Well no, it was not one way, especially not in Andrea/Brandon case. She rejected him, more than once, he did not reject her one single time. Brandon was not indifferent to Andrea, he was just ready to explore the other opportunities after she rejected him, and she was less ready. It could also be a gendered thing, a matter of shyness more than attachment to Brandon. Let's say that her feelings were stronger than his, but he was not indifferent. Had she wanted him, she could have got him. I think they were both just really clumsy.
Kelly/Steve thing is somewhat similar, but it's not the same. They used to be in a relationship, and it was not short. She did fall out of love with him sooner than he did, but she was not indifferent in S1 and S2. I think she just wanted to move on more than she was really able to. I think the premise of the first two seasons was that she would eventually have to admit that he was the best for her. __________________

Yeah, he got the most credits as her savior that night, but actually it was Brenda and Donna who did the most important work. They got into a room and interrupted the bastard, and then Brenda called for Dylan who brought Steve with him.
