Here's the transcript for the show.

Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd sit on a love seat and introduce the next segment of the show.

Sherri: On the new show, Gossip Girl, an anonymous blogger dishes the scoop on the privileged, prep-school lives of Manhattan teens. It captures all the sex, scandal--we like that--and back-stabbing that goes on in High School, but there's one couple that seems to elude it all. Especially at the holiday season.

Sherri; Take a look.

CLIP OF DS

Serena talking on the phone, standing near a busy street with lots of traffic noise surrounding her.

Serena [playfully teasing]: So, you couldn't make it past the salad, huh?

Dan, talking to Serena on the phone, while pacing back and forth in the Humphrey Kitchen. Jenny, Rufus, and Alison are seen in the back ground scurrying around to finish the Thanksgiving feast.

Dan: I opened the cranberries. My work is done. How's Blair's?

Serena [disappointment prevalent in her voice]: Uh, I wouldn't know. She gave me the boot.

Dan [disconcerted and concerned]: What? She kicked you out of her house? What happened now?

Serena [elusive]: Uh, don't ask. But, the good news is, my mom is gonna slice us up a pumpkin. Oh! And there's duck.

Dan: No, no, no. You can't eat duck and raw pumpkin on Thanksgiving.

Dan contemplates the situation, and makes a quick thinking decision.

Dan: Uh, you know what? I'm the guardian of Vanessa's sister's van for the weekend. And, we here at the Humphrey manor have an oddly large Kitchen table.

Serena [elated]: What are you suggesting?
[bites lip as she anticipates his answer]

END OF CLIP

Whoopi looks bored while Sherri seems entertained and laughs.

Sherri: Please welcome Blake Lively and Penn Badgely.

Blake saunters out, with a bounce in her step with Penn following behind her.

Sherri: Hey, guys.
Sherri; Hi, Blake, How are you? Nice to meet you.
[Blake hugs Sherri then moves on to hug Whoopi]
Sherri: Hey, Penn. How are you?
[Penn hugs]
[Penn stands awkwardly for a moment before reaching in and proffering his hand-shake and hugging Whoopi, who seems surprised but not unpleased by the bold gesture]
Sherri: Hello, Blake and Penn. How are you guys doing?

[All seated comfortably. Whoopi and Sherri sit on one love seat and Penn and Blake sit on the other with a respectable amount of space between them.]

Blake: We're fantastic. How are you?
Sherri: So congratulations on the success of your show. It's doing really well.
Blake: Thank you.
Penn: Thank you.
Whoopi: Are you surprised by the success?
Blake: Yes, a little bit. It's a little strange to walk down the street, and to see billboards--
Whoopi: Everywhere.
Blake; Yeah. It's, um--
Whoopi: Everywhere. Buses.
Penn: It's surreal.
Whoopi: Everywhere.
[Blake and Penn nod in agreement.]
Whoopi: You know there's a lot of, uh, provocativeness, in the show. Sometimes, parents get a little freaked out by what they're seeing. Do you feel that it's too much or do you feel like you guys really do have it under control--it's not outrageous?
Blake: Well, I mean, I think that our show takes place in a heightened reality a little bit. That a lot of the realism is lost in the sparkle, and it's meant to. Um, so, you need to, for the entertainment and the grit. Um, but, this stuff does happen and it is good that we do address these issues. It does open the door for conversation for parents to have with their children.
Penn: Also, I think the kids that are engaged in the most, uh, abuse--the drugs, the alcohol, the sex--they tend to lead the most shattered family lives. You know, you see repercussions of it as such a young age.
Whoopi: Mmmm, hmmm...
Penn: And, you know, teenagers are teenagers. I think, there's an element of it that's very realistic, you know? There is a heightened reality because it's television. Um, but, they did get it from somewhere. You know.
[Whoopi smile at Penn, encouraging him to continue.]
Blake: And, the family who has it most together is his family. They don't really participate in any of that. They have a very open communication.
Penn: Yeah. They provide a contrast at least. It's not all sex, and uh, and, uh... [rolls eyes at his floundering]... what ever.
Whoopi: Rock and Roll.
[Everyone laughs]
Whoopi: So, I--
Sherri: You--
Sherri: Oh, I'm Sorry, you go ahead..
Whoopi: No, I was just glancing at my notes. I understand you guys have known each other a long time.
Blake: Yes.
Penn: Yeah. Yeah.
Whoopi: Since you were 8?
Blake: No. 11.
Whoopi: 11? I was thinking...
Penn: No, no, I was 12.
Blake: He thinks it's less than it was. He thinks it was 8 years, and it was definitely 9. Years ago that we knew each other.
Penn: Yeah.
Sherri: Now this is so funny, you're doing a show called Gossip Girl. Now you're splashed everywhere, you're in all of the trades, what is the silliest piece of gossip that is written or has it been true?
Blake; You wanna go first?
Penn: Uh, umm, I think I read somewhere that I was an author, and I was writing a book. I'd love to be writing a book--I'd love to have that as an ambition--I'm not. I'm not. I may at one point, but I'm not now.
Blake: Um, yeah, there was an article recently that was saying that Leighton and I were "frenemies". Um, and it is...
Sherri: Frenemies? What is that?
Blake: That were um friends but we're also enemies. And, it's, they see our characters on the show and they want that to be true in a sense, and, um, I think they want everybody's characters in real life to emulate that. Um, and it's really strange because they always want to pit women against each other. You don't hear about Penn and Chace hating each other and being jealousy and competitive. So, it, I mean, it's just very silly. You know, we all get along very well, and I just... it's upsetting that they have to do that to try to sell magazines. There's enough gossip on the show so just watch that.
Whoopi: How do you feel about gossip? I mean it's one of those things we talk about from time to time. It seems to come up quite a bit for us. But what do you think about gossip and did you have to deal with gossip as a kid? About you or around you?
Blake: I um, I think, I-I think it's a bad thing. I think do watch the show, though. [Everyone laughs]
Blake: No but I think it's--I've been a victim of it before in High School. I was involved in a lot of activities so a lot of people knew who I was, and, um at one point the parents lied and said that my parents paid the show choir director to put me in the choir. Because I can't sing or dance to save my life.
Sherri: But you were lead in the choir?
[Blake snaps her fingers and gives some attitude]
Blake: I was in there. I was "I'm supposed to be in this choir." So, yeah, I was very passionate. And, um, you know they-they put me in the choir. Um, but I lost a lot of friends because of it.
Sherri: Yeah.
Blake: Um, so you know that, that was hard to deal with. But, um, I think it's mostly a negative thing and you know it's sad.
Penn: It's inevitable, though. That's the thing. I think it will always be negative in the end, but it starts out a lot of times as an innocent thing. People love to talk about other people which is natural. That is why they watch television.
Sherri: Penn, I want to say your mom is here visiting you for Thanksgiving.
Penn: Oh, she's right there!
[Shot of surprised and embarrassed Penn's Mother]
Sherri: You know what, Mom?
[Penn's mother blushes and mouths, "What?"]
I wanted to show you a couple pictures of Penn. Because I hear you were a little bit of a heart throb. So I wanted to--did you see these pictures?
Sherri: Bring them up. Do you have those pictures of Penn? When he was...?
[Blake bursts out laughing]
[Penn, off screen, startled exclaims, "Oh, no, Oh, no. Oh, no. I can't believe you're showing that on television."]
[Blake continues to laugh as 3 pictures are shown of Penn's past hairdos. He's sprawled on the ground and appearing seductive.]
Sherri: Such a heart throb. People are saying you are one of the sexiest men.
[Blake, unable to stop laughing]: Oh, my god those pictures. [bursts out laughing again]
Penn [embarrassed and flustered]: Well, I...
Sherri: Do you like those pictures?
Penn [forcing himself to smile]: Yeah... [too embarrassed to lie]; No.
Sherri: Do you like those pictures?
Penn: Uh, yeah, no...
Blake: They're actually framed in his house. Around his bed.
[Mom still staring up at young Penn pictures]
[Blake still heard laughing in the back ground.]
[Penn blushing and biting his lip.]
Sherri: Guys, thank you so much for coming here and gossiping a little bit with us. Gossip Girl airs Wednesday nights so check your local listings. And we'll be right back.
[Crane shot as Blake, still giggling, looks at Penn, who gives her an answering look, which seems to say, "stop laughing at me."]

Sorry I've been gone, but I'm working on the "history of Dan & Serena" for the 50th thread. It's coming along nicely. I'm watching DS clips and music videos for inspiration. And, of course, I'm stealing a bit from my reviews I've typed up so far. But I think you guys won't mind reading some of this stuff twice.
