| Leo Performances I just joined the forum and I am not sure if there is already a thread like this or not. No matter I just wanted to post my pecking order of Leo's best performances from 1-18 with an explanation. 1.The Aviator: He carries the whole film in giving a truly complex and powerful performance. 2.The Beach: Sure it isn't a film that everyone likes (although I do) but Leo gives one of the most underrated performances of recent years taking you on a complete psychological journey through the character. 3. The Basketball Diaries: His first true lead role and he just set the screen ablaze with a sublime performance. 4. The Departed: There is just something really incredible about his performance here. There is just a real honesty in it. 5. Revolutionary Road: There are moments of such raw honesty from him here in a role the likes of which we hadn't seen him tackle before that made this arguably his most mature performance. 6. What's Eating Gilbert Grape: It's the performance which made him and while he has grown beyond it, it is still THAT performance. 7: Catch Me If You Can: A tour-de-force turn as the lovable young conman. Also just fun to see him play a more comedic role. 8. This Boys Life: What a debut. To stand up and to deliver like he did under the circumstances considering who he was playing opposite was nothing short of awesome. 9. Romeo + Juliet: A really great performance with one of his greatest moments on screen when he kills Tybalt. OK so for now due to time constraints I will leave it at that but I will be back to finish it tomorrow. | |||

Romeo + Juliet: A really great performance with one of his greatest moments on screen when he kills Tybalt. 10. Total Eclipse: The lack of an accent hurts it's credibility but otherwise it is a roar and powerful performance. In fact with an accent it would have ranked much higher. 11.Celebrity: Sure it's a small cameo but I think he is brilliant in making fun of his own public image at the time. 12. Blood Diamond: Sure he mastered an accent in this case and he does deliver a fantastic performance as does Jen but it's not there film. Djimon was robbed of the Oscar. 13. Titanic: In many ways it really is a comfortable performance for him but there are some wonderful moments and he was the main reason for it becoming the biggest film of all time. 14. The Quick And The Dead: Sure it isn't a big role but I thought he brought great energy to it and his death scene is a classic. 15. Body Of Lies: Total cruise control performance. Not that he doesn't do it well but he wasn't stretching himself in it. 16. Marvins Room: A wonderful performance in a really fine movie but again it wasn't much of a test of his abilities. 17. Gangs Of New York: Nothing wrong with what he does but he pretty much just watches on as DDL chews the scenery. 18. The Man In The Iron Mask: His weakest performance. Mind you he has his moments but I think it's the one which he would perform better now as a more mature actor. Well they are my thoughts. Was wondering what yours were. Apology for double post situation. | |||

| Hi Leo77, welcome to Fanforum and welcome to the Leo thread. Almost every movie Leo played in had an own thread. His early work and lesser known movies have an own thread too. I would like to ask you to post your thoughts there. Closing this one now. | |||
