For me, the main difference between the NS/DS relationships are that Nate and Serena don't have to act any different around each other; they can just be themselves. Because of the social differences between D and S, it's like she has to change herself to be good enough for him.

Yeah. Dan just can't seem to understand her "wild" past. She kinda has to change herself when she's with him. But with Nate, she can just be herself.

I agree even thought I like DS, its like Serena has has to feel guilty for having privileges while growing up while Dan didn't.Its not her fault her parent had money and power and Dan dislike her friends for this reason too.

for me, Serena & Nate are princess and prince of the UES. and they have more similarities then one might think.. they both dont judge/dont care where other people come from, they treat everyone with respect (like some of you said yesterday, Nate ALWAYS treated D with respect, despite everything). they dont need to live the life they do, and dont use their standards to feel better, or push themselves higher or however you call it. ^^ they're both lost, in their own way. Serena, who wants to close the chapter "past" and needs to find her way in the NOW. Nate, who's pressured into anything by his father, girl, college..everything, but he doesnt want all that. not at all. and he has parents who absolutely dont care about him/his interests!

for me, Serena is his savior. seriously, her personality and spirit is perfect for him!
