The Environmental Awareness Thread #1: Something has to be done

We all know that Leo has been fighting to increase the environmental awareness all around, so I thought that it would be a great idea if we could have our own thread to talk about it, not only about Leo's work but also about the envionment and those issues and you know... You get the deal

I really love what Leo is doing with all of this! And he's inspired me to help fight global warming too. I've been doing and changing lots of things in my home and lifestyle... because of him.

That's fantastic. I admit however that I've done some changes too but wasn't because of Leo actually (I found out about his work much later) but because An Inconvenient Truth (even if he doesn't live like he's learning...)

I remember seeing a poster in National Geographic Kids that my sister subscribes to about this, and I thought that it was really great that he was getting involved like this.

I don't have a scanner, I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure it was in a National Geographic Kids magazine.

If only I got that magazine.

An Inconvient Truth was great too. I love how Leo worked with Al Gore for the 11th Hour. Because Gore seems like knows what he's talking about.

Yeah, Al Gore does seem to know what he's talking about but taking all those private jets as he travels around... doesn't inspire a great deal of credibility.

Btw, does anyone know how the US is about the Kyoto agreement these days? Are they signing it?

I agree, Al Gore doesn't exactly practice what he preaches. I still do respect the fact that he's involved and has certainly brought a lot of attention to the issue.

Leo however is the opposite. I think he pretty much lives they way he's telling people to live. But of course to a certain extent, I don't think anyone can be perfect even at this (he could for example quit smoking ).

I completely admire and respect Leo for being so active in increasing environmental awareness. A change has to be made and it's great that a celebrity of his calibre is doing this, he brings a lot of much needed publicity to the cause. He can be an inspiration to a lot of people.

I'm also trying to do little things to help. I'm concerned about the future of the world and the global warming is a scary thing. But I still feel I need more info on what to do. Therefore I think I'll watch the two mini movies of Leo's, I'm ashamed to admit that I still haven't done that.

Here's a good place to go. We used this in journalism.

An Inconvenient Truth > Take Action

The two little movies are really informative, and Leo's voice is great.

I just wish he could know how much of a difference he is making. I'm sure we aren't the only ones who are getting into this and trying to do things to help, because of him. He really is making a difference. He's doing things himself, and getting many other people to do them too.

Sorry Kelly, don't have one of those.

Oooh. Thanks for the link. I frankly don't think the government is doing enough for global warming here in Australia.

I don't think they are doing enough here in America either. And most of the things on those lists aren't even hard... it's just a matter of getting people to follow them.
