Hmmm... Sometimes I have to draw a line between what I want to believe, and what's actually true.

I like the idea of Brandon being in love with Kelly way back in S1. It's romantic when opposites attract (at least sometimes), and she was quite different from him then. A part of me still wishes that the writers had actually explored this story.

However, I'm not so sure he actually was in love with her then, because I'm not certain he knew her well enough.

If they'd actually gotten married, it would've been great to hear Brandon declare at the altar that he'd always loved Kelly. And vice versa.

I love the S4 moments, they were awesome. Even I was surprised about Kelly's reaction when Brandon told her about his affair with Lucinda.
James, I think he always had a soft spot for Kelly from the beginning and yes they didn't hung out a lot especially in S2 and S3. I think Brandon's rejection in Spring Dance made Kelly very hesitant to asking him out again

That square dance scene is where Kelly was possibly the most beautiful to me Her outfit was so simple, yet she was so beautiful. Plain white shirt and a skirt. And I usually don't like her hair in a tail, but here I did not mind.

I agree that he always had affection for Kelly. Looking back, I do wonder why the producers decided not to pair them up in S1, seeing as it might have helped ratings at the time, just like D/B.

Actually, the producers always made fans wait too long for B/K, whether it was the build-up to S4, or the reunion in S7. But at least it did happen.

According to Darren Star, BK was the backup couple and they would only put them together if they feel like they're running out of stories for the other couples (or lack thereof)

James, it would be good if BK were paired up in S1 but as Rachel rightly pointed out that BK was a back up plan if all things fail. I am sure BK would be a couple at some point on the show - maybe around S6 if Shannen was still on the show. They basically had no choice but to pair BK at the end of S4 as Shannen left and losing her means losing all her fans as well as a large chunk of Brenda-Dylan fanbase so they had to pull the plug and hopefully retain some BD fans and ship BK, which I know that most BD fans do like BK. I mean they could have continued with DK in S5 if they wanted to, which I think would be a better idea and allow Brandon go with Emily for a bit before things develop between BK towards the end of S5

Personally, I wouldn't have ever wanted Brandon with her.

As for B/K being a 'back-up plan,' that seems like a waste of time, which it was. A part of me did appreciate the anticipation, but it could've happened sooner both times.

Still, I'll always remember that nice promo just before the S4 finale, letting fans know it was finally going to happen.

I remembered the promo in S4 when I first watched it - I actually hated the BK hook up originally because I was fuming that Brandon-Andrea never hooked up and I actually despised Kelly and since Brandon was my fav character, I never liked the idea one bit of BK hooking up BUT as years went by I grew to really like them.

I've always loved Emily and Brandon together - it was crazy and obsessive.

I agree that the fans waited far too long to get BK together on both occasions

What I like is that they had this quiet fan following prior to S4. It's like the relationship was just meant to happen.
