I'm not counting Emma because she wasn't a girlfriend. Plus, I will never, ever find that nonsense believable.

His worst for me (and I'm sorry if I offend anybody) is a three-way tie between Emily, Susan, and Tracy. I just don't buy the idea of Brandon being infatuated with a trouble-making drug user, a snarky person, or a just plain boring and irritating girl.

I think his best relationships were with Kelly and Nikki, for the touching, character-developing reasons I outlined eariler.

But yes I can understand why many don't like Emily and Brandon love story. I would like to point out Emily appearing in S5 knowing Brandon was dating Kelly after he told her in the Peach Pit that she still allowed things to happen or didn't stop Brandon from kissing her - that was appalling. I liked him with Susan but that was just like Brandon-Andrea over again. Tracy was annoying. I'm OK with Nikki.

Kelly was actually right for Brandon so long as she doesn't get drifted away with something or someone

The writers had some zany ideas when it came to his love life in S1. I just couldn't see he and Andrea as anything but friends. Similarly, I couldn't see him viewing Kelly as a "sister" that soon (or ever).

But on that note, it was clear from the beginning that Kelly's heart belonged to Brandon. At the end of the season, she didn't want anyone but him. I'm pretty sure that the creators were always open to the idea of Kelly and Brandon together. And then it finally happened.

James, I was a huge Brandon-Andrea fan but I could see in the long run that they would be better as good friends than lovers. I always thought Kelly wanted Brandon the most and that was so apparent and evident in S1 like you mentioned. Brandon's sister comment was just silly on his part - he had the hots for her as well but tried to play it down

The writers weren't ready to explore K/B in Season 1, and came up with the "sister" thing. It's just a question of why they weren't ready to pair them up then. If they really planned on developing Kelly's character first, like Darren suggested, then I commend them. Still, opposites make for fun couples sometimes.

I think it would have been much more fun getting BK paired up early - they were pretty much opposites at that time

I think the physical attraction was there in S1 but since Brandon was thinking if the consequences should they break up, he backed away.

Brandon was being cautious where Kelly just simply wanted him but it was so obvious that Brandon was attracted to Kelly from the very beginning

If she wasn't friends with Brenda or had dated Steve, I think Brandon would've gone for it.

Brandon definitely would have made a move on her. He just had to control himself due to Steve and Brenda. He did say to Kelly at the Spring Dance that if they were perfect strangers he would be in love with her
