Nah, Matt and Kelly weren't together yet. Brandon is sad that everyone (especially Kelly) going on about their lives and not focused on Brandon leaving.

It was hard for me to imagine this show going on without Brandon, but it wasn't Ally McBeal or The Andy Griffith Show. It was never centered on one person. His departure still felt kind of surreal, though.

It was a downer for me when some of them left. It depends on how you feel about a character.
I was most disappointed by the departures of Nikki, Clare, Dylan, and, of course, Brandon. I didn't like seeing Jim and Cindy go, but it felt kind of natural at that point. |

I kind of wanted Jim and Cindy to hang around longer...I still think it's not believable of them leaving the house to be managed by Brandon by himself.

Perhaps. But Brandon was old enough to live on his own at that point.
If Jim and Cindy needed to be written out, there was really no other acceptable option but to have them leave town. You could just move Brandon across the city, but that would mean removing the Walsh house from the show, and they apparently didn't want to do that. |
