 1x18 "Chuck Bass is a romantic. Who knew?" • • •
by Keri {Kayless}

While Chuck and Blair share plenty of meaningful moments and lovely dances, this particular one is my favorite. It was one of the first times that I could see that no matter what transpired between the two of them, they would still be drawn back to one another. After a long season of denying, hurting, and going back and forth, this finally felt like the first moment of truth between the two of them. This is the moment when Blair Waldorf finds out that Chuck Bass is not only a romantic, but a romantic for her. Chuck Bass was in love with her and wanted to be in love with her, something that he had never desired before. Even though, after all of this, everything did not go according to plan, it was still one of their biggest milestones. The first time I watched this, I remember beaming so much that my mouth felt funny by the end of the show. Watching Chuck kiss Blair so gently, before telling her they should take it slow was probably the most satisfying and giddy feeling in the world. Even now, after watching that scene so many times, it’s still hard not to grin over the two of them.

The music was admittedly more intended for a different pairing for this scene, but different parts of the song can be applied to the moment. The lyrics are about seasons and people changing and Chuck and Blair, in that moment, are changing. They’re being honest, forgiving the past and leaving it behind.

The outfits Chuck and Blair are sporting in this scene are, without a doubt, my absolute favorite of the entire series. Blair’s pink, spring dress is gorgeous, outshining even the bride’s maids’ dresses. I adore the way her curls are styled
and the pink flower is a cute touch. Chuck, even though he is wearing a simple black tux, is completely rocking that black tux, as always. His bowtie is the only dash of color, with pinks and whites that match Blair’s dress. It‘s not unusual for these two to look incredible together, but something about the clothes in this scene just make me melt.

It’s hard to explain exactly why I love this cap so much. Everything about it seems so perfect to me. I love the look on Chuck’s face and how their noses are just a bit short of touching. Most importantly, I love the background. Everything about this scene was romantic, but the candles and the soft pink, white, and red colors mixing make it just that much more enchanting.

• • • 2x01 The garden scene • • •
by Nat {ripe to fall}

The Garden 2x01 scene is my all time favorite CB scene and I’m so glad I got to do it for my presentation, but at the same time, I’m afraid I won’t make it justice. It’s just so short, yet has such a massive impact on me. The thing that draws me in the most is the emotion both Chuck and Blair hold during it. The fact that even Leighton said that that’s when Ed’s acting made her cry and that those were real tears from her in that scene speaks volumes: "I have this moment in the new season where we talk and it's just two or three lines between us – I wasn't expecting it but I just started crying. And it's so weird, because it's this "love that cannot be" and all this, but I think it's just that Ed's a really amazing actor and I was just very emotional in the scene because of him." It’s beyond incredible how Ed and Leighton can convey so much emotion in just sharing a few looks.
Earlier that day, they’re bickering about this “James” person Blair met during the summer and Chuck wants her to prove to him that “he’s the one” as she claims. Blair decides to take her heart pin from Nate which symbolized their love and stick it secretly on Marcus’ sleeve with the intention of Chuck seeing it during the dinner with CeCe. She knows Chuck so well and knew that would hurt him. Little did she know that she’d end up just as much hurt as him. The banter continues on the dinner, and I love how Chuck teases her that she loves the limo - one of the many callbacks of them being limo lovers that have happened throughout the entire show. I also love that he mentions her love for movies and names few of her favorite ones like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Roman Holiday and Charade, which proves how well she knows her too. And it happens. He sees the pin on Marcus’ sleeve and you gotta adore the transition of his cocky face to a totally heartbroken one. And feel for him as well, of course. It’s like his whole world has crushed so hard that he can’t even stay on the table, loses his appetite and leaves. Blair goes after him. Chuck knows what that pin meant to Blair and he just wants to reassure himself whether she really has the same feelings for Marcus as she did with Nate. Her “I do” (out of context wedding foreshadowing like yeah) crushes him even more. What I see in his eyes is fear that he started losing her, fear that her feelings might start fading, fear that she could be gone from his life for good. But only for a few seconds. He then says “See you at school,” which I interpret as: no matter how heartbroken he ended up being, he’ll fight for her in the end. That “see you” gave me a lot of hopeful vibes for the future. Vibes that say “it’s not over.” After Chuck leaves, Blair’s left crushed there exhaling a sigh of hurt and dropping a single tear. Just brilliant. How everything plays out and Ed and Leighton’s performance is flawless. I also think that this is the moment where both of them realize they’re in love with each other, and that scares them, which makes me love and cherish this scene even more.

I’ve re-watched this scene innumerable times, it’d be pointless to even count it. Only for the time I’m writing this presentation I watched it over 30 times maybe. And the emotions I feel during it are always the same. There’s no time when I haven’t torn up. Just as Leighton, Ed’s acting gets me too and I just can’t help it. Leighton’s, too. They’re both so amazing in it that your eyes cannot not become two little pools of tears. The first time I watched it, I was both stunned and feeling heartache. It’s a proof that such a tiny scene can be so huge and can have such a great hardly explicable influence on people.

The background song is a beautiful piano tune that completely fits the scene. It’s so soothing and flows perfectly with the raw emotions that are being portrayed then. Now, I’m not really good at coming up with songs, but let’s say that “Stay” by Hurts is kind of reminding me of it, especially these particular lyrics:
I feel so lost but what can I do?
‘Cause I know this love seems real

But I don’t know how to feel. (The first time they felt something so strong towards one another and started being scared of those strong feelings)
We say goodbye in the pouring rain (I know it’s not raining in that scene, but it could fit metaphorically)
And I break down as you walk away. (Blair silently breaking down the second Chuck leaves)
Stay, stay.
They match in every single way during this scene. They wear green outfits and their signature headband and bowtie, which our Tweety once pointed out in one of her amazing parallels that it means that they’re both weak and by wearing that, they want to show off a stronger side of them, a side of wealth and power. Green is the color of nature, fertility and life. This color symbolizes self-respect and wellbeing. It also means learning, growth and harmony. It translates very well into the context of the scene and what’s to come. The scenery is gorgeous and also matching. It literally couldn’t be any more perfect.

Favorite parallel

This scene parallels the Train Station scene as they’re both the most aesthetically gorgeous CB scenes for any viewer’s eyeballs. In the TS scene, Blair denies her love for Chuck and in the Garden, Blair admits something she doesn’t feel, something that she should actually be denying. She lies to Chuck in both – “I don’t love you anymore” vs. “I do” when asked whether she feels the same way with Marcus as she did with Nate. Chuck, in both scenes, accepts and respects her answer, even though deep inside him he knows she’s lying. They both end up being massively heartbroken at the end. EL’s acting in both scenes is a proof that perfection, in fact, does exist.

There are so many reasons as to why I love this scene (and by love, I mean love. I would marry it if I could). They might complain about their game playing all the time but without it these two wouldn’t be them. They’re ChuckandBlair, BlairandChuck for a reason – they’re absolutely meant for each other, and the games they define them, especially when the games become serious.
Of course they love each other, they both know it, they probably felt something very close to that whilst watching each other from Victoria’s stage and even though they’ve mentioned those kind of feelings for each other prior to that moment they both still know it.
Favorite Quote – “Three Words, Eight Letters, Say It, and I’m Yours.”
(it was definitely hard to pick 1 quote but I refrained from writing out the whole dialogue.)
Their chemistry is undeniable, and they make all the emotions they are going through together. It was classic Chuck and Blair this scene, and basically set up the whole of season’s 2 story line, before they came full arc, back to this moment and he was finally able to say those words.
The journey defines them, but this scene begins that.

Emotions I felt, well, step by step.
- He walks up behind her and she senses that he’s there-
The amount of times she’s done that (1x01, 1x02, 1x07 etc.) and it still makes me feel happy. They can feel the other’s presence, it’s just so… CB.
- The reason why he left her is himself-
Man that has (the real Chuck Bass) written all over it. Daddy issues yes, himself issues yes yes yes.
- He still feels it and doesn’t want her to leave with Marcus-
He looks so sad, didums. I love that he’s seriously begging her not to leave.
It made me feel sad, and also kinda happy – he still feels it. Whatever it is, he’s already admitted he wants her (crazy fan girl smile que.)
- She wants an ILY, he find it difficult, she leaves, they’re both upset-
Sad. Sad. Sad. Sad. And I also felt like I wanted more.
Is it just me or was this the first scene of CB that made me feel like they’d finally come into their own. That was them, knowing each other better than anything, playing games until it got serious, displaying clear as day emotions, and then running away. I miss that.

THEY MATCH PERFECTLY. Marcus was wearing white too and yet they didn’t look right… CB looked right.
Also. She’s wearing white. I don’t care if it was a white party, I hear wedding bells and want to shout foreshadowing loud and clear.
Blair Bass, alliteration at it’s absolute best.

Favorite parallel

I’ll be demanding and write three.
2x07, it’s Chuck’s turn.
I love how he always remembers their conversations spot on
(2x13 – 3x17 as well.) He obviously goes over them a lot.
2x13, she says it.
He runs of course, but he comes back (and always will)
2x25, FINALLY. Hallelujah!
He comes back again (seeee, I told you he always will)
And says those three little words. We always knew he would.

Please, they’ve always held hands. Whether 2x08 Chuck wants to admit it or not.
He’s so in lurve, there’s no reason for him to even have to say it. He has it written all over his face.
Also… remember what I said about them looking right.

Well, I mostly love this scene because it’s ridiculously sexy. But also, it was when I first started seriously “shipping” Chuck and Blair. I began watching the show at the beginning of S2, and I hadn’t seen S1 yet, so this was only two episodes in. At that point, I was pretty much just rooting for Dan and Serena- Chuck seemed kind of creepy to me, Blair sort of bitchy and social-climbing, and I obviously didn’t know much about their backstory. But after I saw this scene, I concluded that there was some serious hotness going on there, and I was totally into that. I watched the entirety of S1 the following weekend to catch up, and I’ve been a CBer ever since.

There’s so much I love about the scene- her rolling her eyes in annoyance when he first turns her around, him tracing across her collarbone with his fingers, the way she can’t help clenching his hand against her. My favorite part is when he whispers in her ear, such that we can’t even really hear what he’s saying (letting our imagination fill in the blanks) and the horny-as-hell look on her face in response. The best line, of course, is “Have sex with me… just once, it’s all I need.” But the “You… are disgusting. And I hate you.” is a close second.

The first time I saw part of the scene was actually in the preview for the episode, at the end of 2x02- it was just the clip where he says “have sex with me”. I think my reaction was something along the lines of “…. Damn.” Needless to say, I was really, really looking forward to the next episode. The first time I saw the full scene, I decided these two needed to sex each other up, stat, and I was pretty much hooked on the show from that point forward. As far as the emotions I felt, I would have to go with “kind of turned on”.

Having no other ideas of a song reminding of this scene, I’m going to go with some old-school Marvin Gaye. Because when Chuck’s got that feeling, he wants… sexual healing. *rimshot*

Blair’s wearing a gold one-shoulder Grecian-style dress by Phillip Lim and a beaded headwrap. It’s not my favorite color on her (let’s face it, gold is just a euphemism for mustard yellow), but the style is gorgeous, and it does leave an awful lot of neck available for Chuck. Her hair is really long at this point, but still curly and slightly sun-kissed. Overall, it’s a sophisticated but youthful look for her. And Chuck is wearing a striped shirt and gray vest, with a purple pocket square and ascot in contrasting patterns- this comes into play later when she unties it in a fit of passion . His hair is on the long side and somewhat disheveled, which is one of my favorite looks on him.

What they should have said? Well, I think the proper response to Chuck Bass whispering “have sex with me” into your ear is “yes, please.” Hell, I would’ve given it serious consideration, and I’m married.

"If you thought that was long, you have no idea what you're in for!"
This particular quote is very endearing to me for many reasons, the main one being that I have always been a CB fan but it was the encounter in this scene that hooked me and kept me coming back to watch Gossip Girl each week. I had always loved Chuck and Blair’s dynamic in season 1. But this episode, this scene in my opinion help make the season. The other reason I find this quote so endearing is how serious Chuck’s face is when he says it. It is a perverse statement said during a very serious moment. To this day every time I rewatch this episode I am taken back to the first time I watched it.

Background Song
‘Sea Out’ by Guillemots
When they go
sing out, sea out,
sea out, sing out,
sing out now.

There are many amazing songs that are in the background to CB scenes. However, I believe the lyrics of this song do not really fit the scene. This is a sexy flirty scene and this song is very sombre. I would prefer this scene to have a background song with a stronger base, so as to build up the scene, something like ‘Cosmic Love’ by Florence and the Machine.

What truly makes this scene is that Blair’s red lingerie matches chucks jacket. Only chuck and Blair would be able to pull that off, it’s just part of their charm. Their matching clothing in this scene to me symbolizes how alike they really are. They are the epitome of an old Hollywood couple- at any minute you expect Chuck to intimately embrace Blair in a kiss.

Favorite parallel

In 2x01 when Chuck asks Blair not to go with Marcus, she tells him to give a reason not to go- 3 words, 8 letters- but Chuck cannot say them. Then in 2x07 Chuck demands the same from Blair and the tables are turned because she cannot say them either. This is further evidence of just how much alike they both are.

This is my favorite cap because when you look at it you can clearly see the intensity of their feelings. Here they are just Chuck AND Blair. A representation of how simple their lives were at this time- before Bart’s death and before Blair didn’t get accepted into Yale.

I love this scene because you can see clearly how they loved eachother, but due to their past games and heartbreaks were afraid to see it. Also how vulnerable they were and hurt that either said the 3 words they wanted to hear so much.
Favorite quote :
Chuck: At the White Party? When you were on your way out with the count? Did you really think that I was going to say it then?
Blair: Yes, and when you didn’t, I wanted to die.

I guess I could say I felt angst when I 1st watched the scene, angry at Vanessa that she didn't tell Dan how C&B messed with her because she blackmailed Blair first. Then it was sad seeing how not hearing those words hurt both of them.

A song that reminds me of this scene is would be Paramore's 'Never Let This Go'. The lyrics really remind me of season 2 CB but specially the ''Because I'll never let this go,But I can't find the words to tell you'', always takes me back to this part.

Their outfits were great. Except for Chuck's hair...which was a big no-no.

When I watched this scene, the only word that could fit perfectly into description, is mesmerizing, absolutely mesmerizing. The ability that these two have, to capture the darkest scene, and make it into something so deliciously haunting, is amazing. The way everything was set up, with the way they dressed, with the setting, the dark lights, etc. Even the song, which several times says "hold on", to me that signified that Chuck & Blair were holding on for each other, especially when they held hands for a glimpse, signified that completely. They were holding on for what they were feeling, no matter how they acted on it, they didn't want to let it go, even if they were in denial. It was in a way that almost foreshadowed, a bittersweet ending. Bitter, because yet again they denied their feelings. Sweet, because it was undeniable that they loved each other. Dark, yet sweet. Sweet, yet dark. It goes both ways, and Chuck & Blair will always have that to them, no matter what.

The parallel, definitely goes with the "I will always love you" scene. Both of them denying what they have, but going through with it because they think it's best for each other, for them. To hide their feelings, to be in denial of them, in order to not yet again, face their fear of being hurt by the one they love

by Summer {Summer andrews}

The reason why i love this scene so much is because of the subtlety it shows. It's a sweet CB scene that starts by the moment we get to see Chuck playing the piano. Once Blair enters the room, we can pay attention to nothing but the way they keep staring at each other, like they really know what they mean and what they have. Chuck says: "Let me prove you that i know you better than anyone else". My favorite line because all the seasons prove him right.

When i first saw this scene i was amazed by it. It's easy for a couple to "show" some love with a kiss in a romantic scene. But when they're able to show it with only sweet gestures and deep glances, that's for sure true and undeniable love. I've seen the scene at least 30 times, no joke

A song that reminds me of this CB scene is "Angel in my eyes" from Montgomery John Michael.
But sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry,
sometimes we fight and we don't know why.
But no matter what, she believes in me,
she's the closest thing to heaven i'll ever see,
she'll always be an agel in my eyes.

CB are both wearing warm colors. Brown and red for Blair, brown and blue for Chuck. It's not exactly the same kind of colors but when you put it all together matchs perfectly right. It's interesting to see that she's wearing the darker colors and he's with the lighter. It shows the balance of both sides that no one else, but themselves, know they have.

• • • 2x12 "So shut up and dance with me." • • •
by Monica {Fall Out Girl <3}

I'll start by saying that I find this scene pretty underrated, and getting overlooked among all the other epic S2 scenes, so I'm always happy to see this scene appreciated for its amazingness. It's kind of a simple scene, but I love it for SO many reasons. The frustration on their faces while watching their knock-offs making out, simply having fun at a ball and 'figuring' it out without even trying, unlike them. You can see how much they wish they weren't so afraid to give their relationship a chance, and how much they want to just be together. But then Chuck is like 'Screw it, let's put our complicated relationship status on hold, and just act like normal teenagers for this night", with his little speech and his "So shut up and dance with me" line, which I just find SO them. Swoon-worthy, without really being cheesy or so.
It's almost like Chuck knew that night was really all they had before everything went to hell. It was their simple love~ moment, which aren't that frequent, but ultimately still make CB this complex couple, that can't just labeled as 'dark/twisted/etc', no matter how much the writers later on try.
Blair's face when he suggests that, so amused, even speechless. The way Chuck leads her to the dancefloor, like he's the luckiest man ever to be the one to do so, and Blair practically jumping down the stairs with joy. I don't think anyone can watch this scene and not see how much in love they are.

When I first watched this scene, I was already spoiled about what happens in the next episode, so I was kind of expecting the scene to go wrong any second, and Chuck to find out about his father. So I ended up being even more happy with it, as they at least allowed CB to have this last moment of calm before the storm. Which always makes me wonder what would have happened if the storm never came. If they would go back to their '4x09 - 4x12' kind of interaction after that night, or if they wouldn't be able to stay away anymore.

The song playing during their dance is "Hero" by The Asteroid Galaxy Tour, and while I don't dislike it, I can think of many more songs that reminds me of this scene.
e.g. "You & Me" by Lifehouse :
'Cause it's you and me and all of the people
with nothing to do, nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all other people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

"Last dance" by Camera Can't Lie :
If this was our last chance
I'd ask you to stay
For one last dance

and lastly, "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele, which happened to play during other CB dance scene. Mainly because I think in this scene, they really almost had it all.

Blair's dark blue-ish dress was gorgeous, even if it was a bit too long. She was of course wearing the Eric Beamon necklace she got from Chuck for her 17th birthday. I'm not sure what to say about Chuck's sparkly suit tbh. Maybe it helped Blair feel sparkly, like she wished again in S4? lol.
I can't say they were exactly matching, but the colours of their outfits definitely complemented each other.

• • • 2x13 "Because I love you." • • •
by Marina {<Marina>}

When I first started the presentation of this, which I considered to be pivotal, scene I didn’t know how I was going to go through with it, but if there is one thing I was sure of is that I would start it by describing how it made me feel when I first watched it. Like most fans I imagine, I knew this was a monumental moment for their relationship, so even if my heart was fluttering with excitement by seeing their relationship move forward at last, at the same time I was terribly saddened, because of the context of the episode in which it took place and because it ended, as I was unfortunately anticipating it would, with Chuck rejecting Blair and denying his feelings for her.
However, despite the heartbreaking ending, what I saw was a scene which would turn out to be very beneficial for our couple. As not only it marked the beginning of the end of Chuck and Blair’s power struggle to admitting their feelings, but it also answered a half of the significant question that surrounded their relationship from the beginning of the second season: Can Chuck and Blair say I love you to each other?
Blair could. Although a few episodes before we had seen her telling him that she would never utter those words to him, things were significantly different this time around. After seeing how much his father’s death had deeply affected Chuck, in Blair’s mind all bets were off, she realized that the time to play games had come to an end, and that it was time to finally give in. And she did, even when she was aware that saying it would cement their relationship, that it would finally make everything they had shared be real, she didn’t care. She followed her heart and didn’t mind in what a risky and vulnerable position admitting that she loved him would place her. Because in that moment there was nothing more important to Blair than showing Chuck that he didn't have to go through one of the most difficult moments of his life alone. That there was someone that loved him and wouldn’t abandon him. So we get to see her take his hands in hers to evoke through a physical connection their emotional one, while she admits for the first time that they’re Blair and Chuck, an undeniable unit, a team that sticks together during good times and bad times.
Regretfully, although Blair was capable of overcoming all those fears, Chuck wasn’t. Even when we could see for a split second how much Blair’s confession affected him, he wasn’t ready to admit then how much he needed her, or anyone for that matter, especially given the vulnerable state he was already in. In his eyes giving in would have made him weak and left him even more exposed and unprotected. So we witnessed as his defense mechanism kicked in and made him dismiss her confession, run and leave a heartbroken Blair behind.
When everything seemed hopeless to Blair, thankfully we members of the audience knew differently, he had already once admitted loving her and had proved it so through his actions towards her. It was only a matter of time before the Dark Prince came around and found the courage to voice those feelings to the right person.

I believe that every shipper will agree that another significant aspect to be considered about a couple’s scenes is the songs that are played in the background and the meaning behind the words in them. Since the piano song playing in this scene, while lovely, happens to be instrumental only, I started thinking which other song reminded me of the events that had taken place in it, when suddenly the lyrics from Adele’s One and Only came to my mind. It tells the story of a woman (as it’s autobiographical) who tries to resist being in love because she’s afraid she’ll end up being hurt. Until she realizes that the other person may return her feelings, so this makes her lose her own fear. She gives in to love and tries to convince her beloved to do the same. She tells him she’s aware it’s not easy giving up one’s heart but assures him that the love they share for each other will make it worthwhile. Sound familiar?
Adele, "One And Only"
You've been on my mind
I grow fonder every day,
lose myself in time just thinking of your face
God only knows why it's taking me so long
to let my doubts go
You're the only one that I want
I don't know why I'm scared, I've been here before
Every feeling, every word, I've imagined it all,
You never know if you never try to forget your past
And simply be mine
I dare you to let me be your, your one and only
Promise I'm worth it to hold in your arms
So come on and give me the chance
To prove that I'm the one who can
Walk that mile
Until the end starts
Have I been on your mind?
You hang on every word I say, lose yourself in time
At the mention of my name, will I ever know
How it feels to hold you close
And have you tell me which ever road I chose you'll go
(…)
I know it ain't easy
Giving up your heart
(Nobody's perfect, trust me I've earned it)
I know it ain't easy, giving up your heart

When I thought about other Chuck and Blair scenes that can be compared to the scene in question, there are three in particular that came to my thoughts and which are directly related to Blair’s first declaration of love. I personally chose this one because out of the three it’s the one in which our couple and their second season storyline come finally full circle.
That unforgettable moment in which Chuck first said I love you to Blair. The scene that represents every Chuck and Blair shipper’s dream and that would take them to that next step in their relationship. Blair had been the first one to be brave enough and Chuck was finally taking a leap of faith with her. It’s a contrast to the other instances in which Chuck had denied having any real feelings for Blair and comparable to Blair’s first I love you, because now Chuck was the one asking Blair to give them a chance. All the sorrow they had been experiencing in O Brother, Where Bart Thou was now gone, and we got to contemplate our couple at last in one of their happiest moments together.

by D {signaturescarf}

I Believe In Anything That Brings You Back Home To Me.

The song that began and echoed throughout the episode crescendoed in this moment. Blair walks into her bedroom, walls up, and demands, "What do you think you're doing here?" A destroyed Chuck simply looks up, then looks away and back down. Blair hugs him. He clutches onto her for dear life as she soothes him with caresses, and for the first time we see Chuck cry.

You know you have a golden couple—both characters and actors—on your hands when they can pull off a scene that requires no words to move you with their emotions. That's reason number one it's my favorite. Blair takes one look at Chuck's face and she understands that right here, there will be no games, no lies, no lashing out, no pushing each other away. Chuck may not have said "I love you" back but he let her in by going to her. It's the most intimate they've been since they agreed they couldn't be together until "the future" and it's my favorite type of interaction for them—the one behind closed doors, when it's just them and everything falls away and they become their truest selves, feel their deepest feelings in the presence of each other, and love each other the hardest.

While it's not a neat fit with CB's story, but more with Chuck and Bart's funeral, Signs became one of my favorite songs because of this scene (it's my ringtone), and it has to be one of the top musical moments on the show: I just love how the acoustic version blended into the recorded one as Blair moved from wedding sparkles and champagne to dark and silent bedroom, party of one. How the violins and percussion swelled during the scene. And how it all ended in the glockenspiel playing like a little music box left open while Chuck and Blair hold each other in the dark. Everything just felt broken in that moment, yet at the same time, she who wears a champagne-colored dress for the wedding, engulfs he who wears a disheveled black suit for the funeral, like a candle engulfs the darkness—in clarity and warmth. She may be small, but her light and embrace is strong.

Blair and Chuck—always with the walls and smokescreens, always acting like they're more adult than anyone else—turn into the sad, broken kids that they are, in need of a real family more than anything else. Chuck leaves the Van der Woodsen-Bass home to go to Blair. Blair leaves the Waldorf-Rose extended family downstairs to go to Chuck. They found their real family in each other. They've come home.

"I believe in anything that brings you back home to me." I'll always believe that Chuck and Blair will come back home to each other.

Favorite parallel

Writing this made me realize there's a parallel within the scene itself--Blair and Chuck leaving their families to see each other. But other than that there really isn't a parallel to this scene that jumps out at me. Things like 1.08 and 3.08 remind me of it—the tenderness and quiet speaking volumes, having each other because it's all they need. If I push it, I even see some similarities with 4.07 "Chuck, what are you still doing here. I kicked you out hours ago." Then there's a look, a pause, and they grab each other HARD.

by Aurora {love fades}

Oh, the 2x14 rooftop scene, how can you not love it? The vulnerability in the scene gets me all the time. You can just see how scared Blair is to lose him and how lost Chuck is. He doesn't want to be saved because he doesn't feel like it's worth it; he's not worth it, but then Blair says that he can't do this to her and he snaps out of it. As much as Chuck Bass loves to hurt himself, he doesn't want to hurt Blair. The scene is so powerful because you see just that. You see how he comes back to his reasons because he doesn't want to put Blair through all the pain and the hurt. He doesn't want to be saved but at the same time if hurting himself means hurting her, he will stop with the hurting. Chuck Bass is the source of his own destruction but he doesn't want to bring Blair into his mess.

My favorite line(s) are “I'm sorry” and “it's okay”. Those lines are just powerful and they get to me every time. The delivery of the lines and the emotional hug. He has his head buried in her neck and she just holds him. It's epic.

When watching the scene I can't help the shivers that I get. It really gets to me and I always tear up towards the ending (I totally bawl like a baby.) It's something about her tiny hand reaching out for his that makes me want to cry. And then he says 'I'm sorry' and I'm lost. The scene always makes me feel like this, though I remember crying like a baby when I first saw it.

I don't know why but every time I watch the scene I think of the song 'Save you' by Kelly Clarkson. Even though I love the simple instrumental piece that played during the scene I can't help but hearing the song in my head as the scene goes. This part of the lyrics is what I hear:
I Wish I Could Save You
I Wish I Could Say To You
I'm Not Going Nowhere
I Wish I Could Say To You
It's Gonna Be Alright
It's Gonna Be Alright

In all honesty I'm not a fan of what Blair was wearing but her outfit makes sense. To me it shows that Blair was the one who was collected and put together while Chuck was a mess. His outfit was a mess and so was his hair, and to me that shows how broken he was. Blair's outift represented that she was the mature one in this scenario while Chuck was like a little boy. He was the little boy and Blair was a woman. I think that their outfits were a callback to what roles they had in the relationship at the moment.

Favorite parallel

My favorite parallel is of course the Beauty and The Beast one. It's perfect. The way Belle's tiny hand reaches for the Beasts and we have Blair's tiny hand reaching for Chuck's. And the Beast says 'You came back” and we have Blair saying “Don't you understand? I'll always be here.” The Beauty and The Beast parallels can't be unseen. They are just there.

Favorite cap

I don't know how to describe this cap because it's just epic. The way she holds him and the way he just falls into her arms and stays there. It's so emotional and once again I have to mention the way he buries his head in her neck, and she holds on to him for dear life. I love it.

Leighton and Ed really managed to capture the energy of the moment. It was the moment where the stressful and panicking environment changed to something peaceful and soothing. When her hand reached out for his and he took it you could almost hear Blair take a deep breathe of relief. And when he fell into her arms and whispered 'I'm sorry' she said that 'it's okay' and she meant. He was okay, she was okay, and they were going to be okay. This scene has everything and more and that's why I love it so much.

by Gloria {kaleidoscope eyes}

What is CB without that heart-wrenching angst? To me that’s a huge part of what makes CB, CB! I love this scene, not only because it’s one of CB’s most emotional displays but also because of the acting. It truly showcases how talented Ed and Leighton are. They are remarkable actors and they work off each other so well. When they come together, it just clicks, it feels right. They make me feel and hurt for these characters in a way that very few other TV actors can. This scene specifically puts this talent and their amazing chemistry on display. What makes this scene so amazing to me is the acting, because their faces had to convey a mixture of feelings while their dialogue said something completely different. They did it perfectly; they conveyed love mixed with pain, hurt and sadness purely from their facial expressions and the way they looked at each other, ah those CB looks!! One part that gets me every time me every time starts off with Chuck’s “Acting like what?” that challenging question, mixed with sadness and love and Blair’s watery eyes full of emotion staring back at him… that is exactly the acting I’m talking about. They give it their all, they don’t hold back and that’s what makes EL so amazing together and what ultimately makes Chuck and Blair my all-time favorite couple.

What did I feel the first time I watched this scene? Well at that point in the season I knew where it was all heading in the finale but that didn’t change the fact that this scene left me completely heartbroken and aching for both Chuck and Blair. Although I do have to say that I did feel a bit frustrated with Chuck, right in the end when he tells Serena “I love her, but I can’t make her happy.” I wanted to just shake Chuck and make him realize that he CAN make Blair happy and he has the capacity to do so in ways no one else could ever compare, because ultimately he is the one she loves and the only one she wanted to be with. Back in S2, that’s what it boiled down to in my eyes. Chuck not having faith in himself and believing he could only bring misery to Blair when in reality all she needed was for him to love her. To say those “three words”, put everything behind them and to be with her. I truly believed that alone was enough to make Blair happy at this point in the season and the S2 finale proved it. And since that first time, I’ve watched this scene countless times, I never get tired of watching it. Basically anytime the show is getting me down or frustrating me (which happens very often)…. this is one of my go-to scenes to watch, it’s so well-acted and I do love this kind of angst. Everything felt much simpler back then and it made more sense… I miss that.

This scene didn’t have a song with lyrics, so a song that reminds of this scene is Hardest of Hearts by Florence in the Machine. Specially these lyrics…
There is love in your body but you can't get it out
It gets stuck in your head, won't come out of your mouth
Sticks to your tongue and shows on your face
That the sweetest of words have the bitterest taste.

I didn’t really find anything interesting about their clothes and they weren’t matching. Blair was wearing a black dress while Chuck was wearing a gray suit with a light purple tie. I’m not a big fan of the outfits in this scene, truthfully they were pretty depressing, I guess in that sense they kind of went with the scene…

• • • 2x25 "I love you, so much it consumes me." • • •
by Anne {AKdancer}

Where do I begin on why I love this epic Chuck and Blair scene? First and foremost, if you do not feel the chemistry between Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester in this scene, then you must be a robot. The acting and raw emotion displayed here is flawless; not to mention the dialogue. This is it. The season finale of the show’s second year run. The moment every CB fan is on the edge of their seats screaming at their TV’s, “Say it dammit! Say it Chuck!” Holding our breath, finally thinking we will get to hear those 3 little words that Chuck Bass has been feeling since Blair Waldorf gave him butterflies. The three little words that if said, there is no turning back. The three little words that Chuck Bass echoed earlier in the season, “won’t be the beginning of something, it will be the end.” Or so he thinks. Chuck just has to say them this time. Right?
While most people’s favorite line from this scene might be, “I love you so much it consumes me”, mine lies in Blair’s conclusion to her monologue. “Tell me you love me. That everything we’ve done, all the gossip, and the lies, and the hurt would have been for something. Tell me it was for something.” That one line right there holds so much power and emotion and nicely wraps up the journey Chuck and Blair have been on during the entire season. What Blair really means is if everything they had been through was for something, love, then it would be worth it because in the end, they’ll finally get what they’ve wanted for so long. Each other.

When I first saw this scene, I will never forget how I felt. I remember the exact time I started to hold my breath to when I finally let go. How can you breathe when your two favorite characters are about to let down every guard, insecurity, and wall they’ve placed around their hearts since they can remember? To take a risk on a love that as Blair says is “consuming”? But, the most prominent feeling I have when I watch this scene is that I can honestly say I truly feel for both Chuck and Blair equally. It’s like you know exactly where each character is coming from and why they feel the way they feel. Blair on the one hand, is willing to put herself out there, again, to show Chuck that no matter how much he tries to run away or finds excuses for them not to be together, they can do this. That regardless of whether he’s been told his entire life he’s an “irresponsible failure”, there is someone that loves him completely for who he is. It’s the way Blair cradles his face in her hands, stares straight in his eyes, and makes him stay put as she wills him to believe her. It’s why I believed her. Chuck on the other hand, is just not quite ready to take that final step. Why? It’s the way Chuck closes his eyes as Blair says, “would have been for something”. You know in that split second, all of his insecurities are flashing inside his mind: How will I be a good boyfriend? What’s a relationship? I’ll just end up hurting her like I did this past year. I can’t make her happy. She’s better off without me. I’ll let her go. It’s for her own good. And when he opens his eyes, his decision is made. He’ll take the easy way out and walk away from her again. Final touches? The instrumental playing in the background as Chuck slowly removes Blair’s hands from his face as Blair’s chin is quivering. The glint of hope in Blair’s eyes as Chuck says, “Maybe it was”. And, that one single tear that falls from Blair’s devastating face as Chuck walks away from her. Again. ALL of this is what makes this scene in one word, epic.

The first song that comes to my mind when I watch this scene is Trading Yesterday’s “Shattered.” The lyrics of the song reflect both Chuck and Blair’s point of view individually and together.
Blair’s POV:
And this day’s ending
Is the proof of time killing all the faith I know
Knowing that faith is all I hold
All is lost, hope remains, and this war’s not over

Chuck’s POV:
And I’ve lost who I am and I can’t understand
Why my heart is so broken
Rejecting your love

Blair and Chuck POV:
There’s a light, there’s the sun, taking all shattered ones
To the place we belong
And his love will conquer all

There are a few lyrics from two other songs that I also think of when I watch this scene. First, from Blair’s point of view, Hope’s “Who am I to say?” as Chuck walks away from Blair for the second time after telling him she loves him.
Color me blue I’m lost in you
Don’t know why I’m still waiting
Many moons have come and gone
Don’t why I’m still searching
Who am I to say you love me?
Who am I to say you need me?
I don’t know anything at all

Next, as Blair’s hands cradle Chuck’s face and they are both lost in each other’s eyes, I can’t help but think of Florence and the Machine’s “Cosmic Love”:
A falling star fell from your heart
And landed in my eyes

It’s funny how Chuck and Blair are both wearing black in this scene because that screams one word to me: Angst. And boy was this scene some of the best Chuck and Blair angst. We as CB fans should be immune to this. Like our ship, we’re brought just far enough to think we’re finally going get that happy ending but at the last second, it’s ripped away from us. Not just yet, you have to wait a little longer. We CB fans must be masochists because we just keep coming back for more, it’s never enough. But hey, only a masochist can love a narcissist, right?

Favorite parallel

My favorite parallel for this scene is from another Chuck and Blair scene in episode 4x20. In both scenes, Chuck and Blair are trying to convince the other of their love begging and pleading them to reveal their true feelings. What I love though is that the roles are reversed in each scene furthermore indicating that Chuck and Blair are equals. The art below titled, “Tell me” illustrates both of these scenes beautifully:

2.25: “Tell me you love me. That everything we’ve done, all the gossip, and the lies, and the hurt would have been for something. Tell me it was for something.”
4.20: “I’m not going anywhere without you. Tell the prince where your heart truly lies. You tell him. Tell me.”

Favorite cap

The reason I chose this cap is that as a huge Chuck Bass fan from the beginning of the series, this truly captures the vulnerable and broken boy behind the mask of the overconfident, carefree Chuck Bass. Also, it displays how truly scared he is now that he has found someone who could finally break down his walls and love him completely for who he is.

I mean, which Chair fan doesn't love this scene? This was a HUGE moment for Chair. It's one of those FINALLY scenes. Just a huge monumental moment for Chair. My favorite thing about this scene is Blair's expression on her face after Chuck says "I love you, too." Leighton does an amazing job with that. It's like she doesn't know whether to cry or smile. In her head she was probably thinking "Pinch me" because it was so overdue. She waited the entire season for him to say those three words. And I love Chuck in this scene. You definitely see a different side of him. My favorite line besides "I love you, too" is "Everywhere I went, you caught up with me."

It was everything. I didn't know what to expect. But when I heard him say "I love you, too" I was dancing. I was like finally! I mean when you watch a show you become so attached to the characters. You feel what they feel. And here, I was so happy.

The song is perfect for this scene. I love how right after Chuck says "I love you, too" the song plays the part "Love love love...." It's perfect. The Season Of Love. Epic. Everytime I hear this song I think of this scene. It's simple but it fits so well.

I'm not a huge fashion fan but I love Blair's coat in this! I want it. And love how her shoes match her dress. And of course, I love her headband. And Chuck is looking handsome in his suit.

Favorite parallel

Such a hard decision. My favorite thing about CB is the parallels they have. I love these two lines between them. It really shows how they are honestly inevitable and how they belong with each other. There can't be anyone else because it's always going to come back to them.

I love this scene because of the feeling I had when the first filming pictures came out. This was the first scene I saw Chuck and Blair filming pics for in season 3. After the season 2 finale and Chuck finally saying "I love you too" I really wanted to see them be a couple and be happy. Whenever I see this scene it reminds me of how excited I was for gossip girl. There was so much hope and promise for Chuck and Blair in that moment. When the scene actually aired and Chuck said "I want you to be happy however that is achieved" and the way he looks at her with such devotion and love and truly melted. This is the in love, caring Chuck Bass that I love so much. Sometimes when I find myself annoyed at the show or at the fandom I will rewatch this scene because it reminds me a moment when I was truly happy with Gossip Girl.

"Shes wearing a brooch and hes wearing a brooch. Its insane!" Whenever I see this scene I think of Eric Damon and his crazy brooch excitement. For anyone who has not seen the interview where he discusses the outfits for this scene it is located here. I have to admit "My ship loves brooches" is probably something only a Chuck and Blair fan could say.

Favorite parallel

This scene and the idea that Chuck only wants to make Blair happy reappeared in the season 4 finale as well as numerous times at the end of season 2. One of my favourite parallels is Chuck giving Blair her dream prom with Nate in season two and giving her back her fairytale with the Prince in the season 4 finale. He has stayed true to this idea. Even if it isn't with him he does want Blair to be happy.

• • • 3x02 "Are you okay? I am now." • • •
by Heather {blondephoenixrising}

Dialogue:

BLAIR: You were right about the dorms. The lighting is awful. ... You okay?
CHUCK: I am now.

Background song is "Embers" by Just Jack.

One phrase in the lyrics is: "Through all of the devilish things we do, I can't help my stupid hopes."

I think this phrase is really very indicative of Chuck & Blair as they are in this scene, as they have been before, and as it pertains to their future. No matter how many awful things they do -- to others, or each other -- they still hold on tightly to the hope and idea that they will eventually be together. Through all the awful things in their lives, whether they are self-inflicted or not, they can depend upon each other. To each the other is their bright spot in a lot of darkness. And here, in this moment, when Chuck has just suffered defeat in regards to his speakeasy club and is feeling frustrated, when Blair is feeling hopeless about each other, they can be each other's safe place to hide, and by being with each other, suddenly everything okay. That's true love.

The first time I saw this scene ...
I thought to myself how perfect they were together. It was also kind of inspiring, you know? I hope that some day, I'll be in a relationship where I can depend on someone like that. And that is the truth of Chuck and Blair -- no matter what, they can depend on the fact that the other one will come through for them, no matter what has transpired before them. I also thought it was really touching and sweet to see the two of them being so tender with each other. I enjoy how lethal they can be on the outside with everyone else, but how soft and gentle they can be with each other on the inside. I think it was the first time I really started to see personal growth in both of them.

Something I really love between all of these arts is the parallel between the moment in 3x02 and 3x08 -- these moments are both really sweet and illustrate the fact that Chuck and Blair are able to be a very balanced couple and have a relationship of give and take, where they can each be there for the other in their times of need. This isn't something that is easy to come by -- and it's certainly not something that should be cast aside.

• • • 3x06 "Love me? Always." • • •
by isa {issa}

I think this scene is underrated, but it has always had a precious place in my CB heart. IMO, this scene was the beginning of the end -for now- and a promise of forever. Love me? Always! And he says it so casually, like it's the easiest thing in the world. After all they went through before he got to say those 3 WORDS, 8 LETTERS, he was not scared of his love for her, because he waited to be ready and 100% sure because he knew that the moment he said them, it would be Chuck and Blair, Blair and Chuck, ALWAYS. While working on this I realized that this short scene foreshadowed the events of 3.17 and 3.22.
And Indecent Proposal, heartbreak and dissapointment. Not getting there in time "You were late", says Chuck, "I got caught in a text flurry with Dorota. I'm sorry.", answers Blair. And it reminds me of Blair not being there in time at the Empire State Building because Dorota went into labour.
So, basically, I love this scenene bacause it's apparently meaningless, but when you really pay attention to it, you realize that this was a breaking point in the Chuck and Blair relationship.

Watching it for the first time . . .
My heart melted! I even forgot I was a tiny bit mad at Blair for playing him.
Are you upset because you kissed a guy? "I'm upset because I kissed someone who wasn't you"
I'm sure Blair's heart melted as well.
And it gave us Chuck's sexiest facial expression and Blair's most adorable.

The music . . .
Unfinished Business by White Lies
The song is playing in the background, barely audible.
You've got blood on your hands
And I know it's mine
I just need more time
So get off your low and let's dance like we used to
But there's a light in the distance
Waiting for me, I will wait for you
So get off your low, and let's kiss like we used to
I'm not very good at this whole lyrics and meaning begind it stuff, So I'll leave it there for you... is it about betrayal? Forgiveness? Overcoming obstacles? That we will see the light at the end of the tunnel?

The Fashion
This scene to me was meant to be passed as an ordinary scene, I don't think they tried really hard on this one. they're in the middle of a bar, throwing "I love you forever's" so casually in front of a lot of strangers. Chuck's wearing his favorite color and a new haircut he'd just gotten at Trumper's. Blair's long curls and full lips. Simple, yet beautiful.
It was all in his eyes and her melting at his words.

Favorite parallel

Indecent Proposal!
Diana asks, "Have I ever told you I love you?"
David answers, "No"
"I do.", "Still?", "Always"
This is the last scene of the movie. They had been happy, a couple very much in love
living in a world of their own. Then there comes the problems, and a man
offers, hipotherically, David and Diana a Million Dollars for a night with her.

John: Suppose... I were to offer you one million dollars for one night with your wife.
David: I'd assume you're kidding.
John: Let's pretend I'm not. What would you say?
Diana: He'd tell you to go to hell.
John: I didn't hear him.
David: I'd tell you to go to hell.

And then it all goes to hell and I can't help but think in 3.17 and how this short scene was
just a teaser of what was to come. Our hearts broke, CB's hearts broke and nothing has been
right in the "world" since then.
But in 4.22 we got this: Blair says "I will always love you", which
is followed by Chuck's "I will always love you"

And I'll leave you with this quote from the movie:
"I thought we were invincible. But now I know that the things that people in love do to each other,
they remember. And if they stay together, it's not because they forget. It's because they forgive."

This scene shows a remarkable moment within the history of Chuck and Blair. First, we are shown Chuck's unfaltering support towards Blair through his willingness and desire to provide immediate consolement for Blair due to her friendship woes. Second, we are shown Blair's ability to find cotentment, despite the possible loss of her best friend, since Chuck is able to ignite enough joy within herself on his own. Even if Blair is dealing with a tumultuous period within her life, she can still find solace and happiness from the knowledge that no matter how unstable things may transpire, she still has chuck to smooth out the stubborn srinkles that plague her life from time to time. This moment between them contains few words, but due to their kinship and knowledge of one another, few words are necessary. Chuck is able to read the inner workings of Blair with effortless ease and he knows exactly which emotions are flitting across her mind. He can sense that the medicine her emotions are yearning for, is simply his soft caress and Bass-like aroma encircling her body and calming her morose filled thoughts.

What causes this particular scene to occupy a spot on my list of favorite Chair scenes is its tone and simplicity. The tone is sweet, intimate, and awe inducing. Something to reminisce over when in need of remembering the blissuful period Chuck and Blair once occupied. Its simplistic value is another endearing factor for me. Although I do adore Chuck and Blair's more passionate and angst filled scenes, its nice to know that their substance is not fully made up of schemes and sex. Their relationship is encompassed of several shades including one that portrays vulnerable and touching moments. They are able to simply feel satisfaction through basking in the soft glow of each other's presence. Also, they have the capability to lend each other a source of stability when life is no longer sturdy and balanced. This system of back and forth giving and receiving proves that Chuck and Blair do hold the ability to accomplish a successeful relationship.

Song, I See You by Mika
"Truth be told my problems solved, you mean the world to me."
This line relates to Chuck and Blair because simply having Chuck by her side erases Blair's problems due to the joy he brings into her world.

Favorite parallel

First, these scenes parallel each other due to their physical characteristics. In 3x08 we have Chuck's arm wrapped around Blair and his head resting upon her shoulder. In 3x03 the positions are reversed and Blair is the one to embrace Chuck. To me this signifies the equality within their relationship. Blair and Chuck consider each other as equals, on par with the other's power and strength, and this is manifested through both of them taking lead and holding the other within their arms.

These two scenes are also paralleled due to the emotions encompassed within these moments. In 3x02 Blair is upset over her failure to reign at NYU, and in 3x08 Blair is hurt over the possible loss of her best friend. During both of these vulnerable instances Blair reaches out to Chuck for comfort and peace. She views him as someone who can help brighten her out of a slump. He acts as a tranquilizer, calming the raging tide of her stormy mood.

How can I not love this scene? Blair’s unfailing belief in Chuck helps him to come to terms with the growth he’s been struggling against ever since the moment he felt something fluttering in his stomach in season 1. He is finally able to be open and honest with her without any burlesque or pretense, and she accepts all of him without question. There has never been another moment in the entire series that has captured pure and simple love so perfectly.

I don’t even know how many times I’ve watched this scene, but I know I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count. Rewatching it again after nearly a year has brought all those first memories rushing back, though. I can feel the same anguish Blair does at seeing Chuck in so much pain, but there’s also the relief at knowing that Blair is there – not necessarily to cure or fix him, but to love and support him.

M83’s “Too Late” has very few lyrics, but the combination of those three sentences with the music itself is haunting indeed.
And if you are a ghost
I’ll call your name
You, always

Even the song itself works this scene from two angles. First, the sad-but-true mantra of Chuck’s life is that he can never escape his father’s ghost. There’s always something or someone to remind him of his father’s disappointment and his previous failures in Bart’s eyes. And Chuck’s tragedy is that he always lets that ghost rule his life at the expense of the people who are still alive and loving him. On the other hand, Blair never gives up on Chuck for good. She knows there’s still a way to call him back, and she’ll always go out of her way to bring him back if he runs, no matter what their relationship is at the moment.

Chuck and Blair are kind of matching, with their dark and dreary colors that so befit a hospital. Chuck’s black is easily explained because he is mourning his father’s death on the anniversary, but it’s Blair’s pajamas that provide a more interesting contrast from her usual attire. This may be Chuck at one of his darkest hours, but it’s also Blair at one of her most vulnerable. They are both able to see one another without all those layers of makeup and artifice that they use to keep others at bay.

Favorite parallel

From the first time I watched this scene, it reminded me of Chuck giving Blair her birthday gift in 1.08. Chuck was able to be there for her and comfort her when she was at her lowest, when she wouldn’t let anyone else see her, and now Blair is returning the favor. 2.13 is also a parallel to this, of course, and all three are a reminder of how beautiful Chuck and Blair can be even in their ugly moments. And here is a perfect art from Michela that shows CB giving each other comfort, as well as their moments of parent-related vulnerability.

• • • 3x13 "I will always be your family." • • •
by Mel {all this time}

Why do I love this scene? For one, I think that I love this scene just for its simplicity and beautifulness. But beyond that, I think that this scene really reflects the best of Blair and Chuck's relationship in Season 3. It is such a tender and sweet moment. We get to see Blair opening her heart unconditionally to Chuck and Chuck finally letting her in and being there for him. Letting down his guard is not something that comes easily to Chuck, but here we see how comfortable with each other they are and how in love they are. I love the cheek kiss, nuzzle, and Blair gently placing her hand on Chuck's face. You can see in his eyes the way he is comforted by her presence.

This scene also shows the growth in Blair and Chuck's relationship from 2x13 "I don't have a family" to 3x13 "I'll always be your family." Family is something so important for both of them. Both have had their fair share of issues concerning their parents. This scene shows that despite what they've gone through in the past with Bart and Eleanor, they are capable of moving past that. The scene represents that what is important is for them to learn how to grow together so that they can be their own family and one day raise their children in the
way they wish they had grown up.

The Music
And my soul is a dark place
But I know your love
I know your love
My soul is a dark place
And my soul is a lonely one
And I'm not alone
I'm not alone

-Wild Wolves by Athlete

I thought that "Wild Wolves" was the perfect background song for this scene. The words really reflect the emotions of this scene. Despite the dark place Chuck may be in, he knows that Blair loves him and he doesn't have to go through things alone anymore. The song really highlights the differences between 2x13 and 3x13. In both episodes, Chuck was in a dark place and Blair tried to comfort Chuck by expressing her love for him. While Chuck was unable to fully accept Blair's love in 2x13, by 3x13 we see the comfort Chuck takes in knowing that Blair loves him and is there for him. And it is this love which will allow them to learn to grow and get through life together.

The Fashion

credit

In this scene Blair is wearing a Victoria Beckham dress and House of Lavende earrings with black tulle pleated Christian Louboutin peep-toes.
In this scene Blair and Chuck are wearing matching outfits,
Blair in this gorgeous black dress and Chuck in his black
tuxedo. I also love the way Blair's hair is pulled back in this
scene. I think it helps highlight the one shoulder dress and
lets you see the earrings which are beautiful.

by Sandra {sandraisabel}

Let me start by saying that I have a weak spot for angsty romantic scenes, and from all the possibilities I picked the most tragic one in my opinion. I literarly held my breath during 3.17 “All I ever did was love you”. It is the scene that made want to analyze every little bit of Chuck and Blair, and discuss all facets of them with other fans. Before that I had never posted on any Gossip Girl forum.

That scene is terribly tragic, and I feel deeply moved every time I watch it. Blair making a sacrifice in hope of protecting Chuck’s feelings, only to find out that she had been manipulated. Chuck falling deeper into darkness and destroying something he cherished so much, yet naively hoping that everything will be all right and nothing can break them apart. Blair’s maternal and protective side being shown in it’s most saddest form; Chuck’s narcisism being shown in it’s ugliest form.

• • • 4x02 Train Station Scene • • •
by Neera {FumblingTowardsEcstasy}

Why I love this scene? Well, to put it concisely this scene is what made me ship CB. Previously I had been a casual viewer of Gossip Girl, having only seen a few episodes here and there. Then one insignificant Monday I turned on the TV and was flipping through the stations when I saw that GG was on. I paused to see if it would interest me and, lo and behold, Chuck and Blair (individually) grabbed my attention. I had virtually no knowledge about their history and they made me want to know more about their story. However, it wasn’t really until the train station scene played that I became and fan of Chuck and Blair and was rooting for them to get together and stay together. This is one of the most beautiful scenes I’ve seen in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
The moment when Chuck looks up and sees Blair standing there, it’s as if he was drowning and came up for fresh air. Or like she’s a mirage and he can’t believe she’s real and standing there about to stop him from making a huge mistake. The way he looks at her in the scene, if that isn’t the look of a man still hopelessly and desperately in love then stick a fork in me; I’m done. It’s a scene of forgiveness. Even though Blair said to him “I don’t love you anymore”, I could tell she was lying. If she didn’t love him, I don’t think she would have given him back the ring. To me, that moment symbolizes that…it’s not over. It’s never over for them. It’s just over for now. And Chuck’s face when she says that, it’s as if you can see all his hopes of having a happy and contented future disappearing before his eyes, and you can pinpoint the very second that his heart breaks into a million little pieces. For someone who really loves angst ridden scenes, this is pure gold which is another reason why I love it so much. I’ve probably watched it at least a dozen times and each time I get teary eyed and emotional, especially when Blair says to Chuck that she doesn’t love him anymore and Chuck tears up, it’s like he expected it all along. After all who could love such a beast, right?
Even though there is a lot of hurt and pain in this scene, it’s so obvious they still love each other and will always be pulled toward one another, Blair even said so when she told him “It wouldn’t be my world without you in it”, which happens to be one of my favorite lines in the scene. Everything about this scene is perfection; the music, the setting, the dialogue.

The song in the background speaks volumes about the entire theme, but there are other songs I think of when I think about the train station scene. Fallen Embers by Enya REALLY fits this scene, as does “Wait it Out” by Imogen Heap, “Gone Away from Me” by Ray LaMontagne, “The Scientist” by Coldplay “Listen to your heart” by Roxette, I could go on and on with the amount of songs that reminds me of this scene but I’ll stop there.

I’m not the best person to critique clothes but I’ll try my best. CB’s clothes in this scene were very “princess and pauper-ish”. Blair is wearing a gorgeous gown from Oscar de la Renta and Chuck is wearing a simple button down shirt and jeans. I love Blair gown, Chuck’s was ok (I guess the only reason why I’m not too crazy about it is that he’s not matching Blair which is just unacceptable) . But their expressions and body language mirrors each other. Their sad smiles, tears in their eyes; it’s so poetic and beautiful.

Basically I loved this scene because I thought Blair's facial expression said a lot when they shook hands. In the second episode of season four, Blair told Chuck that she didn't love him any more which obviously wasn't true. So when their hands met in this scene, it looked like all the feelings she had for him came rushing back.

I kinda felt hope when I first watched it. Mainly because there was the whole Chuck vs. Blair thing going before this scene. The scenes that mean the most to me are those that express their emotions without actually having to say them. It's a compliment to Ed and Leighton too because their portrayal are part of the reason I am so drawn to them.

A song that reminded me of this scene was 'Skinny Love' by Bon Iver and it's why I used it in my graphic. The lyrics 'come on skinny love, what happened here?' just make sense in my mind in terms of their relationship and everything that has happened.

I can't say I know much about fashion tbh but they both look amazing, as usual.

by Danae {crazy-shipper}

Every Chuck and Blair scene has a special place in my heart, but this scene is one of my all-time favorite scene of those two! There are just so many reasons as to why i love this scene so much,it is so hard trying to express them all!
First of all, this scene begins with a very interesting conversation between Chuck and Blair which i enjoy immensely and also happen to find very enlightening.I really enjoy their interactions before they start tearing each other's clothes off almost as much as the piano-sex itself!
I mean we start off with them realizing they're not friends and that they could never be.And they're right, people like Chuck and Blair don't like or dislike, they love or hate, always passionately and always with their whole being! Then they continue by saying how they hate each other...Not trying to be cliche but as they say the line between hate and love is very thin and both of them know this well! So just replace hate with love and their interactions is practically is a love confession,a twisted one sure, but this is the way Chuck and Blair like it!And then, they just talk about how this hate 'electrifies' or 'burns' inside of them...they couldn't be more clear if they outright said they are attracted so strongly to each other!
Another reason why i love this scene it's because of what follows after...Chuck and Blair have been at odds up until this episode where they attempted to be friends and only that..but by the end of the episode it turns out they can't!Chuck and Blair are not meant to be friends, there is too many emotions, too much passion and attraction between them for them to go back to being friends, especially after everything that has happened! So this scene,it's this explosion of their feelings, this attraction they couldn't ignore and they couldn't fight it,so they give into it and the result is mind-blowing!
Finally ,it's Chuck and Blair sex scene...this just immediately transports the scene to EPIC territory! Chuck and Blair are known for their off-the-charts chemistry and this scene just proves it even more! The frantic can't-get-enough-of-you kissing, the moaning, the undressing, the grabbing and removing of Blair's garter,Chuck lifting her on the piano...it's just too much too handle! It's passionate and wild, much like Chuck and Blair themselves!I could go on forever, but bottom line is: there is nothing better than CB smut! And that's a fact!

To top this marvelous scene,we have Robyn's song "Dancing on my own"..in fact Robyn's song has been played again for a Chuck and Blair sex scene,so do i sense a little parallel there? Regardless..the song is amazing and the lyrics always reminded me a bit of Blair's point of you about Henry and Eva.(I say Henry, because that wasn't Chuck.Chuck Bass isn't Chuck Bass without Blair Waldorf!)."I'm in the corner watching you kiss her,I'm givin' it my all, but I'm not the girl you're takin' home" I think this really fits Blair's feelings, especially since some episodes ago we saw her watching Chuck Henry kissing Eva...I will close this off saying how glad i am that unlike what the lyrics suggest,Blair didn't say goodbye and Chuck did see her and they ended up the night together!(But you don't see me, standing here,I just came to say goodbye)

As anybody can imagine, this scene cause so many emotions to me while i watched it! To be perfectly honest, the first 20 times i watched the scene,i couldn't make a coherent thought besides "CHUCK.BLAIR.SEX.WOW.OH MY GOD".My mind was just blown by the chemistry and the hotness of the scene! After some more time, and more watching of the scene,i could appreciate the finer details..like how they grab each other as if their life depends on it...how frantic and passionate they are...the dialogue before that. This scene never failed to give me chills and make me fangirl like a crazy person, even after 50 times of watching it.(the first day..i have lost count on how many times i have watched it since!)

Another reason as to why this scene is a Chuck and Blair classic,is that it has both Chuck and Blair wearing matching black and red outfits! Those two wearing matching clothes has been a theme since early in season 1 and it is used to display how in sync Chuck and Blair are.Chuck and Blair,Blair and Chuck..so different and yet so so similar. They are two sides of the same coin and their clothing choice has been used to show this. They're both people who mind their appearance and express themselves through their fashion choices,Chuck goes against the flow by wearing unusual colors for boys such us purple and pink and bow-ties while Blair plays the role of the perfect girl with her tights and preppy clothes and wears headbands akin to crowns to show she's the Queen B! So for people whose choice of clothing can tell you so much about who they are,the fact they usually match is no coincidence.Chuck and Blair are two parts of one whole and even something as simple as clothing can show you that!

It's also no coincidence this epic scene was during the 7th episode since this episode is always Chuck and Blair centric.Specifically i want to stay on the parallel between the 7th episode of season 1 and season 4.
In the 7th episode of season one,we got one of the best Chuck and Blair scenes ever, the limo-sex,a scene that rocked their worlds and ours! That scene signals they beginning of their epic journey and the moment a lot of us fell in love with this couple and decided to follow them on their journey, always faithful through thick or thin, for better or for worse.
And in this 7th episode...we see Chuck and Blair displaying similar passion and attraction for each other as they did all this time ago. After everything that has happened between them, good or bad, they continue to want each other as desperately as they did in the beginning!

• • • 4x08 "Goodnight, Waldorf. Same to you, Bass" • • •
by Chris {ChrisM}

This has got to be one of the sweetest and most tender scenes that Chuck and Blair have ever had. Even though I adore their fun, fast, and exciting love scenes and scenes in general, I also love this reminder of romance and deep connection. There is passion in this scene and just absolute love. After an episode of "hate sex" we see this surrender of love. And that is a huge reason why it is one of my favorite scenes, because its Chuck and Blair giving into each other and just being in that moment, accepting that there is more to them still than "hate sex," they don't name it yet but they both feel it.

It begins with them reveling in their victories with the romantic setting of them sitting in front of a fire. Once again pointing out that when they act together no one stands a chance. And they declare their friendship [maybe that's because that's what we are...friends"] which has always been the root and core of their beautiful relationship. But their eyes reveal that there is more to them than this friendship they speak of. There is always more. They say goodnight, using their last names, in the playful way that CB use, showing that lighter, friendship respect and connection ["Goodnight Waldorf." "Same to you Bass."]. And then they embrace, their faces lean into each other's shoulders and its as if they are inhaling each other as the enjoy the warm of each other's arms. Then they look at each other with love and lean in for a kiss, it's timid at first, so different than what we normally encounter with Chuck and Blair, it's as if they are seeking permission and both eagerly grant it. But then the kiss blazes passionately just like the fire in the foreground. He carries her bridal style, as if he's a hero from a romance novel and goes up the stairs as they both smile to each other, knowing that this is what they desire more than anything.

I seriously lost count of how many times I have seen this scene because it was my go-to scene to make myself feel better about the season. It would reinforce my belief in Chuck and Blair because of its perfection and tenderness. The writers didn't want us to think they were just sex with this scene and that meant the world to me. It outlined so much more in them. Friendship, love, passion, salvation, light, happiness. So many elements to them, not to mention a princess bride carry that just makes you believe that everything is leading toward matrimony for this power couple. The scene is uplifting and causes so much hope. It's beautiful and makes me cry, not because of the bittersweet angst that CB is mostly known for, but because of the sheer beauty and optimism of it. I was so happy when I first saw it, it pulled at the heart strings and the song made me smile. It still has the same effect.

The song playing is very simple, it is called "Blue Moon" by Kendal Johansson. The short song has lyrics that speak so much to who CB are and who they are meant to be, especially when following the entire season.
"Let me be your one light
And if you'd like a true heart
Take the time to show you're mine
And I'll be a blue moon in the dark.
"
It just worked out perfectly to talk about the "one" considering Chuck's line in the finally about being "the one" for Blair. It speaks of that possessive word "mine" which I maintain isn't a negative once they reach the point of belonging with and to each other in the healthiest of ways. The song is about a "true heart" which is perfectly Chair. They have never been torn once they accepted their love. They are each other's number one. Sometimes they feel like they are not an option for each other, but when they are, there is no one they want more, it's not even a question, there's is a true love.

And also, most importantly, our reoccurring theme of "light" they are the light for each other. That is no accident that this song speaks of being a beacon of light for each other. I also find it interesting that its about a "blue moon" not about sunlight. It's important to remember that CB are still dark creatures and they can't belong entirely to that bright and shiny sun, but they still have their light. Out of all the songs they could have chosen, in the episode/scene that shows that Chuck and Blair still love each other, in a most tender, equal and ardent love, we hear a song about them being each other's light and protectors. I love the line in it that says "If demons come while you're under, I'll be a blue moon in the sky", it definitely shows how Chair, on top of being victorious schemers, are reaching toward the point where they love each other so much that they do bring out each other's light and protect each other above everything else.

The fashion in this scene isn't very loud and it doesn't stand out in terms of matching but it is very symbolic. They complement each other in formal attire that fits seamlessly together. Chuck is in a very smart tux, it isn't flashy like his normal clothing but it is unique with the design and cut and with the black collar of his white shirt. So instead of something overly flashy, his wardrobe choice is very traditional, almost like a wedding tux...
Blair, in turn is in a blue, floor length floral gown. What stands out is the use of blue in her dress and in the song. Blue, especially that light blue color, can mean serenity, peace, life, security and happiness. I think the security and peace aspects are very important, because as the song showed, its a moment of CB feeling safe in each other's embrace. And it is a moment of happiness and bliss, giving into the feeling they have with each other. This isn't the rush of the fiery red from the episode before, this is blue, the other side of their love. It's true [true blue], and reliable, withstanding. However, it's important to note that we still have the romantic fire in the foreground of their scene. It combines the completeness of their love. It includes fiery passion and tranquil longevity. Both facets in their love.
Another meaning of Blair's blue dress that we'd find interesting is that before Queen Victoria popularized the white wedding dress, blue was the color of wedding dresses, representing purity, fidelity, and tranquility. And of course, as said before, it is a color representing life, like the the flowers printed on the dress as well, life that we know Blair is carrying. Also, the flowers on the dress could be representative of the floral bouquet that a bride carries, as well as the fact that her penthouse is adorned with elaborate pink flower arrangements.

Favorite parallel

The obvious parallel in this scene is the bridal style carry. He picks her up like a princess bride after their passionate kiss. He looks like a hero out of a romance novel, with the fire right in front of them. Carrying her up the stairs as if over a threshold. This iconic motion couple with their dress spells out a wedding foreshadow. One of the biggest ones we've seen.

Favorite cap(s)

I can't just pick one cap, and even my selections don't do it justice. But I figured I'd try not to go overboard. It's just there's so many caps to be chosen. From their meaningful looks, to their gentle touches, to the more passionate kiss, to the carry up the stairs. It was a beautifully directed scene (thank you Patrick Norris), and CB are too amazing here to keep to one scene.

3 favorite arts

These aren't necessarily my favorites, just the ones I gathered. And since I'm lazy, two happen to be mine. But I happen to love the second one, because of the caps used and it is a beautiful hug.

by Taylor {makebelieve}

I adore this scene because it’s classic ChuckandBlair, “the devil redeemed and the angel drawn to the dark side.” They are sexy and they are scheming! I just really love the fact that scheming is just sort of a natural form of foreplay for them and the fact that this is a really fun scene. I also really like the part in front of the mirror because it’s obvious pregnancy foreshadowing… and it’s really cute how he runs his hand over her stomach too. My most favorite thing about the scene, though, is definitely when Chuck blurts out those three little words. I just love how easily they roll off his tongue. It’s remarkable how far he’s come since there was a time when he couldn’t even say them. Now, though, he can say them without thought or hesitation. I also love how he’s the one saying ‘I love you’ first without expecting her to say it back. I really can’t get over how adorable it is that he just blurts it out and the face he makes after he says it is priceless. Not to mention he is rocking some major bedhead which makes the entire ‘I love you’ even cuter. It really is just a lovely, lighthearted scene in the midst of some dark times and I will forever love how it showcases the fact that Chuck and Blair are truly happiest when they’re together.

I was ecstatic the first time I watched this scene. Seriously, this scene just brings me pure joy. I can’t help but smile every single time I hear Chuck blurt out the ‘I love you.’ I just love it so much. I think I had it up on youtube for weeks afterwards and I don’t even want to try to estimate the number of times I’ve watched it because I know it’s embarrassingly high (and growing because I do still rewatch it on occasion ).

The song playing in the background during this scene is Devils by Say Hi. I think it's a nice fit for the scene. It's interesting how in the song it says "he made it to my heart" since Chuck is the "devil" and has Blair's heart. It's maybe not the most ~epic song in the universe but it's fun and fits with the scene nicely. I like it

Outfits: Hmm their outfits. I guess they're alright. I wouldn't call either one of them a favorite but I don't hate what they're wearing either. Both of them are kind of boring but I still like them and I think the color of Chuck's tie goes nicely with Blair's outfit. I also think Blair's underwear could've been way sexier!

I love this scene because it shows us that Chuck and Blair's relationship is extremely passionate and all-consuming, but also incredibly sweet and loving. Chuck and Blair both seem so young, so vulnerable, and so totally in love.

When I first saw the scene my heart melted when Chuck readily admitted that he meant his ILY "with all [his] heart", and when Blair answered him with: "I will, I mean...I do." I think I gasped aloud when they kissed in front of everyone - it felt like a big, epic moment.

The use of The Pretty Reckless' "Make Me Wanna Die" worked brilliantly in the scene. The lyrics fitted perfectly with the party's Halloween atmosphere, and with CB's Gothic Romance-y "let's go up in flames together" kiss. But the song also contrasted well with CB's sweet, vulnerable side - shown in Chuck's nerves and Blair's ray-of-sunshine smile - in a scene that made it clear that CB had much more together than an "amour fou".

Obviously CB are dressed as "sinners" in this scene, in coordinating black and red (a nice nod to their outfits in 1.06). But there's more to it than that. Blair standing in front of Chuck in just her slip (having run away from Anne Archibald!) reminds us of that wonderful night at Victrola, whilst Chuck's red shirt under his black suit hints at just how raw and exposed he is in admitting his love for Blair at this time.

I love this scene for several reasons. Even though it broke our hearts to see them ending then, this scene gave us hope for their reunion. We got our first CB ILY/ILY2. I love how serious they both sounded when they said it. We got wedding foreshadowing with the I Dos. Their outfits matched.

How I felt the first time I watched this scene:
I felt sad because CB were ending, despite the fact they love each other. I felt happy because it was our first ILY/ILY2. Because Chuck believes in Blair. Because they were promising each other that someday, they would reunit. And lastly, I felt hope. Hope that Blair would find herself and then she and Chuck would find their way back to each other. I still hope for that.

Song, "Come Back To Me" By David Cook:
Just know I'm here
Whenever you need me
I'll wait for you
So I'll let you go
I'll set you free
And when you see what you need to see
When you find you, come back to me
Take your time I won't go anywhere
Picture you with the wind in your hair
I'll keep your things right where you left them
I'll be here for you
Oh and I'll let you go
I'll set you free
And when you see what you need to see
When you find you, come back to me
And I hope you find everything that you need
I'll be right here waiting to see
You find you, come back to me

Song explanation:
The song is Chuck's pov of Blair saying she needs to find herself and him saying that he will still be there once she does.

His suit matched her slip dress and coat. This was the second time Blair's been in a slip in public thanks to Chuck. Chuck and Blair look great in red and black. Like Chuck's tie. Didn't like Chuck's skull&bones pin but I do like his hair in this scene. Blair's hair was okay.

by Veronica {amoRDB}

I love this scene because it just screams “I still and always will love you.” From the expression on their faces, no one can deny the fact that Chuck and Blair were not happy. Despite everything they have been through, this moment makes me believe in their love again. I have never doubted their love before and probably will never, but with everything that has happened between them-all the heartache and the pain-one would start to believe Chuck’s words when he said “[he] can’t make her happy.” But then when you watch this scene, those words suddenly hold no truth whatsoever because he CAN make her happy. In fact, he DOES make her happy. For that moment in time, everything was perfect and that moment is proof enough that Chuck and Blair can have it all.

I have probably watched this scene about 50 times and I can never see myself getting sick of it because there is so much joy within it. When I first saw it, I could not stop smiling. With a couple as epic as Chuck and Blair, there are very few moments where you get to see them be happy. This is one of those rare moments. I must admit, that along with joy, I also felt relief in the sense that Chuck and Blair proved to all those doubters that they make each other happy. The way Chuck looks at Blair just touches a part of my heart because Chuck rarely smiles, but when he does it is so genuine and honest and when he looks at Blair with that smile on his face, you just know that he loves her and more importantly he loves seeing her happy. It’s obvious that he had no intention of leading or manipulating Blair into being with him. He took her to that bar mitzvah with the sole intention of calming her nerves, no matter how hard it was going to be for him to not lead her into doing something she didn’t want to do. His actions proved his maturity and love for her while her actions proved just how much she still loves him and how much she still wants him.

“Rolling in the Deep” is the perfect song to play during this scene. No other song could work as well as that one for this scene. The line “We could have had it all” says everything about Chuck and Blair because they could in fact have had it all. With the reality being that Chuck lost her and the scars, literally and figuratively, will always remind them of their love and that moment where they were dancing on chairs, happy.

I like to think that Chuck and Blair were matching during this scene. Chuck’s bow tie matches with the pink on Blair’s dress which I thought was really cute on her. Overall, I loved both their outfits, mainly due to the fact that they remind me so much of their outfits during the dance scene in 1x07.

Only CB can break my heart and make it fly at the same time. This scene puts me through every possible emotion: sadness, admiration, fear and finally relief (that's thanks to flawless acting of EL). Their ILY's give me a confirmation that it's not the end. It's never the end for them. That's why a little part of me wants to scream at Chuck. He thinks he can't give her everything. He wants to sacrifice their love, love you can write sonnets about, love that does make both of them happy, even when writers want us to believe otherwise, for Blair's fairytale with Louis. But he can't. It will just prolong the time before they realise there is no life for them with out each other by their sides.

music: In Safe Hands by Badly Drawn Boy
I'll leave you now
In safe hands
Cool your soul
It's love still stands
But failing that
Just cool down
Wouldn't you love to make it?
Is this real or am i just imagining?

With wings take flight
The rose of why
And with that rose
The case is closed

But i need you now
To help me somehow
Well i'm scared to face it
This final kiss
But i know i'll remember it

You gave your best to me
Allow yourself to be
Free

It raids your memory
Still i'm sorry for failing
A time for change
Well i need you now
To help me out

I think writers did a great job with putting this exact song into the scene even though we can barely hear the words. Chuck does believe that he does what's best for Blair. He wants her to be happy and have a fairytale she deserves so much (and he thinks he can't give her that). But at the same time he needs her to help him too, He can't do this on his own. He's not strong enough.

As usual Chuck's light purple bowtie and the rose in the boutonnière match perfectly with pink accent's at Blair dress. It seems like a pattern. CB just have to complete eachother with their outfits during every important for them moment. What's more important they do it intuitively. The only thing I think would have been done better is Blair's hair. I know she wants to be a grown up and live up to the expectation royal family has for her but I miss her hair loose with big curls around her head.

I love how this two scenes mirror each other. You can see how in both scenes they have tears in their eyes even though what they are saying in 4x22 is a total opposite of 4x02. In ILY2 scene they both say what Chuck has been dying to hear in TS scene. It simply shows how much they acomplished through out that time. Chuck managed to earn Blair's forgiveness and respect and Blair overcame her fears and owned up to the truth that has always been in her.

Chuck&Blair/Damon&Elena forehead kiss parallel

Chuck : I need to let you go, you need to let go.
Damon: I don’t deserve you. But my brother does.

Another striking parallel is CB/DE forehead kiss. It's their way to deal with their feelings. Feelings that in their minds are not right. They want Blair/Elena to be happy no matter what and if it means they can't be with them then let be it.

Favorite cap

I think the main reason Chuck kisses Blair's forehead is becuase he's scared kissing her lips will take all that strengh to let her go away from him. On the other hand he can't do nothing. He has to show her his feelings because words are not enough in that moment. Nothing is enough.

I chose the 4x22 last CB scene. And the reason I did is because after everything they have went through, all the pain, suffering, they were still able to get to a good place where they could just be friends. I love this scene so much because Chuck is able to let Blair go and put her happiness above his own. He wants her to be happy and however that’s acheived, he does it. Because he loves her and he knows it’s the right thing to do. Music is playing in the background of course, but not really as a song. Either way this scene was very special.

The emotions I felt the first time I watched this scene was happiness. After having my favorite couple go through so much.... it was nice to finally see them have some stable ground. I have watched this scene too many times to know the actual number. I love it. I love them.

There isn’t a background song for this scene but a song that reminds me of it would be Rolling In The Deep because it was in the episode and even though it didn’t play in this particular scene it still reminded me of it. And what CB have.

I loved the CB outfits in this scene. And they were defintely matching. Blair was wearing her pink dress that matched Chuck’s pink tie. They are always matching and I cannot think of a better couple to do so.

Favorite parallel

My favorite parallel would have to be this one: and it is made by my good friend Tweety. link. The parallel would have to be the 4 last pictures. In 1x13 Blair was late but she is not pregnant and not very happy about it. And in 4x22 there is a chance that she has and I’m choosing to believe so and she is glowing.

Favorite cap

link
I chose this cap because it says so much. It’s not just a simple kiss on the cheek. It’s a scene where two people that love each other are finally at a good place. Letting each other go and be happy. Blair is glowing and Chuck gives her the shy smile. And before he leaves he gives her a kiss on the cheek showing how mature he really is. He’s growing up and turning into a man that his father never was. He’s letting go of the past so that Blair can have her future.

Welcome to The CB Bubble, Where Everything Is Chuck & Blair and Nothing Hurts ...

“We bonded over a mutual love of scheming and burlesque.”
-Chuck Bass (4x14 – Panic Roommate)

Part of the reason why we are able to tear through so many threads and post so often is a result of how close we are. Over the months, and in many cases, years, for all of us, we’ve bonded over a mutual love of scheming, burlesque, limo sex, piano sex, and of course, Chuck and Blair. But our relationships and friendships go a lot deeper than just Chuck and Blair. Much like our OTP, we know that families aren’t necessarily just the group of people you’re born into – part of life is finding people who you feel like family with. We can come to each other in times of trouble, we can bond over the strangest things, and we’ve come to look to each other as close friends, even though we are in some cases half a world apart.

“You can tell us anything! We don’t judge. We’re the Non-Judging Breakfast Club. We’re your best friends. Anything you did is something we did, too.”
-Blair Waldorf (1s18 – Much I Do About Nothing)

This is how powerful this ship is and this is how dedicated to it we are. The power of love that overcomes all and that we hope will inevitably bring Chuck and Blair back to each other has brought us all together. When Josh Schwartz and Co. put Chuck and Blair together years ago, they probably never thought there’d be a group of us who are as passionate as we are about this ship. And surely they didn’t think that they’d actually create a subgroup of people from everywhere in the world who would become as attached to each other as we all are – we came together because of Chuck and Blair, but we stay together not only because of them, but because of so many things.

“It wouldn’t be my world without you in it.”
-Blair Waldorf (4x02 – Double Identity)

This year, we started to refer to this thread as “The Bubble.” A safe place where we can all come and ship Chuck and Blair and support each other. We don’t go trolling on other ships’ threads and when others come in to tear us down, we stand strong together. One thing that we undoubtedly love about this group is that we are able to pick up our computers and phones and bring our friends with us anywhere – to work, to class, to the library, on vacation. Wherever we are, our friends can be with us, too. And strangely, because we all ship the same couple, we all have similar personality traits and similar interest. Some of us ship other shows and characters with each other.

We have shared in so many memories together. We celebrate each other’s birthdays, we know each other’s favorite things. We know each other so well and have so many inside jokes. We are so close, we have actually adopted a family tree. Much of it has been developed over general silliness and inside jokes. We can spend an entire night joking around with each other and almost never touching on CB. We enjoy each other’s company! But we also take our bonds to heart. Below, you will find the most current version of the family tree:

Silly though some of it may be, we love each other and always will, just like Chuck and Blair. And also, like Chuck and Blair, we’re a little unique and different and feisty. But we all found each other because of CB. The 2,000 thread milestone is as much about our bond as it is about theirs.

“I will always be your family.”

-Blair Waldorf (3x13 – The Hurt Locket)

This is The Bubble. This is our CB family. Get to know us!

"I remember when..."

I remember when I started to post here. It was on thread #15 and I believe that the thread went by pretty quickly. I remember that I couldn't keep up and everyone knew each other already so I used to post and then just disappear before posting again. This was one week before the famous limo scene. The posters were all excited or the episode, the script had been leaked I think, and I didn't really understand why. I didn't really watch the promo for it. Anyway, people were excited for it and I just kept shipping Chuck and Blair even if they were totally UC back then. Though, the chemistry between Ed and Leighton was undeniable.

When the episode aired the thread was on fire and Chuck and Blair weren't UC anymore; they were the real deal. Anyway, I made myself comfortable in the thread and started to post more and I got crazier. As the time went more posters started post with us and old posters disappeared in the thin air. This thread didn't seem to know what 'slow' meant since we killed threads like crazy. And I remember the awesome just do it day. It was just too much CannaBis. We had a CB!school and everything. We also had 'ORAWCBDFDDD' something, I still can't remember the name though I'm sure that LB does since she wrote it down. Some of the posters who made the Just Do It day amazing are here today, while others aren't. Still, I remember each one of them and what they brought to this thread.

Though the thread did get slow during season 3. We had some posters leave us and we were happy when finished a thread per day. I've seen people come and go for the last four years. Some are still Chuck and Blair fans and can be found over at other boards but others aren't any more. I guess that it's sad since we used to fan girl over Chuck and Blair together, but it is what it is. People always come and go but the people who are posting in this thread at the moment have created this comfortable environment, and we've become a Chuck and Blair family/bubble thread.

We don't judge. We don't go against each other or create drama between the posters. We are close because we love Chuck and Blair as a couple and characters, and we love the actors who portray them. When someone is down or has a bad hair day we are there for them. We support them, even if me make titles out of their bad hair days. Still, we don't judge.

I've been here posting since thread #15 and I think that it's all the posters here who made me come back, even if the show is pissing me off. It would feel wrong if I was still a member but didn't post in the Chuck and Blair thread. I've made friends here and I just love the environment and all the people who post here.

I still can't believe that we've reached the 2000th but I would like to thank everyone who used to post here and to those who are still posting. Thank you for helping us reach this amazing milestone and thank you for what you've brought to this thread and board. Thank you for being dedicated to Chuck and Blair, even if you don't ship them any more. Also, thank you Mon and Iszy for organizing everything. You girls are amazing. Thank you Heather for the bios and all of your hard work. Thank you to everyone for participating, this wouldn't have happened without you. And last but not least, thank you to everyone for stopping by and celebrating with us.

Love,
Aurora "big momma"
