I noticed that at the beginning of senior year when Kelly was obviously depressed Brenda was the only one who noticed, asked her about it and was willing to do something. David knew what it was about since he witnessed it in the summer, and Dylan knew, of course, and he was flattered it was all about him. Donna was clueless, except that she made a rightful remark that Kelly is pissed that for the first time Donna has a boyfriend and she does not. Brandon, Steve and Andrea did not notice or care. Brenda asked her about reasons for her sadness in this A Song of Myself scene and concluded it must be because she did not have a boyfriend, and she openly confronted about reasons for her grumpiness in Highwire when Kelly was bitching about David. Kelly said it was because she felt lost while everyone had a part or something and it was true, actually. Everyone except her knew where they stood in life, in a way. Brenda and Donna had boyfriends and she felt behind and lonely. Everyone was making college plans while she was out of energy (and frankly, she never expressed interest in anything that was not looks and fashion). She seemed genuinely relieved somebody finally asked her about it and invited Brenda to hang out, and Brenda was not able because of Dylan, but invited her to join them. Then Kelly got moody again, saying she would feel like the third wheel. But it reminded me of Mexican Standoff scene when Kelly invited her to hang out but Brenda was travelling with Dylan. Kelly showed understanding, but she was obviously nervous and lonely already at the end of S2.

Good insight. While I think Kelly may be disappointed with Brenda choosing Dylan over her in the Mexican Standoff episode, I think it's expected that Brenda was going to choose Dylan over her.

She was lonely and soon wanted to be with Jake to ease her loneliness.

I never understood what they meant by Kelly's problem areas. Did they want to say she had some fat? In certain parts of her body?

I don't really know. The employee there may just assume that about Kelly because she's judging her and telling her that she has a problem when there isn't one. Or she tells that to every customer.

By not specifying what exactly is the problem, she's letting Kelly think about it first in order to get her super worried. If so, that's mean.

Nah, I'm sure that was what they usually say to the customers. Why would she want to make Kelly feel bad? And I'm sure that had to do something with psychical problems, not psychological. It was a spa, not psychotherapy.
