Good I mean I hope nobody misinterprets what I'm saying, he had every right to be in it and I'm sure he would have been but I saw the first articles when this reboot was announced and many of them were bringing up talk of that old triangle that I can't imagine any true fan really wants to see again Add to that the confusion over the fact that we're not even going to be watching them play those characters, and it just seems like we're getting a reality show starring people only 80's kids will really remember and millennials only seem to know Luke from 'Riverdale'

Triangles may bring audiences but in the long run it does damage the integrity of the show

Triangles can easily be the kiss of death for a show.

I feel as if the Kelly/Dylan/Brenda one would have wrapped up sooner if it had taken place in this era. Brenda fans would have (rightfully) been a lot more vocal and defended her against that betrayal.

The Brandon/Kelly/Dylan triangle took place when they were slightly older, so I feel it was handled slightly better... Albeit I hated that Kelly considered leaving him to travel the world with Dylan

When I looked into Kelly contemplating the trip around the world and Brandon giving the ring, it was clear that the writers were setting up Brandon and Kelly to be endgame - the ring was the biggest indication where the writers were going but just wanted to create a bit of drama to break up BK but eventually getting back together and become a married couple - it was very obvious. Many fans misinterpret the I Choose Me drama probably because they are not mature enough to understand it properly

I actually liked the fact that she chose herself. It was a funny twist that people interpreted as arrogant but it made sense to preserve the Dylan and Brandon friendship that way.

I agree that the ring established long-term commitment for BK. That said, the way they built upto it (having her have some sort of fling with Dylan in secret) was gross.

That part regarding Dylan was gross. Under the circumstances, she was kind of right to choose herself but I do blame her because in the end of the day she was in a relationship with someone and messed up big time.

I think she did sour the relationship by choosing herself. Brandon thought it would be a given that she would choose him since they were already dating. But when she said she was unsure, Brandon started to second think himself into thinking she may not be committed to this relationship like he is.

I, for one, would have been dubious if she had picked either one of them.

She had spent the entire episode spending equal amounts of time leading them on and going on these romantic dates with them, listening to them confess their love and promise her things about the future.

So if she had actually picked somebody at this point, I don't think it would have tied into her confusion in the rest of the episode.

(Add to that the fact that this was a soap opera, and soap operas draw out these story lines for as long as they can )

But as for BK, I think the writers knew that Dylan had to be out of the way for them to really have a chance at a healthy, fresh start together.

I agree. Same with the fact that DK needed Brandon to be out of the picture.

I think before the taking with the hypnotherapist, Dylan wanted Kelly back but not to the point where he would betray Brandon. But I guess afterwards, he felt like that him being with Kelly was meant to be. But after Kelly chose herself, he said something like “I can’t believe I could’ve misread her so much.” I wonder if he spoke with the hypnotherapist afterwards.

Season 5 was like one huge therapy session for Dylan. He was still suffering from Suzanne and Kevin's betrayal, had almost died due to a drug overdose, and was searching desperately for guidance with the rest of his life.

The only people still in his life directly who really knew him and meant something, were Brandon and Kelly. It kind of says it all. In fact, he says this in 5x02, when Brandon tries to tell him he's dating Kelly but backs off because Dylan is heavily drinking,

I think Dylan's offer to Kelly was more of a last-ditch attempt to re-live something that was easily accessible to him. The sad thing was that he proved he was willing to destroy his closest ever friendship (with Brandon) in order to get there. I honestly think Dylan was acting on impulse rather than any type of rational thought.

I honestly think his introduction to Toni changes everything for him and makes him aware of how naive he was in trying to get back together with Kelly. With Toni, he got to live a free life. He didn't have to be reminded of his troubles all the time. If she had lived, I'm sure they would have lived happily together.

For sure -- the writers did what they did in 'Hello Life, Goodbye Beverly Hills' for the sake of adding drama to the already existing drama of their good friend Andrea leaving town.

Kelly should have done a U turn and chose Alison instead - that will shock both Brandon and Dylan

Gwen and Rachel, both of you made some very valid points.

That therapy Dylan had was a hypnotic wet dream

^ I loved how Jason played those scenes in the Season 5 finale when David tells Brandon he saw Kelly with Allison and then when he's drunk with Steve, "oh wait that's right, you don't like guys anymoreee" Poor guy was so wasted and broken

Hm, for me it was not his "poor guy" moment, but his ugly and unnecessary homophobic moment.

The moments when I felt bad for him and totally took his side were when he was telling counsellor Arnold about Kelly and how hard it is to watch her self-destruction if you love her. He totally convinced me, and I guess I appreciate it more because Brandon is not a guy who flaunts his emotions around just like that.

An another moment when I felt for him was when Kelly gave him back the ring saying she cannot accept it and he nodded heavily, tossed it in the air frowning, and was ready to leave. He did not take it lightly emotionally, but he came to terms with it not wanting to show his emotions much. I was like, "Brandon, doooon't!" And it comes from somebody who's not a fan of Kelly, Brandon, or Kelly/Brandon.

I don't think it was meant to be taken that way He was drunk and full of self-pity and obviously trying to hurt her in an attempt to hide his hurt.

It wasn't anything compared to Steve's behavior in that Season 4 episode where he was so obviously uncomfortable with being in a gay bar and tells Artie about that other guy being gay just to deflect the rumors himself.

Yeah I agree with both of these I loved how Brandon went above and beyond to save Kelly from the evil Professor, and hated how Dylan was basically trying to do a 180 and say "he's not actually that bad" like WOW

That moment when Brandon tries to leave when he thinks Kelly is gonna choose Dylan You can feel Brandon swallow that hurt, and to know that he might lose her to his best friend, that's just

I think that Brandon was being such a jerk with those comments but I do understand that he was really hurting inside and those comments probably just came out of his mouth...it happens...I know I've said some stuff to people who have hurt me.

Nevertheless, it was not right and I'm glad he apologized to Kelly in the end. After he did apologized, he called Kelly out about how he thought that she felt the same way about him when that they were together and (to me) implied that even if Dylan were to offer her the world, he would expect her to say no. To me, that was the sober Brandon talking and I agree with him on those comments. I know if I was in a relationship, I would expect my boyfriend to choose me over an ex.
