valerie stares at him.
she walks backward and holds her hand out to him and pulls him into a hug.

v: just tell her what we talked about- all the things I didn’t get to tell my dad.

v: i don’t know. let the doctors worry about that. you just worry about her heart, not her head.
d: val, thanks a lot for everything. i don’t know what i would’ve done tonight if you hadn’t come dragged me out of the house.
v: well, you’re a crazy person david. takes one to know one.
she kisses him on the cheek.

v: no, it’s…it’s not. it’s…my father. when i was a kid he uh- i was sexually abused david.
d: i didn’t know.
v: yeah, that’s what she said when i told her. well, you knew i was damaged. turns out i’m completely broken.
d: how old were you?
v: eleven. i became really quiet. Withdrawn. Instead of asking me what was wrong, my mom decides to invite half the school over for my twelfth birthday party. my dad buys me this jacket. black mink. we didn’t have that kind of money. i thought everybody knew.
d: that was guilt talking, val. it was his fault. it wasn’t yours.
v: my thirteenth birthday- there was this huge blizzard. my dad was in Chicago and he was stuck there because the airport was closed. the snow was piled up so high outside our house that no one could get in or out. it was the first time in a long time i felt safe. so my mom and i decide to bake a cake. it was chocolate with vanilla frosting. nothing ever tasted so good.

they fall back onto the bed and begin to make love.

I forgot whether Brian and Tiffani were still dating in S6 when David/Val were together but I think they definitely add some of their personal experiences in David/Val.
