I too loved the ending of S4 for them

Especially the scenes where they play with Erica at the fair. You just see that immediate bond between the girls that was missing between Erica and Kelly.

It also explains her line, "I still think you should be with Brenda"

I feel as if the writer of that episode had been listening intently to the frustrated audience. That line was just very... Inclusive of fan feelings.

I do feel that the whole best friends falling out over a guy was WAY too overrated at the time, and if it aired now, the reception to this plot would be much more negative.

Dylan made a fool out of Brenda, I feel. Plus, the soulmates addition just added this backstory out of nowhere which took something away from how special he and Brenda had been up until that point

And you're right, it's best not to dwell on it because just typing all that made me realize how angry it still makes me

I guess the show wanted to create drama to pull in viewers with the triangle but in my opinion it damaged the whole concept of the show and the greatness of this iconic couple that many loved.
