Lilly isn't an evil mom sure she isn't perfect but she does love her children and try to put them first.

I don't really understand what you mean... you're talking about episode twelve of season one? When Serena asked her mother not to go away with Rufus? I probably would've done the same thing if I would've been in that situation.

And Lily wasn't exactly nice to Serena a lot of times I mean who calls the police on her daughter to avoid a scandal?! I don't call that nice I don't hate Lily - in fact I actually like her, but she has done a lot of bad stuff regarding her kids in the past - you can't really deny that

I don't think Rufus has anything to do with Lily's ways to raise her kids Maybe she sees the way he treats Dan/Jenny and regrets what she did but I really don't think so

For me this is not about hating Lily (Like I said earlier, I don't hate her ), this is about how I don't get how you could treat your children like that

hm serena threat her mother there in episode 12 sorry, i would not handle like serena there, if i would be in this situation sorry,, that was really to much there,, most things would go in different ways maybe if serena had different handle there.. i dont know, its only my opinion..

yeah i agree lily was not nice to serena too, that is so dammed true , see this episode 24 season two,, ,,but i think there belongs even two persons to this,, so serena and lily...

and oh rufus had changed in lily much things,, he could give her advice with her kids there.. i think that would be good.. i think how they shows both now, its a good way.. rufus is different as lilys other husbands hm,, he is different,,

lol thanks,, and i am sorry that i thought that you hate lily,it was only hm so much people hate lily and this what you have said, said these hater too,, in different part..

so sorry..

and yeah i dont find lily perfect but this makes she for me human,,

She’s ditched her true friend for minions who’ll stab her in the back in a heartbeat, and in the end, being Queen of Constance will gain her nothing, just as it ultimately gained nothing for Blair.

I also don’t have the sympathy and understanding for Jenny’s motivations for being Queen Bee like I did with Blair, so while I loved Blair no matter what she did, I can’t feel the same way for Jenny.
What motivations did Blair have to be Queen? She was pretty, popular, rich, and from a UES family. Queen or no Queen, Blair would have been fine in high school. Especially with a best friend like Serena. Not to mention that there were plenty of times that Blair did things to people that I saw little to no justification for besides jealousy. She's treated Serena horribly in the past and a couple times without cause. I don't understand how it is justifiable that Blair can be a bitch and put people down and enforce a social hierarchy just because she had a crappy home life. Blair at least had one parent whom she loved very much and that was her father. It seems to me that there were many years that the Waldorfs were happy.

I don't understand how just because Jenny came from a good family that she should be ok with being a social outcast and having no friends. Besides the fact that Jenny's family wasn't so perfect either. Her parents got divorced just like Blair's did and her mom cheated on Rufus. It wasn't all sunshine and roses in the Humphrey house. Of course Jenny is going to be affected by this. She hit puberty without a mother figure. Not to mention, her mom isn't someone I would want to model myself after if I were her. And up until now she's lived with Rufus and Dan. Yes, they loved her but they're still guys who didn't understand what a teenage girl was going through. And she didn't have any girl friends. Her only friend was Eric who was also a boy.

If Jenny is not Queen, then she is nobody at that school. It doesn't matter that she supposedly has money now. She's new money which pretty much = trash in the UES and she's still from Brooklyn. She doesn't fit in with these girls as we saw last episode. She was embarrassed because she didn't know how to dance like all the other girls. Jenny would be tortured if she wasn't Queen and she dealt with having no friends and a terrible high school experience for TWO years. Is it so far-fetched to think she wouldn't want to go back to that?

I think all of this is plenty of motivation, characterization etc for Jenny to be acting the way she is and going through what she's going through.

pretty/reckless ITA.
Blair was always on Serena shadow true but she was a never an outside like Jenny and had everything so even even if Blair wasn't queen her life would still be easy with money.Jenny was always looked downed by mostly everyone because she's poor but Blair never suffered from that.

The most consistent theme of Gossip Girl is that money isn't everything. Chuck, Blair, Nate and Serena may have more money than Dan and Jenny but they also had MUCH worse home lives. Dan and Jenny (Dan in particular) had parents that were involved with their kids, as well as encouraged and supported them. Moreover, Jenny and Dan are HARDLY poor. They're middle class at worst.

IA- it's about the emotional scars and has nothing to do with what economical class Blair or Jenny come from. I think the only thing Jenny really would have to struggle with from her family life is her parents divorce. That's hard but not as bad as what the others have gone through emotionally. As far as home life goes Dan and Jenny have had the best upbringing thus far.

Dan and Jenny did have the best upbringing on the show. So I dont get how Jenny had a hard life. She had parents who loved/accepted her, yeah her parents got divorced but she still sees her mom (They just dont show it on screen but do mention it) and I wouldnt call them poor either just not as rich as the UESers.

The thing is though, in Season One, we saw that Jenny saw what being Queen Bee did to Blair, and she told Blair she didn't want it. In Season Two, once she got back to school, we saw her beating the minions at their own game, and she seemed just fine being who she was. I don't think she was really treated as an outcast, and I don't think she'd be tortured if she wasn't Queen Bee. I think she'd be able to make her own way at the school with Eric as her friend and ally and do just fine.

To be sure, Blair has said and done some horrible things, but I think us Blair fans have all accepted that's part of her personality, and most of us still love her no matter what, but when Jenny says and does horrible things, I just can't feel the same type of empathy for her character that I do for Blair's character, because I simply don't like Jenny like I like Blair.

You know for me it's the opposite love Jenny and dislike Blair
And I don't like the way Blair tread everyone and how she thinks she's so much better than everyone.

That's fine for us to disagree. I completely understand that we all have our favorite characters and I respect that.

I think what makes me understand and even enjoy Blair's bitchiness is that Leighton is such an incredibly talented actress, and she brings layers and depth to Blair's character that goes beyond the writing, and a lot of times, her bitchiness and plotting is presented in a comical way that takes the edge off and just makes me laugh.

Exactly. Leighton is why Blair is one of my favs. She just gets her to the core and plays her brilliantly.

Being able to agree to disagree is great. And helps makes these convos extremely interesting; hearing so many POVs.

That's exactly how I feel too. I love Blair and it's mostly because of the way Leighton plays her.
