Totally agree. But by then the creative team was gone (left after 7) so not surprised that it wasn't true to how the friend group would act, unfortunately :/

Dylan's best scenes in season 5 were with Valerie and Andrea.

As much as I hated what Dylan did to Brenda with Kelly in season 3, I did find it clever how they used that as a catalyst for him being the one for Andrea to trust when she was having trouble dealing with her own affair in season 5. He wasn't a hypocrite and didn't judge her, instead drawing upon his own experience to offer any advice he felt was worthwhile.

I'm intrigued by this, do you mean bc he couldn't talk to Brenda at the time, he could more likely open up to Andrea?

Yes, in many ways

I basically meant that Andrea was having marriage problems and had cheated on her partner, which is an areas Dylan had some kind of experience in by being in the middle of Brenda and Kelly for so long and so I think his friendship with Andrea in that part of season five allowed him to recognize where he'd gone wrong and that love/lust isn't an excuse for being irresponsible with people's feelings.

I think the Dylan and Andrea friendship was under valued. I guess they didn't have much scenes together

I would've loved to have seen more of them together. There wasn't really any just them storylines or scenes.

Ah, I see. You're right, that's very perceptive of you! I kinda picked up on him learning that when watching that arc not too long ago. Maybe that also plays into how he was ready to move on with Toni in Season 6.

It definitely did you can tell when he's with Toni that the time he shared talking to Andrea about struggling marriages made him determined to not screw up with Toni.

Gosh, I wish Gabby and Luke had had more scenes together alone. I always loved how she kept quiet in season 3 about the book he was writing.

I think Dylan and Andrea would be an interesting friendship if they had more scenes together
