Hi Guys so. We're getting really REALLY CLOSE TO THREAD 100 so this has forced my hand. I'm compiling the Thread 100 celebration Soundtracks, essentially updating the one that is currently in the OP - celebrating that Dair is no longer an AU ship but a CANON ship.

For anyone starting the next threads, please post a copy of this post in the beginning for easy tracking of the other members, thanks!

The original plan was to go for a basic fanmix - made up of 10-12 songs - to replace the old one in the OP. I've mentioned before that based on the mentions of a number of peeps from previous threads, plus the stuff i've come up with, plus the canon songs from the show score - i had close to 40 songs. it is currently at 43 songs/recordings including variations (different artists give different interpretations).

And we haven't even taken into account the newbies and what they think...

So...in celebration of our growing numbers (almost 500!) and the coming 100 thread, the idea now is we have 2 fanmixes/albums. It is going to be a 2 Volume collection! 20-24 songs/recordings!

Celebrating DAir - The Degas (the Blair collection) and The Beuys (the Dan collection).

The Degas will have most of the classical/old romance songs/recordings. it will be like watching the Remains of the Day, the Philadelphia Story or When Harry Met Sally. Because Dair is all about the old school romance/friendship.

The Beuys will have most of the more modern songs/recordings.

The ff. songs will be included already because they are canon:

So we have 4 filled slots out of 20-24 songs in the fanmixes.

I am opening the floor for nominations for the other songs to be included. To make it easy for voting later on, we'll cap the nominations list at 60 songs/recordings. We already have 40 on the backburner, that means we are looking for additional 20 or so.

Why 60? It seems like a good number to work with, given the survivor 60 game (please don't forget to play!). Plus, it will be brutal to eliminate stuff later so yeah we don't want the buffet to be too big. This means that you can only nominate 3 (three) songs/recordings.

These are the categories of stuff that can be nominated:
1. Old School - these are the classics. We're talking songs that evoke The Philadelphia Story, When Harry Met Sally, Breakfast at Tiffany's. of course, they have to be DAir.
2. Canon Sonic - these are the songs/recordings that capture the story of Dan and Blair as they happen. Think as if you're the musical supervisor on the show and you're scoring that handholding scene. Would you choose that exact same song they used? Will you choose another song used during the show? Use a completely different song? For reference, here is the complete list of all songs ever used on GG.

3. Wish fulfillment - think of all the fanon tropes for DAir in fanfic and fanvid. Dan writing/reading Blair a novel/poem? Dan and Blair singing karaoke? Dan and Blair on the subway? This category is about all the stuff that hasn't happened yet but you wish/prayer circle TPTB Dan and Blair will do and become (and that includes endgame). Special category within this section is (1) Karaoke and (2) Spoken Word. Of course we want Dan and Blair to sing the most adorable song, but what would be the most embarrassing song that they could possibly possibly sing together?

Valentine by John Fuller (obviously nominated by me and included in the voting round, and all because of the fanfic The Couple that weren't). I can hear all the Pablo Neruda recordings coming... the question though: is Dan a Neruda kind of guy? sorry but this is where you can go all meta. Seriously, I'm having goosebumps imagining Dan's baritone with this poem.

So the nominations are open for 24 hours. Again, you can nominate 3 songs, one for each category at most. If you can't think of a song in a category no pressure you don't have to nominate in that category. You can second any songs/recordings that have already been nominated. Please note that any songs used in fanvids are likely already included in the 40 but that does not stop you from nominating them. It just means that those songs really exemplify the pair. Please take into account that different artists treat a song differently, so we treat different interpretations as different songs. Also, don't just think of the lyrics - does the musicality of the song/recording fit? Haters have said that Dan and Blair don't work together, but sometimes a song that doesn't seem like a match is the perfect match. Please use the following nomination format:

Song title, Artist, Category, random fanwank why you think this song is perfect

The songs/recordings with the most number of nominations will be included in the 60 VOTE OFF over the weekend. The 60 will then be whittled down by you guys to - gasp - 16-20. that's it. i'm going to need the weekend to organize the page with all the actual music links so people know what they're voting for.
