| Fan Forum's Finest | Don't hate me, but Taschka posted a fic at the Cuddy/Lucas thread and I read it, and aw, it's so so sad but also so beautiful, the way the writer came up with for her to choose to be with Lucas, I'm gonna paste it here: "She thinks about House, who's fragile in places no one would expect, and how many years they've both lost pining and fighting. If she ends all that by choosing Lucas, there's no chance of her doing anything to break him, and she can move forward. They both can. It's for the best, she thinks."  it's what I've always thought, you know, that she thought if she ended everything between them, before it even started, there wouldn't be a chance of getting hurt anymore. She knows how hard it is for him to open up, and she knows that once that happened, if it didn't work out, who knows what would happen to him this time - I'm sure that him going to Mayfield scared the hell out of her, especially considering everything he thought was going on between them, if something unreal did that to him, I can only imagine how scared she was of what the real thing could do to him if it didn't work out. And we know that since the beginning, they both were expecting it not to work out  But turns out it wasn't for the best, after all  I know those who are against it since forever will say it's obvious that it wouldn't be the best way to go, I know that. But to me, there's something beautiful to the idea that she would want to spare him more heartbreak, that she wasn't just thinking of herself when she decided to try to move on. That she still thinks of both of them, that her feelings for him are so strong that she doesn't even deny them to herself - she won't let anybody know, but they're still there | |||

| Ju, that's beautiful and I can see what you mean.  I think House has gotten over the fact that things might not work out, but Cuddy hasn't yet and I don't think she knows how House is doing at the moment and still feels he might be too fragile. Which I am not sure is true at the moment, especially given how he's handled her relationship with Lucas. Cuddy just needs to see that House is strong enough to handle a relationship and strong enough to handle a break-up. But how do you show somebody that without actually having a relationship? | |||

| I do wish they'll sit and talk (or get trapped together in an elevator and are forced to talk.  ) but getting her angry might also work. Although he already attempted that with telling Lucas he loved her.  Quote:

| Fan Forum's Finest | Yeah, but that didn't work, so it doesn't count to me Maybe if he had tried saying that to her, who knows what might have happened, she would probably be angry because she wouldn't believe it, she'd think he was trying to manipulate her, jerking her around to mess up the relationship she's in now because he can't see anyone happy and has to make everyone around him miserable, that he had his chance and let it go and is only after her now because she's with someone else, etc, that could have led to a fight, so, it could have worked  And wouldn't that just be perfect right now? __________________ What do you want?
