 I can't believe you counted those, Amy. Um, ... yeah, catching up from last thread now.  I took a slight detour.Oh! And I wanted to mention that, for this title, I wasn't really referring to the end scene. I'm talking about their large-scheme storyline of changing their lives with the help of each other's love.  __________________

Amy was just some girl that Matt met during his S10 road trip with Dylan, and slept with after accidentally ingesting punch spiked with hallucinogens. Dylan witnesses this, but decides not to tell Kelly her fiance cheated on her because he "didn't want to see her get hurt" (not for Matt's sake), and cause he didn't want her to break off her engagement and get back together with him out of anger, not love. But Kelly suspects Matt's holding back on her about something and hears the name "Amy" in conversation(?), so he makes up the story that Dylan had hooked up with her instead of him. I gotta admit, I liked that this enabled Kelly to tease Dy with terms like 'Don Juan of the Desert', but it was all kind of unnecessary cause we were given 16+ other reasons for Kelly and Matt to break up/Dy-K to get together in the end. It was overkill, and highly unlikely that these boys would take a road trip together, but I digress ...
So after Amy becomes part of Dylan's fictional storyline to preserve K's falsely positive outlook on Matt, Dy obviously loses even more respect for the guy. I'd like to think he gains a bit more respect for himself at the same time ("You're no better than me." [... for Kelly to be with  ]) Kelly actually comes to the conclusion that she's not over Dylan and was going to marry Matt essentially because he's "the most decent guy [she] know[s]" BEFORE learning of Matt's infidelity. She finds that out immediately after breaking up with him cause Matt confesses, thinking that Dy had told her to break them up. Then of course she gets pissed at Dy for not telling her Matt had cheated. ... But she forgives him, accepts his reasoning stated above, and ultimately gets very firm on the fact that she wants to be with him but take things slow, and under no circumstances can he keep secrets from her. Thus, that 'no secrets' mention in one of their first scenes in the last episode.__________________

I don't see why TPTB didn't just make these characters their own persons instead of trying to fill the shoes of two of the most popular male characters in teen soap history.
