Rebecca and Justin ♥ Tragic Love

Justin: I mean, what if we had meant. What if we had...
Rebecca: Ah, the great tragedy of it all.

What is tragic love? Well, you take one hardy scoop of Justin Walker and add
a pinch or two of Rebecca Harper... throw in some stale cereal and you've got
a recipe for tragedy. Young and beautiful, the two bonded over circumstances
beyond their control. Serendipity in a sense. Something that started out as a
hurtful accident grew to be a sturdy friendship that will last through out time.
Whether or not it grows to be more is undecided. But, if the stars that Justin
and Rebecca gazed up at during their first meeting have anything to do with it,
love just might be in their future.

Rebecca: If you're expecting tears from me you can forget it.
Justin: I'm not expecting anything. I just wanted to meet you.

Rebecca Harper grew up in an empty home, raised only by her
single mother Holy. Artistic and curious, 'Becca' was always
looking for something new to try. Always searching. Her search
lead her into trouble more than once growing up. Incidence with
a married teacher forced her to mature faster than she should
have. Rebecca also spent her childhood with out a male influence.
She had been told that her father never knew about her. But,
when she returns home from school, Rebecca learns something
entirely different. Her mother Holly had a 20 year affair with a
married man. Rebecca's father. Now she is thrown in with the
crazy Walker family to try and get to know them. There have
been numerous bumps along the way but, Rebecca is strong
and resilient. She'll pull through.

Justin Walker is the baby of the family. He is the youngest of
five and has grown up in a crazy environment. This alone has
caused him to act out in the past with partying, drugs and alcohol
dependency. But, Justin is a true Walker. He always gets back
up when he's down. Probing just that Justin enrolled in drug
rehab after a terrifying experience where he almost ODed. Justin
is also a war vet. He served as a medic in Iraqi. His time there
dramatically changed his life and forced him to grow up. No matter
what happens, Justin is a survivor.

Rebecca: What are you doing tonight Jay?
Justin: Wow, are we up to nicknames already?
I don't know R, what are you doing?

The story? Well, Justin and Rebecca discovered that they were
half siblings. Creepy? Sure. But, just wait. See, Rebecca's mother
and Justin's father had an affair. This of course resulted in
Rebecca. Upon hearing this news Justin was the only Walker to
take into consideration how Rebecca may feel. He took the
initiative and went to meet his new 'sister'. It was then that we
as the audience first saw the incredible chemistry between the
characters portrayers, Dave and Emily. As they grew to know one
another the two became the best of friends. They shared secrets
and helped each other through hard times. Rebecca confided in
Justin when she kissed a married man. And Justin confided in
Rebecca when he returned from the war injured. She was the only
one to notice that Justin had a problem with his pills. And Justin
was the only one who stood up for Rebecca through everything.
Jealous feelings and hints that Rebecca may not be a Walker
after all have been popping up lately. Are these two really related?
Or is that spark something a little more real?

Rebecca: I think we played you in football.
Justin: I didn't play football.
Rebecca: Ugh, that's good. I hate football.

Reasons to look past the standards...
Because siblings? I don't buy it.
Because he's hot and she's beautiful. Yeah, sometime's it's okay to be superficial.
Because one word. Chemistry.
Because Dave thinks that Emily is a great addition to the cast.
Because Dave and Emily both love hockey!
Because Rebecca is complicated and Justin? Yeah, him too.
Because he was the first one to give her a chance.
Because she's tall but, he's taller.
Because Rebecca is the new black sheep in town.
Because he didn't expect anything from her.
Because they went on a romantic, uh I mean platonic, walk together.
Because he never played football... which she hates.
Because they have mutual friends.
Because had they met in high school? Hmmm.
Because he just wanted to meet her.
Because "I'm here, I'm real, you can even touch me."
Because they have nicknames for each other. R and Jay!
Because she saved him from the stale cereal.
Because they have similar senses of humor.
Because "The great tragedy of it all."
Because above all else, they are friends.
Because she didn't judge him from being a recovering addict.
Because the family dinner was weird. But, Justin had Rebecca's back.
Because Justin asked the Walkers to give her a chance.
Because Rebecca can hold her own at family dinners. I dare Justin to find another girl who could do that.
Because I'm with Kevin, I want a DNA test! Pronto!
Because Justin said Rebecca was hot.
Because his mouth may have said he felt nothing but, his eyes told a different story.
Because they went to a party together.
Because he wanted to watch a movie, just the two of them.
Because he was worried about her when she was wasted at the party.
Because Justin punched a guy for her. And, it was hot.
Because they're both flawed and they'll admit it.
Because after the infamous 'kiss' with Joe, Rebecca went to Justin.
Because Justin could tell that something was wrong.
Because in the end she told Justin everything.
Because Justin stood by her side, even when it was hard.
Because Justin is the only Walker that Rebecca is really herself with.
Because they hang out constantly.
Because Rebecca was the ONLY one who Justin told about leaving.
Because they said they would miss each other.
Because she didn't want to confront Sarah with out him.
Because Rebecca thinks that Justin is the heart of the family.
Because Rebecca wrote to Justin while he was away, and sent him packages.
Because she always refers to the Walkers as "his" family.
Because his own mother asked for her advice on his clothes.
Because she was ecstatic to learn that Justin was coming home.
Because Nora trusted Rebecca to take care of Justin while she was away.
Because they went out to lunch and she told him about her summer.
Because she was there for him when he collapsed.
Because Nora thought that Rebecca could get through to him about the pills.
Because they snuck Halloween candy together.
Because Rebecca is the first person Justin tells anything to.
Because he gossiped with her about Kitty's pregnancy.
Because they watch Soaps together.
Because he wanted to go out with her.
Because she was SO jealous of Lena.
Because she was the one to realize that he was hooked on pills again.
Because they had a huge fight and it hurt them both.
Because she had to moved out to get away from him.
Because after she left he realized that he DID need her.
Because he reamed her out the worst during the intervention. You only hurt the ones you love.
Because he knew he need to apologize to her.
Because Rebecca is SO important to Justin. He said so himself.
Because she forgave him.
Because Greg Berlanti said it was a mistake to make them siblings
Because they go shopping together!
Because they ate left over Birthday cake together.
Because Justin told Rebecca about her mom and David, right away.
Because he was there for her when she was afraid (DNA test).
Because they both questioned whether or not they were related.
Because they have an amazing connection.
Because "You can't get rid of me that easy".
Because Justin kept her secret from the rest of the family.
Because "It's different with Rebecca".
Because he was SO checking her out at the charity event.
Because he thought she looked nice.
Because she couldn't tell if he was happy of sad that she was 'still a Walker'.
Because he wanted to teach her how to surf.
Because there is so much unnessisary touching.
Because one way or another Rebecca will become a Walker.
Because no matter what happens... they have each other.

J: I'm kind of used to being the bad influence.
R: There's a new black sheep in town Jay, get used to it.
J: Okay we're going to have to lose the whole 'Jay' thing like... yesterday.

Hey guys!

We finally made it to thread #2, something tells me that now our threads will be going much faster.

I think that after the finale on Sunday we should "update" our OP. Maybe add new quotes, caps, a fanfic section, and I believe I found a few more videos on youtube.

What do you guys think?

Hi! I'd love to be added to the shipper list. I've watched the show since the series premiere and think the show is great! I have always felt that there was something special between Justin and Rebecca since their first scene together. Dave and Emily's chemistry is impossible to miss. I'm looking forward to see where things go between them now.

Question: They have not jumped the shark with the Rebecca-Justin storyline on Brothers & Sisters. Personally, I like their pairing, as putting them with other people just makes their relationship awkward. The story line is sensational, but the talent and grace of the actors ground it for me. This is not Gizzie redux, mostly because they had no sexual chemistry, but Justin and Rebecca do. Do you think Ken Olin will come back now that the secret is out? Do you think they are actually going to pair up Justin and Rebecca, or is it just going to be a strained-friendship storyline? — Katie S.

Matt Roush: Still a lot of mail coming in on this polarizing topic, much of it less negative in nature after last week's episode, which most would have to admit was pretty terrific even for those who find the Rebecca-Justin storyline bothersome. Which again is why I detest the whole "jump the shark" game. This show is proving that one problematic storyline doesn't ruin an entire series, and while I think the burgeoning Rebecca-Justin relationship is "sensational" in mostly wrong ways, it is more than compensated by recent developments in the Kevin-Scotty relationship, Saul's wrenching coming-out scene, and the personal dynamics between Sarah, Tommy, Saul, Nora, Holly, etc., where the rescue of the Ojai business was concerned. This is still first-rate entertainment, and Emily VanCamp's performance tends to elevate the material, even when it's as ridiculous as Justin's hissy fit upon discovering she'd lied. I've seen this Sunday's season finale, and it's a winner, just a lovely hour of TV, regardless of any ambivalence I and others might have about the whole Justin-Rebecca thing. To the show's credit, it is confronting the awkwardness head-on, and by the end of the episode

[Spoiler Alert], there's another bombshell that's going to knock the family and the show for yet another loop. To Katie's point about the actors having more chemistry than George and Izzie on Grey's Anatomy: That's a given. I'll still probably never agree with how this all played out, but Emily is a marvel in every single encounter: with Nora, Sarah, even Justin. More on this, I'm sure, after everyone has digested the finale, which I recommend very highly.

Well for Matt this is alot less negative then what he said last week. Still the odd comment, but at least he is giving Emily props for her amazing performance in the past couple of eps, and by the sounds of it, the finale too! I'm glad he touched apon the fact that the feedback has been much less negative! It's like what Micheal Ausiello said! People think we're out numbered but we're not. It's just because the negative opinions shout louder. Even he, who clearly does not like them thinks the finale is awesome, which has got me even more excited! And even he can't deny their chemistry! I'm alot happier with what he said this week then last week, and this has done nothing but make me want to see the finale more! Thanks so much for posting!
