Well for one he would have felt ashamed and embarrassed seeing as Kelly had actually "told him so", and of course, I don't think he was ready to admit it at that stage, he was obviously down & out and didn't want anyone judging him and no offense to Kelly but I think she would have (at that stage) not been the best person to talk to him about it .. I'm not sure how to explain that

I think that's what he feared from Kelly cause he couldn't take the chance of it being the case, but that she actually would be rather sympathetic. As long as he didn't get defensive and insulting, she'd be there for him.

Yeah, I could see that. He had Jim Walsh in his head, so to speak, his 'how could you be so stupid as to let those people' mother, and his own guilt over losing his sister. What's great about S5 is that, midway, Dylan does become forthright and vulnerable, confessing his mistakes, and we see that Kel is very sensitive to him. It's a success story, except that he sacrifices his love for her several times. I guess that would make it a successful tragedy.

I was meaning to type this a while ago, I think I mentioned some old 90210 books I have, not the novels, just very cheap fan style books anyway this one called "Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Scrapbook" by Gio di Tazza, 1992, anyway has a cute Luke/Jennie quote I thought you might like

I think at that time he was very willing to assume that no one would be on his side and give him sympathy, so he wasn't about to show his weaknesses. But you're right...he could have saved himself a hell of a lot of pain and misery if he had just reached out to Kelly.
