Leonardo DiCaprio takes singing lessons to play Frank Sinatra | The Sun |Showbiz|Bizarre|USA

Quote:
LEONARDO DICAPRIO was hot favourite last night to play FRANK SINATRA in a big screen blockbuster about the crooner — IF he can learn to sing.

The Gangs Of New York star has hired a top vocal coach to teach him how to mimic Ol’ Blue Eyes, famed for hits including New York, New York.

Legend ... Frank Sinatra

The 34-year-old actor was said to have high hopes of landing the coveted part — even though his singing was deemed too DUFF for the starring role in Moulin Rouge that went to Scots actor EWAN McGREGOR.

Vocal

Insiders revealed director chum MARTIN SCORSESE has put DiCaprio at the top of his list to play Sinatra.

But Scorsese is insisting the actor does it HIS way — by mastering the Rat Pack legend’s famous tones.

A source confirmed: “Leo has hired a top vocal coach to get him sounding like Sinatra. He is a massive fan of the singer and has always wanted to play him. He would be sick to miss out on the leading role because his singing wasn’t up to scratch.

“He is now in intensive vocal coaching lessons to replicate Sinatra’s distinctive style.”

Scorsese previously directed DiCaprio in the 2002 smash Gangs Of New York — as well as in box office hits The Aviator and The Departed.

The Sinatra film — set to hit screens next year — will focus on how the superstar became embroiled with the Mafia
MTV Movies Blog Martin Scorsese Will Direct ‘Sinatra’ Biopic For Universal

Quote:
MTV Movies Blog Martin Scorsese Will Direct ‘Sinatra’ Biopic For Universal No actors are attached to the film yet, but given the amount of projects they’ve worked on recently, could a guy like Leonardo DiCaprio be towards the top of the list? Starting with the aforementioned “Gangs of New York,” DiCaprio has also appeared in the Scorsese-directed “The Aviator,” “The Departed” and the upcoming “Shutter Island.” Seriously, what’s one more team-up for Scorsese and DiCaprio — especially for a film about one of the most celebrated performers of all time?

Other recent news:

Al Pacino Blinks

Quote:
But Leonardo DiCaprio optioned movie rights to the book years ago, Syriana writer and director Stephen Gaghan signed on to write and direct it, and now it seems that Al Pacino will be taking the starring role....

....Plus, let's talk about that tween appeal! Is it Robert Pattinson? Zac Efron? That other kid from High School Musical?

^ I'm definitely interested in hearing more information on that project.

Hold onto your seats, Rounders fans -- it looks like round two is about to descend. Now, I'm not talking about a sequel, even though we'd all love more screen-time with the poker movie's killer cast, but rather a new gambling feature from Rounders scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Paramount has picked up the writers' latest pitch, and Leonardo DiCaprio (who is also starring in the pair's Beat the Reaper) will grab the lead.

I thought Rounders was so good. I'd love for them to get Edward Norton or John Malkovich to sign up as well And yay for another Beat the Reaper mention. We haven't heard anything about it in over a month I think.
