Battlestar Galactica - BSG 4 Beginners Thread ~ Because not all of us are up to speed!

So, I basically thought about this thread before the board. The idea behind it is for new(er) BSG fans (like myself) that haven't seen everything and kind of want to remain un-spoiled. I'm not a fan of thread rules, but I do have one...which we could all agree on. If you post about a particular episode you watch...make sure to (in bold) type the season and name of the episode...this way we know what to avoid. But, to the current fans...feel free to come in post in our discussion, but remember to not break the third wall and talk about what's currently happening...and follow the one rule. Thanks.

Reason Why You Got Into BSG: I was always curious to watch it when I talked to Subject or Strider...and then Strider was begging me to watch it. And I'm glad he did. I bought S1, watched the mini-series...and the rest is history.
Current Season/Episode of BSG You've Seen Last: Season 1 / A bit slow...I am up to "Flesh & Bones" right now.
First Impression of the Show: I was extremly impressed by the scope of drama and darkness of the bleak situation they had faced against the Cylons. I like dark and twisty drama...my old favorite drama tv show was Six Feet Under.

Favorite Character & Why: I would have to say right now it's Lee (Adama) just because of his relationship with Kara

...his tension with his father...and the fact that he takes charge. Second would be Starbuck...because she's just all-around awesome bad-ass chick...and those are fun to watch.

Reason Why You Got Into BSG: I was up studying in the middle of the night (as we students do!) and flipped through the channels for background noise. Landed on an episode of BSG and got kinda hooked. I think it was the end of series 2. I got sucked into the Sharon/Helo/Hera plot.
Current Season/Episode of BSG You've Seen Last: I think it's the 4th/5th episode of the third series.
First Impression of the Show: Darker than my usual fare without a lot of the humor that lightened Farscape up but at the same time, deeply emotional.
Favorite Character & Why: Sharon/Athena. Its hard to say why - I think I'm just a sucker for the complex female character. I'm also quite fond of Six and Helo.

Reason Why You Got Into BSG: I was interested in checking out the show after I watched a video someone had made in the Lee/kara thread over on the couples board
Current Season/Episode of BSG You've Seen Last: I just finished watching the miniseries and am in season one. Last night I finished the episode Bastille Day.
First Impression of the Show: I really enjoyed the miniseries. It kept me interested and wanting to know what happens next.
Favorite Character & Why: As of right now Lee. I like all the Different relationships he has ( With his father, the president, Kara) and cant wait to see what happens with him in the future.

Current Season/Episode of BSG You've Seen Last:'Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 2' (Season 2, Episode 20)
First Impression of the Show: 'Why in the heck wasn't this on my rader before?' IOW, kick-butt all the way around.
Favorite Character & Why:Pretty much every single character on the series. If I have to pick ONE, though, it's Boomer, because I loved watching her early arc where she didn't realize she was a Cylon.

I just got done today watching "Colonial Day" and "kobols Last Gleaming" part1. I really cant wait to see the second part, I just got to wait for my disc to come.

Reason Why You Got Into BSG: I watched the entire mini-series, and I really liked it. I never watched the series at first, but the critical acclaim I kept hearing drove me to rent it from Netflix and watch every episode.
Current Season/Episode of BSG You've Seen Last: Taking a Break From All Your Worries, season 3
First Impression of the Show: I never watched any of the original show, so I couldn't help but love the miniseries. Even though I loved the mini, I never got the sense that they were planning a series. I just thought that they'd revisit the Galactica in another mini or tv movie. When news of the series came down, I just never found time to watch...a mistake I rectified when the DVD's came out.
Favorite Character & Why: He wasn't at first, but Helo has become my favorite character. His character arc has been so rich and complex, and he has developed into the moral center of the show. He's the one character who always does what he thinks is right, no matter what consequences he may face. I think what solidified his status is the whole Helo/Sharon storyline. His steadfast support of her in the face of almost universal scorn and anger elevated the character. Plus, Tahmoh brings so much to the role.

Reason Why You Got Into BSG: Alex kept going on, and on about what a great show it is. I had to give it a try.

Current Season/Episode of BSG You've Seen Last: I'm up to 2x08
First Impression of the Show: I wasn't hooked right away, but as the story started to get more complex and we got to know the characters better I fell hard.
Favorite Character & Why: Kara. I like kickass heroines.

I watched 2x08 - Final Cut today.

Spoiler:

Interesting way to tell the story. Especially the part when we were on Battlestar during the battle, and not with the pilots like usually.
And I did not see that end coming.

And finally - the towel scene.

I saw those screencaps posted on my LJ flist over and over again.

I love Helo/Sharon storyline so far.

And Gaius is the only one who annoys me. I just don't like him, he bores me.
