The Proposal

Kitty: What is all this about new beginnings?
Robert: I'm just not going to run from my past anymore. It's like you said.
My first inclination may not have been bravery, but what I did afterwards was.
Kitty: I said that? That was good.
Robert: You took a guy who was doubting the strength of his leadership and
reminded him why he's running for president. And got him to embrace his past.
Kitty: This is very disconcerting talking like this in the first person.
Robert: My point is that these last few months I have been the best man that
I've ever been, and you're the reason why. When you proposed to me, I should
have jumped at the chance and said yes before you ever changed your mind.
Kitty: That wasn't exactly my best moment, but you can still say yes.
Robert: No. No, I can't. I can't accept your proposal... until you accept mine.

The Vows

Robert: Kitty, I ask you to marry me. To say I love you seems inadequate,
because I cannot imagine my life without you. Because when I’m cynical,
you give me hope. In times where I felt I was losing my way, you’ve been
my guidepost. I love you more with each passing day, and so I give you
my hand, my heart, and my love.

Kitty: Robert, I don’t even know where to start, because you are so many
things to me. You’re this brilliant, poised diplomat. And then you’re this really
crazy romantic that just takes my breath away. And when you’re tired and when
you’re stressed, you get really grumpy, but then I can fit your head on my shoulder
at night, and I know you’re asleep, you’re so peaceful and you’re so vulnerable.
I love all those parts so much that I want to have you as my partner for the
rest of my life. Sick, healthy, rich, poor, as long as I’m with you, I will be complete.
And that’s it. Oh, one more thing, Robert. Will you be my husband?

And if you say it's because you work for me or you're in a man cleanse or 'cause
I'm recently divorced or whatever other excuse you're gonna come up with, then
I'm here to tell you, you are about to be out-argued. Because while you were
down there dining, I was coming up with a list of counterpoints...
Kitty: Senator. You are eying a run for the US presidency. You just can't afford
any distractions right now.
Robert: In a debate, I get a rebuttal
Kitty: Ok. Ok, what? What could you possibly say that... ?
[He kisses her]
Kitty: Ok. Ok, well, you make a good point.
Robert: And furthermore...
[He kisses her again]

Kitty: I’ve been grieving for a father I don’t even know. And I was just starting to get all happy.
Robert: I wouldn’t let this destroy that. You hold on to what’s good. What makes you happy?
Kitty: You make me happy.

So I'm freaking out and watching the results come in for Super Tuesday, and I was thinking that if McCallister was the Republican candidate and Hilary Clinton was the Democratic candidate in the general I wouldn't hesitate to vote for Robert. Which says a lot because I'm an insanely liberal Democrat. I love Robert (and hate Clinton but that's besides the point.)

I'm watching all the results coming in too. I'd so be a McCallister supporter if he was running and if I was Republican, but in real life he's not and I'm not.

He's a much more appealing candidate then most in real life.

On that topic, how far into the race does everyone think the show will go? Will Robert end up with the Republican nomination? If there wasn't a strike, how would Robert have done in todays primaries?

I really can't see the show changing the dynamic so much for him to actually be elected. I can't see Kitty and Robert living in the White House and still coming to Walker family dinners

But, I wonder if he'll still be in the race come November in S3
