The trailer gave me chills, especially with the cylon angle to it.

I love it...it's perfect. It builds tension for something that's possibly a year away. Just great.

Thanks for the links Jerry.

Not sure what to make of the trailer, kind of confusing to me

I think sci-fi can't go wrong with making Caprica a series, but I'm not sure if it's something suited for the sci-fi network. I mean this is a drama, no action in it...NBC is struggling right now, why not tone it down a bit and have it go main stream on NBC? Just my opinion on the matter of course.

Meanwhile...I've checked the lineup for DRAGON CON in ATL and BSG has the best panel.

Scheduled to appear are: Katie, Jamie, James, Tahmoh, James Olmos, Aaron Douglas, and (something...oh frak Jerry knows...she plays Racetrack!)

Reports from Comic-Con's BSG panel here and here, mostly non-spoilery.

Leah Cairns, slacker. You would forget my lady.

That's a big panel, frakkin' eh.

I still don't think that Caprica would survive on Primetime. Best days for Galactica get a 1.6, or 2 million viewers. Last year, I can tell you of at least 3 shows that didn't make it past 3 episodes because they only averaged 4 million veiwers.

Jerry...Caprica is more of a "family" show if you will, right? I mean Galactica always carried the sci-fi starfighter vs invaders type mystique which was unfair but to those unfamiliar with it, you see? I don't know...I'm just saying NBC/Universal owns sci-fi channel, etc they could choose to have Caprica on their network on NBC and it would probably do well in the right night and timeslot. If it gets a 5.0 consistantly that isn't bad. I think it could do that, given the right night/time and marketing. I also don't know if Ron Moore cares if more people watch his shows, maybe he doesn't? Maybe he likes being on Sci-Fi and staying under the radar so to speak.

Yeah, that's her name. Want me to say that a Sith Lord in training says "hello"?

I hope nobody cancels, it would be an excellent panel.

I see what you're saying, however genre shows rarely ever do well in prime-time, and even a 5.0 might not make it. Journeyman pulled 6's and didn't make it. I'd rather it stay on SciFi and run a few more seasons.

Yeah, don't make me pay you a visit...I have agents in your area.

ComicCon’s Entire Hour-Long GALACTICA Panel Is Online Too! -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

News from David Eick

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Executive Producer David Eick told fans at San Diego Comic-Con that the second half of the fourth and final season of the series will have a number of extra-long, jampacked episodes as it works toward the climactic finale. In a subsequent interview, Eick said that producers have been "able to convince the network to let us air ... long episodes--[to] take single episodes and make them double episodes, ... [and to take] double episodes and make them quadruple episodes." Eick added: "Our episodes are always ... long, and we're constantly getting into the editing room with 10, 15, sometimes 20 minutes of material that you can't get into an episode." With just a half-season remaining, Eick said, "the story has become so critical in order to realize the arc of the series that we can't just cut stuff out and save it for later or push it 'til next year, the stuff we're used to doing. It's all got to be there."
Eick and the cast members refused to divulge any details about the final episodes, other than to express excitement over the upcoming storylines and to praise the finale, written by executive producer Ronald D. Moore, which they have just finished shooting. "There are so many great episodes in between, but ... the script of the finale, it's poetry, ... it really is," Michael Trucco (Samuel T. Anders) said. Jamie Bamber (Lee "Apollo" Adama) said that the final season, "like all good endings, ... sort of ties [into] the beginning. ... It's like a great piece of music where all the strains and all the melodies that you've had so far come and are referred to in the end. And there is a new beginning as well. ... The same for Lee. It's an ending and a beginning, and it's sublime."
As for bringing the series to a close, Eick said, "We were trying to do something different with science fiction, ... with the space opera; we were trying to kind of blow the wheels off the sort of Star Trek aesthetic, and I think on that front we feel very accomplished. ... It's definitely gratifying to feel like we captured some part of the public's imagination and that the show overcame its title and overcame, in some respects, its genre to get the respect it's gotten." BATTLESTAR GALACTICA returns with new episodes in early 2009.

That only makes waiting for S4 second half so much harder!

I'm yet to read when any of the cast have anything negative to say (wonder if they are obligated, etc) but I'll make sure I ask them at drangoncon.

I would imagine that we would hear in September, when all the other NBC stuff is starting to hit, it would generate the fanfare.

We'll probably hear around then what the release date is going to be 2nd TV movie.

If I were to lay odds, I'd put us at a mid-December release date for Season 4.0 on DVD, allowing people to catch up. Either that, or they're going to hold off for an entire season packaged, all 22 episodes.

To be honest, I'm for the entire set deal. However, that would mean fall of 2009, would NBC/Universal be willing to wait that long? You never know.

I'll ask people at DragonCon, maybe they'll know something then?

Battlestar Galactica Will Get Extended Episodes - Today's News: Our Take | TVGuide.com

Personally, I'm not a fan of "super-sized" episodes because in recent years that has meant odd sizes like 75 minutes that play havoc with scheduling and recording. Even 90 minute episodes can mess me up (like last Friday with the season finale of Doctor Who).
