^ I love the sense of comfort in that pic. Steve living with Brandon provided us with so many upfront couple-y moments for Steve/Clare. I love that we finally saw Steve as a settled lover who no longer seemed interested in playing the field when it came to women, because everything he wanted existed in her.

I also enjoyed seeing him finally getting together with a girl who wanted him, and not his friends.

(Ok, she tried with Brandon and David first, but maybe things would have been different had she met him before Brandon, or got to know him before Kelly matchmade her with David.)

It's so funny watching the difference in the way that Claire acts with Brandon in season 4 compared to how she acts with David in season 5 and Steve in season 6. With Brandon, I always got the sense that she was just trying to rebel against her dad's good opinion of her.

Later on, from S5 onwards, she seemed more independent from his opinion.

How did he like Steve, btw? I do not remember, but I think he did not mind their relationship. Especially when he met Samanta

I noticed a significant change in Clare since 5x03 when she moved in with Kelly and Donna. She resolved to be a good room-mate, try not to snore loudly () and promised Kelly she was no longer interested in Brandon.

I think he was very welcoming of Steve it was probably a relief for Mr Arnold to not have to worry about his daughter acting rebellious in the way she did in season 4. Being with Steve really settled her down.

That's why season 7's finale wasn't realistic to me. I didn't believe that he would be okay with Clare just walking away from Steve, OR with her blaming Steve for their parent's break-up.

She blamed him for it? I do not remember that. I remember that she did not like idea of them getting together AT ALL

Yes, I remember the episode where Steve's mother publicly dumps Mr Arnold, Clare immediately starts yelling at Steve and slandering Mrs Slanders - and the whole thing is basically the beginning of the end for them.

I remember thinking how much I hated how the writers were clearly trying to destroy Clare's character in those episodes leading up to her exit.
