Bringing this over from the Senior Year novel for those who didn't get the chance to read yesterday as we burned through the thread:

Quote:

[118]
Kelly turned the corner at the far end of the hall, and Dylan went to speak with her. As he approached, she glanced around.
"You don't have to do that anymore", Dylan said. "It doesn't matter who sees us."
Kelly still seemed nervous. "I just don't want anybody to get hurt."
"You're going to hurt me if you don't come with me to the observatory tonight."
He spoke lightly, but Kelly remained worried. "We have to tell Brenda", she said.
"Tell her what?" Dylan asked. The woman was really terrific at making trouble for herself.
Kelly twisted her hands. "I'm sorry. I just feel like I need her permission to go out with you."
Kelly was obviously in a lot of pain. Dylan could understand that Brenda was her best friend, but he had to make Kelly believe, down where it counted, that his relationship with Brenda was over. Otherwise none of them would ever be happy. "Kelly", he said, "the truth is that the only person you need to get permission from is yourself."
[119]
Kelly nodded, but Dylan didn't believe she was convinced. He kissed her lightly on the cheek, reminded her once again of their date that evening, and went to biology class.

[136]
Dylan picked up Kelly and they drove to the top of Griffith Park, where they visited the planetarium of the observatory. It was an enormous round room with a domed ceiling. In the middle was a machine topped by a dumbbell with tiny holes in it. The whole affair was the size of a steam shovel and looked like an alien war machine. With it, the operator behind the lectern could project the night sky of any time or place on Earth.
This room had always impressed Dylan, even when he'd seen it for the first time on a seventh-grade field trip. Now he was a senior in high school, and he was sitting in the same room next to Kelly Taylor. He'd never considered taking Brenda here. He wasn't sure she'd like it. Somehow he had never doubted that Kelly would enjoy herself, and he seemed to be right. She was looking around, fascinated.
"On the seventh grade field trip, you sat next to Kenny Biller", Dylan said.
"You remember that?" Kelly said with amazement.
"How could I forget the suspense, waiting to see if Kenny had guts enough to make his move in front of the whole class."
Kelly shook her head, remembering. "He was so shy. He waited two months just to hold my hand. You were probably sitting with Deena Gornick."
[137]
Wow, Denna Gornick. Dylan hadn't seen her in years, not since her family moved back east somewhere. She had been quite a woman, even then.
"Deena was very, er, lively", he admitted fondly.
Kelly punched him in the shoulder and laughed.
The lights went down slowly as soothing music came out of nowhere. Soon the planetarium done was filled with stars, a niighttime show the likes of which - because of the lights of the city and the thick overcast - one rarely saw in the real Los Angeles sky. Dylan felt cut loose from his body. His mind floated free among the stars.
Then one of the astronomers began to talk about humankind's place in the universe.
"I think the lecturer said the exact same thing the last time we were here", Kelly whispered.
Their talking about junior high school put Dylan in a silly mood. "Aaiiee", he said into her ear. "We're trapped in a time warp! Scotty! Beam us out of here!" He shook her arm.
"Be quiet", Kelly said. "Mrs. Simpkus will hear and we'll get in trouble."
"I don't care. Let her send us to the vice-principal's office. If you can stand it, so can I."
They watched and listened to the show for a moment. Dylan could not recall being so relaxed in a long time - certainly not since Brenda had returned from France.
"So", Kelly whispered, "do you have guts enough to make your move in front of the whole class?"
[138]
Gently Dylan put his arm around Kelly and began to nuzzle her neck. She was warm and she smelled wonderful. They kissed and missed the next few minutes of the show. Dylan wanted to leave, go someplace where they could be alone, but he wanted to see the show, too. It would be magical. And magic was what this night was all about.
While Dylan became increasingly impatient, the lecturer told them about the night sky and about the planets. It seemed to Dylan that a full-length night had passed by the time the music swelled and artificial sun-light filled the planetarium dome. He took his arm from around Kelly's shoulders and growled as he stretched.
"Good show, huh?" Kelly asked.
"About halfway through I wanted it to be over. I wanted to be alone with just you."
"It took you half the show?" Kelly asked, teasing him. "I'm crushed."
"I'm a little slow about these things sometimes."
And an animation question.

I just saved an image sequence of 123 shots to make an awesome icon, which is only 4 seconds in real time. If I set each one to be only a nanosecond of a percent of a second long, will it still be a gigantic, way over 40kb size file? I'd like to get at least one opinion before I start importing 123 pics by hand in total vain. I'm in Photoshop.

emesoohci 07-18-2008 01:29 PM

Court could probably answer that better, but I think it would probably be too big. I think file size depends on the number and file size of the images, regardless of the length of the actual animation. I can never get them small enough to use as icons unless I only use 6 images or so.

playgroundDiaries 07-18-2008 04:23 PM

So much for my bright ideas. :pout:

Well, I have no idea why the audio didn't transfer when I imported this clip to iMovie, but this is the promo I'm working with. As if it doesn't go without saying, I LOVE the Kelly to Dylan fade in there. :D I'm working my way down to making an icon of it the way I did for my current one.

gbyepromo1.flv - Video - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

You're right. And the current breakdown, as far as I can tell, is that 14 stills at 220 colors will get you just under 40kb.

ride the lightning 07-18-2008 04:46 PM

If you have a high amount of stills (caps) it's going to make the file size massive, although if you make the animation in animation shop it actually reduces the file size for you when you save

Oh and morning   I'll add that ; ) to the title Mel.

playgroundDiaries 07-18-2008 04:58 PM

:yay: for smirks. Wish I had animation shop.

Another new vid:

Edit/ Mel that video isn't working :(

That's weird, Court. Try this link: YouTube - Kelly And Dylan- More Than Words

Well it's a long flirtation. ;)

The Jennie interview from S1? We have her quoted in the OP from that.

And here's yet another video:

YouTube - Kelly And Dylan- Just So You Know

And check out the wallpaper to her channel.

emesoohci 07-18-2008 07:04 PM

Ah, loving the wallpaper. Very nice. She sure puts out a lot of videos. It takes me forever to just make one.

Which quote is it? I haven't read them in a while.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. I could tell there was more to that interview. I was wondering what else she said.

Quote:

S1 DVD Interviews w/ Luke Perry and Jennie Garth:

LP on Dylan: “He has a very strong sense of himself. […] Everyone thinks that when you’re a senior in high school, ‘That’s it, man. This is your last chance. You gotta …’ Everything that happens to you your senior year defines you as a person. That’s not true, and I think that my boy’s real aware of that. And I think that’s important. I think that allows him to look deeper into people, right away, and see them for WHO they are, not WHAT they are and what status symbol they represent in school. And thusly, that’s one of the things that separates him from people. He sees how people are separated from each other … whether they do or not.”

JG on Kelly: “She’s very complex. She has a lot of insecurities that deal with if people like her and whether or not she’s strong enough to handle everything that’s going on in her life. […] She tries to keep herself looking cool and looking together for everyone else’s benefit. But when she goes home, it’s her quiet time and she really tries to deal with her feelings.”

Jaclyn
, you already made your latest video. You just fail to post it. :whip: it's done. Es bellisimo! Kapeesh?

emesoohci 07-18-2008 07:10 PM

It's not done! Kapeesh? :headslap: I'll try to post it next week.

playgroundDiaries 07-18-2008 07:22 PM

Okay, LOL.

So, in the quotes above, he sees all sides to people and she's a dichotomy. Works for me. ;)
