Looking for more actors..

Young First Nations actor sought for Leonardo DiCaprio western, The Revenant
Quote:
Producers of the big-budget Leonardo DiCaprio western The Revenant are looking for a First Nations teen for a speaking role in the film, which begins shooting in the Calgary area on Sept. 29.

DiCaprio, 39, will be returning to the Calgary area for the shoot, which is expected to last at least five months. He filmed the sci-fi epic Inception here in 2010.

As is the norm for a Hollywood production, few details are being released about the shoot. A casting call for extras held earlier this month was “very successful,” says Alyson Lockwood of Calgary's Classic Casting.

But as the production draws nearer, the casting calls are getting more specific.

Producers are hoping to draw First Nations teenagers to the Blackfoot Inn on Friday to audition, between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m., for a role in the film. The boy should be between 13 and 18 years old and thin. No acting experience is necessary.

“It’s a chance for him to come out and experience being on set and if he has the right look and some acting ability than there are all kinds of possibilities,” says Lockwood.

The Revenant will be directed by Mexican filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, best known for dramas such as 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful. Actors Tom Hardy, Will Poulter and Domhnall Gleeson will co-star. Based on a novel by Michael Punke, the film “centres on the 1820s’ story of a frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who set out on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after a bear mauling,” according to Internet Movie Database. Recent photographs of DiCaprio show the actor looking suitably scruffy for the role, with a shaggy beard and long hair.

Auditions will be held Friday between 3 and 7 p.m. at the Blackfoot Inn. For more information e-mail filmcasting@shaw.ca

BTW, this is the book.. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...om_search=true
Quote:
Already sold to Warner Bros. for a major motion picture, this riveting novel of the frontier evokes such classics as Jack London's "To Build a Fire" and A. B. Guthrie's The Big Sky. Michael Punke's The Revenant tells a story of nearly unimaginable human endurance over 3,000 miles of uncharted American wilderness, spanning what is today the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Based on the real life of fur trapper Hugh Glass, The Revenant recounts the toll of envy and betrayal, and the power of obsession and vengeance. Punke's novel opens in 1823, when thirty-six-year-old Hugh Glass joins the Rocky Mountain Fur Co. on a venture into perilous, unexplored territory. After being savagely mauled by a grizzly bear, his nearly lifeless body is left in the care of two volunteers from the company—John Fitzgerald, a ruthless mercenary, and young Jim Bridger, the future "King of the Mountain Men." When Indians approach their camp, Fitzgerald and Bridger abandon Glass. Worse yet, they rob the wounded man of his weapons and tools—the very things that might have given him a chance on his own. Deserted, defenseless, and furious, Glass vows his survival. And his revenge.
