I came to think that Walsh parents held almost impossible standards and expectations from their kids when it comes to emotional maturity. Brenda and Brandon were just the teens, and they often expected them to have posture and attitudes of 30-year olds, or I don't know, saints. When Brenda was angry at Dylan and Kelly, they just expected her to get it over with. They were super nice to Dylan meanwhile and concerned for his good. They would even have Kelly's birthday party in their house. When it comes to suspension of emotions while acting, their expectations from kids were completely unrealistic. No wonder Brandon turned into emotionally most stunted male on the show with all that pressure to satisfy such requirements, and Brenda had so many problems fighting them.

I think mainly the reason is that Jim was happy that Dylan chose Kelly.

When I rewatched It's Only a Test, I had to laugh at how overprotective Cindy was. That was super realistic. That is exactly how my mom would behave. Taking Brenda from the class, not wanting to leave the room although doctor wanted to talk to Brenda in private, answering the phone for results of the test although she promised she would let Bernda do it.

Btw, did Felice and Dr. Martin ever get a divorce? I remember they wanted to do it after she cheated on him, but then I think they were just together afterwards. Was it explained what happened?

I think my mom would have been protective in that situation, but might have not been as overprotective. Although I am not sure.

I am not sure about the Martins, that is a good question though.

Doc Martin was a real gentleman, I actually liked him but Felice? Oh dear! However, the actress who plays her does a great job portraying her snobby high society character

Both great characters. Yeah, I don't think the Martins got divorced.

I don't know, I found the Walshes to be somewhat supportive during the triangle. Jim holding Brenda while she cries on his shoulder, Cindy telling some story I think about a falling out she had with her friend long ago. Surely, she wouldn't seek to do anything Brenda was uncomfortable with. I think they just saw the bigger, more long-term picture - that the girls would want to be friends again, they're young, life is long, etc (and maybe they didn't have all the details, like about the summer, so thought things were more fixable). But I do agree with Rachel that there may have been a twinge of relief from Jim that Dylan picked Kelly , a selfish relief.

I'm glad they worked things out. I always prefer Dr. Martin over Felice.
