Never mind the full-frontal JPEGs that leaked online last year—Vanessa Hudgens is still very much a Disney girl. On her second solo disc, she lavishes attention on boys, sings about dancing and never acknowledges, explicitly or even implicitly, the horizontal tango. This is teen pop in which any trace of innuendo has been eradicated: There is no genie in the bottle, no hormones straining against the schoolgirl outfit; the most subversive moment is “Sneakernight,” in which Hudgens throws a late-night dance party, bedtimes be damned. Rather than expose too much of herself, she plays dress-up, rifling through pop’s last few seasons. She strikes her poses like any musical-trained shape-shifter, testing out slicked-up R&B belting, crunchy love ballads, sassy old-school rap and Auto-Tuned dance pop. But it’s that handful of R&B tracks that really allows Hudgens to edge out of Disney’s squeaky-clean mold. Her voice was made to rip, and when she lets go just a little, the coyness turns sultry—proof that she might just have a life after high school.

i don't get why the hell all the reviewers somehow love Sneakernight

it's not a bad song, but out of all the songs on the album to download, Sneakernight? awh well, long as people dl it && it moves up on the iTunes charts is all the well for V

yea, i'd be content if Amazed or Identified were the second single

but Hook It Up would be right for summer.. though they're not releasing the second till Fall

WTF is wrong with Hollywood Records.

Do they not trust Vanessa's music and everything to go out there and peruse a larger audience? Are they always gonna cater to the younger disney fans?

those are my 3 favorite tracks

i love how she sings "i got, i got, i got a confession" in Identified

And, agreed. TBH, I was soo disappointed when I first heard that song. But, thankfully, the album is soooo much more!

I think Amazed should be her next single. Especially since Lil' Mama is on the track.

It's probably because Sneakernight isn't that bad of a song. Lyrically - yes but vocally Vanessa is really good. Eventually I think Vanessa can cross over to R&B when given the proper songs.

OMG! I'm so happy with Blender's review. 3 stars is a good start.
They most love her since their the first professional review of Identified.

But WTF @ them saying "Sneakernight" is one of the highlights? Glad they mentioned "Hook It Up".

yea that's true.. i actually think V could do well with a more R&B influenced album

but i flove this one as is!

well ya know.. in spite of Sneakernight just being a bonus track instead of on the actual track listing
