I'm pining for BSG right now...why wouldn't they show this episode over memorial day weekend?

Although it's hard to compare it to previous seasons since it's not really on the same time every year, preliminary indications are pointing that the first seven episodes of the final season of "Battlestar Galactica" are actually pulling in more viewers than the show did last year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the SciFi Channel series is actually showing a 4 percent growth among adults between 18 and 49 compared to the second half of Season 3, considered to be one of advertisers' most desired demographics. That's an average of 1.4 million viewers.

Total viewers are also up to 2.1 million, despite the second half of Season 3 airing on Sunday nights, considered to be largest available television audience for viewers.

This is actually good news for "Battlestar Galactica," which as a serialized drama, is expected to see continued audience erosion, not audience growth. On top of that, some critics have been scratching their heads about the fourth season so far, but it doesn't appear that viewers are doing the same.

Part of the growth could be coming from a current trend in recent weeks where cable audiences have grown 15 percent as many viewers have taken a break from broadcast television post-writers' strike.

There is no "Battlestar Galactica" this weekend because of the American holiday, but the show will be back May 30 at 10 p.m. ET as it gets ready for its final three episodes before the mid-season break. The show is expected to end its run in 2009.

New this morning. Over on scifi.com you can watch full episode of GWCTD. Also they are advertising for 10 min sneak peek 9 - 4 on Fri May 30.

Well, there is the official word that there will be a Caprica movie, but that's not exactly BSG.

I think everyone is tuning in trying to see who the last cylon is!!!

The "Caprica" movie is a pilot though right?

The caprica movie is being made as a stand alone that will double as a pilot. They're hoping that it will be picked up as a series, but they're also making the movie encapsulated enough that it will stand on it's own.

They've not made a decision about the 3 other movies, but they'll have to middle of July before sets are stricken from the end of filming this season (ends in June). After that, they can still make them, but it becomes a lot more expensive.

Speaking of the last cylon, I saw some really good speculation yesterday over who the last cylon is. It was very well reasoned, and I think she certainly would fit the bill.

FOX Lands 'Virtuality' Lead
James D'Arcy will star in the Ronald D. Moore-created sci-fi pilot

James D'Arcy from 'Sherlock'James D'Arcy will play the lead role in FOX's two-hour "Virtuality" pilot, from "Battlestar Galactica" guru Ronald D. Moore.

Peter Berg is directing the sci-fi project, which is really more of a telefilm/backdoor pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Produced by Universal Media Studios and BermanBraun, "Virtuality" focuses on the 12-member crew of Phaeton, a starship that leaves Earth on a 10-year exploratory mission. The ship has been equipped with state-of-the-art virtual reality modules that let the crew escape their constrained surroundings. As one might imagine, when things start going wrong with the virtual reality, there's some not-so-virtual blowback.

The trade paper says that D'Arcy will play the ships psych officer, the man responsible for producing the virtual reality adventures.

In the 2007 development season, D'Arcy starred in FOX's drama pilot "Them," which featured "Battlestar" co-star Tricia Helfer and was produced by "Battlestar" writer-producer David Eick.

D'Arcy's feature credits include "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World," "Exorcist: The Beginning" and "An American Haunting," plus a wide range of British television projects.
