BSG 4x07 - "Guess What's Coming to Dinner" Episode Discussion

All new BSG Friday May 16th, 10/9C
Guess What's Coming to Dinner? Episode 7 of Season 4.

Brief Sci-fi channel summary:
Bitter enemies must put aside their grudges as the Demetrius crew teams up wih the Cylon rebels to destroy a vital enemy target

And a note, that BSG continues with all new episodes in 2 weeks, therefore next friday no new episode. Just a reminder.

OK, What did everyone think?

In my humble opinion, best most energetic episode of the season. It finally feels like it's the last season, storylines are starting to be wrapped, things are going in motion? So much happened tonight.

Definitely, and also nicely with those slow dramatic moments... like poor Felix.

I am actually thrilled that they made Felix an amputee. No, I didn't want them to hurt Felix, but it was the one war storyline they haven't dealt with... a soldier dealing with a physical change from war. This could be really interesting. And I loved the singing... beautiful voice.

So many great moments. Chief clearly unconcerned about being found out. Ha. Anders=crazy. Tigh stopping Adama's command, brilliant. "Bye, bye!" Sharon/Natalie/Hera scene with Chief coming in to get Hera... interesting! Lee showing back up (where have you been), but I am hating his storyline this season. Hi Dee, bye Dee... lack of Dee this season makes me think they're saving her for something...

Loved Roslin calling out Tory. Mwhh. Also, I'm really surprised that Leoben didn't demand Kara be added into the "we get final five" demand. ha.

Fantastic episode, although I cannot believe we have 2 weeks to wait for the next.

Another fun-filled episode.

Didn't like either Lee or Roslin in their opening confrontation but liked how when Lee wasn't so accusing in his attitude he got Roslin to cooperate.

I'm wildly curious about what secret the cylon rebels are keeping from the colonials.

I'm wondering if Leoben was able to get the centurions under control or at least to cooperate. I'm wondering where the baseship jumped to.

It's going to be tough waiting 2 weeks for the next episode.

Great episode

I loved the beginning with Battlestar vs the Base ship, Battlestar going into action stations, oh I've missed that. Looks like maybe Tigh's cylone brain might be kicking in a little considering he said hold fire or maybe not.... I loved the Adama/Tigh scene, seeing the friendship there. Also the Tigh/Adama/Laura/Agathon scene was good, seeing how Tigh was trying to stop everyone from un-boxing Deanna. Looks like you didn't get your wish Tigh.

Laura and Lee round 1 was good because Laura wiped that smirk right off Lee's face. He wanted to know about the visions and she flat out told him, did like that he was lost for words. I liked their 2nd scene though. It sort of harked back to the their scenes of old. Laura taking Lee's advice.

I'm glad that Tory has got kicked out, hoora finally. Now the guilt is maybe finally getting to her. Poor Gaeta, I was hoping that the Doc could work his miracle magic, but alas , although it's could be interesting storyline now in how he's going to deal with this and also with Sam. Did like his singing during the Lee/Laura scene, fitted the background music.

The Opera House visions are back and so glad they are. I did think when are they going to get back to this and was glad we got a little more of the puzzle. I wonder if Athena/Laura will be working together in the future in regards to Hera considering they are both looking for her in the visions.

Athena shot Natalie!, oh my, now all plans are shot to hell, what with the cylons/humans were going to stab each other in the back. I thought it was very intriging that the camera stayed on the shot of Searider Falcon when she spoke to Balter. Some people in the BSG forum think the title is a anagram of something. Maybe it is, maybe not, just though it was an awww and intriging moment.

Oh crickey, they jumped, where have they jumped. Laura where have you gone.

Is Felix the final cylon? Or is it Dee? Why make notice of her and then chief during this whole vision/reality thing that Athena was seeing?

This episode really did make it feel like things are coming to an end. The preview though was the most exciting part of the night. So many images...but the one that took notice to me the most was Tigh beating the crap out of Adama. At least it looked like him..... First they were talking about something the Doctor said about Six... could she be with Tigh's child? What is going on between those two?

Tigh and Baltar have always been my favorite characters... I hope that by the end of the series that people, even those who dislike them will finally open their eyes and see why.

ETA: I wanted to give notice to the fact that Tigh seems to be the guardian or protector of the final five, and with the preview Adama jumping away from the fleet..which at the moment the only reason would seem to save Laura..his love.

That was a wow episode!.

I like that the Opera House visions are back. I was wondering when that would be addressed again.
Had no idea Natalie would be gone so soon. But I totally understand a mother's anger led Athena to do it.

Poor poor Felix What a nice voice.

I am glad Laura mentioned Tory's love affair with Baltar because being her aide I was wondering when the frak Laura would find out and say something.

And were did they jump to at the end!!!!!!!!??????????? I cannot believe we have to wait 2 weeks! Did anyone catch in the preview that Lampkin is back and Lee is being sworn in?

And the deal the fleet and Cylon rebels made and the secret backstabbing ideas...
I love the scene when Natalie was explaining about the final 5 being with the fleet and 3 seeing them the looks Tory and Tigh gave each other out of the corners of their eyes!

I'm new to this board but I just gotta to say are we ever going to find out who the last cylon is? And will Sci Fi stop doing false advertisement with the whole "all will be revealed" thing. Other than that, the episode was great.

Yes, the moments with Felix and his singing weren't nearly as boring to me as last week's "slow dramatic Laura and her cancer patient lady stuff that had me looking at the clock".

I know we all have our "B" rated "favorite pet characters". Mine were always Crashdown and Felix Gaeta. Well things didn't go so well for Crash...and since then Felix has been my favorite background character. I wasn't sure about this whole situation, didn't want to see him dead obviously. I think the fact I have a problem is that he's not a soldier, per say. He's a CIC officer. Although so is Tigh and he lost an eye. Now we'll have a guy with one leg being Galactica's nav. officer when Felix returns.

In the episode where D'Anna first appeared and she was interviewing the crew, what Gaeta said struck me the most..."All he ever wanted was to serve and be an officer at a Battlestar". Much like Karl Agathon, Felix Gaeta is all about devotion to service, to his crew and loyalty. Not once has he ever waivered when given orders from his commanding officers (and he paid the price this last time, following Helo's to jump). So there is something to be said about Felix Gaeta. He's a good man.

Yes, that is a bit of a torture for all of us...especially after..."JUMP"

Agreed, but how long before the quarrum of 12 tries to make Lee President in Laura's absence? I can see that from a mile away

That is a wonder, since we saw 2 centurions walking in their "hanger bay" area and the pilots/marines didn't seem thrilled to have to deal with them. I don't think Leoben had gotten them under "control" yet at that point, as I believe they were setting up to "hold them hostage".

Those were some excellent CGI shots. I hope they get another emmy for visual effects, they deserve it. You just knew Saul was going to have that "order" and then he was going to have to explain it to Bill. At what point will Bill really start to suspect Saul...looks like the next episode will shine more light on that situation.

I had to at Saul's "secret" attempt to destroy it all without unboxing D'Anna so she can reveal who the final five are. Hey, he's trying.

I have to admit, I'm a bit "confused" of trying to make sense of all of those visions that Laura, Sharon, Caprica Six are having. Baltar had somewhat of a vision on KOBOL in S2, but other than that he's not seen them and he's in the visions? Strange anyone?

Also why would Laura be there? What is the significance of Laura being in a vision with 2 cylons, a child and Baltar? Why are Caprica Six and Baltar taking Hera and shutting out Laura and Sharon? Questions, questions and more questions!

I'm not surprised at all Now you have to remember, that cylons can "project" their own reality. When Sharon saw what Hera had drawn, and went after her she saw the opera house...and she knows in the vision that a SIX steals her child. She's an overprotective mother (can you blame her?) and does what she thinks it's best to protect her child. Although I have to admit, didn't she know the difference between Caprica Six (in the jail right now) and Natalie? Their haircolor and makeup are not the same? So that's a bit confusing that she rushed to shoot.

The other thing you have to remember...the resurrection facility isn't destroyed yet. Meaning that Natalie will download to a new body and she'll be back!

As far as stabbing each other in the back. The cylons on the base star won't know that Natalie was shot, until they (if they go there), go to the main resurrection hub facility.

I would say it's definitely not Felix. He didn't sing all along the watchtower, that would have been your hint, instead of the song he was singing during the episode

I'll burn my BSG DVD's resign my modship and stop watching the show before I start liking Baltar on the show. In my eyes, as long as he lives on the show, there is a reason to dislike that character.

Has anyone noticed how "slutty" some of the BSG women can be? I mean they all seem to sleep around, Tori, Kara, Caprica Six, Ellen Tigh and so on.

About the only few that seem to be content in a relationship with ONE man are Sharon and Dee.

Welcome

Ron Moore said we are going to find out who the last cylon is halfway during S4. We are at episode 8...May 30th. So I would say we'd have to wait 2-3 more episodes if he stays true to his word.

OK...a Theory on the Kara Thrace and the "harbinger of death"..."you will lead them all to their deaths". What if the Hybrid is speaking about Kara leading the CYLONS to their deaths, and not the humans? Anyone ever consider that? I never did, until Natalie's speech about "mortality, and how the cylons have to experience the one thing all humans fear the most...death, to be like them?" Thoughts on this anyone?

It is strange.
Small theory.
Sharon is there because she's the mom. Six wants her for her own reasons.
Laura has always been into the scriptures and scriptures say a dying leader will bring them to earth. Hera is the shape of things to come and Laura has been involved in the child's survival since before she was even born (when she wanted to abort her). And then hid her from her parents. So she's has reasons to chase her in the dreams.
Baltar on the other hand has been a man of science and avoided such godly things. He's now only starting to embrace a higher power. But to why he is even in the dream, maybe Six wants him there as a new father figure.
Another question could be why isn't Helo in the dreams? Hera is his daughter too.
Seems like Hera has been sharing the dreams to me. She drew Six and said "Bye" to her mom.

Maybe a simple reason Baltar (and Helo) are not having the dreams is because he is the only man in them.

I think in an overprotective moment she didn't care which Six it was, she just didn't want a threat near her daugher.

What about the men?
Baltar and Lee are the slutty ones.
Anders too when he was with Tory.

I have thought those things and I think it makes the most sense.
Kara is all worried about the worst but it can so be interpeted in different ways.

Steph, good point about Karl, Hera's father not being included in the visions

I'm 100% sure this will be applicable for the cylons, that's who Kara will be leading to their death. Not the colonial refugee fleet!

And I'm not blaming her at all - her visions lead her to believe something bad was going to happen and given Six' history I wouldn't rule out anything either.

Interesting interpretation of her destiny, but it could work.

Don't just blame it on the women.
The men have free will!
There is a such word as "NO". They can walk away before getting "too excited"

If Kara leads the Cylons to their end then I want just one Cylon to survive, Sharon Agathon.
