May 19 is the date of the Upfronts when ABC announce which shows are returning next season.

Every site I've read says Private Practice is safe for Season 3. It is the best show in the post-Greys timeslot for over 2 years. Ugly Betty was the only show on the bubble but ABC have said that show is now safe.
